My Experiences so far, EVERYTHING for ris now drops in sets.

I Looted5 Peko Peko Feathers last night, a jedi try to kill steal me though cause he claimed he needed the albatross for the jedi knight quests, i outdamaged him nonetheless and even offered to invite him into a group, he declined and tryed to outdamage me.

I saw 4 Serialized Woolamander bone fragments on the ahazi trade forums last night

another guy in the normal galaxy forum said he killed a Gurk King for 11 hides same serial.

I saw another guy in naboo last night, he like "spawned" and was loading from the shuttle trip outside the starport andshouted he was selling 3 GDK Scales, i sent him a tell like 30 seconds later and a minute later he answered me and he said they had just been sold, didnt give me the price but whatever. He said they were from the same kill.

I dont know how you guys feel about the increased spawn rate. But i for one, after 7 months, get to assemble my 2 full sets of RIS armor once i get my hand on 18 scales lol, ive been stockpiling for a while already, guess im gonna "hologrind ranger 0040 / master rifleman" again to take on these GDK bastards and stand a chance solo hehe.

He was telling ya the truth, its part of the Jedi Knight Trials. Hopefully he ended up on the BH boards if he used his powers in front of ya, I hate KSers, RIS components have brought out the worst in KSing though.

Drop rate hasn't changed at all. TH kept to his word. They just drop in higher #'s now. No matter what, as the game goes on you will see more and more RIS, nothing you could do about it.

The difference between making RIS for someone or a Scythe blade for example is that the person typically brings in a 5 use schematic, ya make 1 or 2, and they let you keep the remainder of uses. RIS is a permanent schematic, we get nothing out of it.

If I see a person in full RIS, I'd like to know that they are an awesome armorsmith. Not merely a person with a huge bank account. This is an Epic Quest for armorsmiths don't forget. It would at least be nice to get a badge for completing this quest.

Personally I see it as a good thing, the increased drops will make a armor a little under Composite more viable more product selection means we can appeal to customers. RIS is the perfect armor who like the encumberance reduced. I when, I started my template nearly 6 months ago wanted to make lite armor RIS Enhancement layers is awesome for normal armor RIS itself doesn't have to be uber 80% to be effective 70s are perfectly fine and with that the Acid and Stun can be gaped. I understand the more veteran Armorsmiths wanting it rare but once a product starts to circulate it should be come at least reasonably available, think of The weaponsmiths lists of quested schematics prime example Acid rifles were selling for over a million now they are settled in they range from 150k to 600k.. I think of it as a good thing I personally love the RIS armor and still have yet to get a GDK. On that note I obtained 8 Woolamander Bones last night I am all a flutter.

Well, you guys can argue semantics all you want. Jaato knows about it and is taking it to the devs for an answer one way or the other.

I see it as a good thing and hope Jaato does not speak for everyone in addressing this. Anyone who compares RIS to composite with these changes is just wrong. Even with increased drops (or numbers) making a full, usable suit will be expensive for like 75% of the servers inhabitants.

On Gorath NO ONE uses their suits they have made. They are $50mm dollar trophies. I'd like to see them in combat.

If people took the time and effort to pay or loot all the stuff to make a suit be proud of that accomplishment but don't use that as way of suggesting that RIS should only be available to the 5% richest folks on the server.

Figure the drop rate is still say 50 to 1. Now it drops lets say on average 5 scales versus 1. Thats still alot of work for one suit. Its exponentially harder to get a drop on a GDK scale then on any other crafted loot drop.

i do use my RIS in pve combat.

here are shots of me killing a gdk right after i finished my set

i don't and never make any armor that i would not use myself. a few people have asked me to make ris helmets and i will not make them because they just want a display helmet. i sent them to other smiths.

yes it does take alot of time and effort to pay or loot all the stuff. i took me over 7 months to get everything.

ris is the funnest armor i have ever made.

No, we're people who put in the effort to make these items (and help others make them along the way) and resent the rules being changed to make something that was revered and cherished just slightly less common that other drops.

If I'm so selfish why did I write up a guide to hunting GDK's after I got good enough at it to find random spawns with no tracking skills within 15 minutes of hitting Lok? Why did I answer all the questions I could here and in game about finding the items, and about crafting the armor in general. Look at all of the posts some of us have made helping others out on their own RIS quests - if we were selfish do you think we'd share any of that?

Anyone would be upset if something that they had worked months for and were exceptionally proud of overnight became something that could be obtained in a couple days of hunting.

when i first heard of the concept of RIS, it was all i thought about. I wanted to be the first person to do it. Well, the day rolled around, and I got ingame looking. I somehow found the waypoint to the hermit on another board (thanks to a kind soul) and posted it here for all armorsmiths to see. Sure if I hadn't someone else would have, but those who are trying to make the RIS aren't hogging it for themselves. The second I knew anything about the armor, I posted it for everyone else to see. you know what? I still haven't finished his quest. I'm waiting on my own GDK scale still... making the drop rate 6 times more really bums me out, because now my own epic quest is going to be turned 6 times easier.... those who have attempted to make ris, or those who have done the quests aren't selfish, except that they would like a consistant challenge. turning your original mona lisa into a $25 piece of trash by releasing perfect duplicates would bum you out too..

Just got 10 GDK scales on my 14th kill of the day. This is a travesty. I went 24 before getting my first (single) scale!

Ouch. That could effect the economy greatly by reducing the per scale cost to under $10 million! Maybe some poor sap will get some RIS part made 2 months from now....the economy is ruined......

I agree with Katrine I went hunting GDK's this morning killed 3 and several Dune Kimo's and I obtained some segments but nothing else. I am sure its just as rare just a chance of having mulitple drops which is good not bad.

LOL I aggree with the sarcasim 100% As a former Master armorsmith some of you oldtimers might remember, I thought the drop rate on GDK scales was insanely low. There were wails of protest and outrage when we all got our hopes up and came to realize that actually completing a set of RIS would no doubt bankrupt us as we were at the mercy of the hunters that were selling them. I know I didn't have a hope in h3ll of getting the silly things on my own. Many gave up the profession over that clap.

Here we are 6 months later and I've yet to see RIS armor in use. A friend has a couple of pieces for show but for the cost he would NEVER use them in combat.

And TH didn't lie. The drop rate didn't change. Just the number of scale that drop did. Some poor smoe is still only gonna get 1 scale, while some lucky dog is gonna get maybe 11 scales. Good for them. Maybe the price might come down from 10mil a scale to 2mil a scale. Great! Maybe this stuff won't be so expensive that peope might actually USE it as was intended.

Right now, less than 1% of the population has the wherewithall to procure RIS armor and those people would almost never use it. The astromech stats on the economy showed that 5% of the population has 99% of the credits. If the price dropped to 20% of it's current price then about 5% of the population could and probably would buy and use this armor.

5% is not everybody. RIS isn't going to be like Composite is now and never will be. You might see somebody wearing it now and again, but nothing like seeing Composite everywhere.

I realize a lot of you have put in a huge amount of work into gathering your components. But, this is no different than when Master Armorsmith took awhile to get and getting the best materials was an achiement in and of itself. Today, it's easy to grind out Master Armorsmith and buy up the best materials and start producing top grade armor. (assuming you're in a guild with deep pockets and a need for an armorsmith )

Change is a constant of the Universe (this like any other). I doubt this is a bug. I think the Dev's would like to see players actually using this armor. However, as someone else mentioned, after the combat balance, dropping a GDK is going to be a whole lot harder to do and probably require coordinated efforts by groups of players rather than solo'ing them.

My conclusion then is this. The dev's are experimenting with the new drops to see what effect (if any) this has on the useage of RIS armor and adjust it as necessary untill they see the results they want to see.
