TH, can you kindly answer on which professions, if certs will be added, will be able to use mandalorian armor? BH's would love to have some lovin' sooner than later if you know what I mean

Certs for Mandalorian armor will be: Bounty Hunter, Commando, Ranger and Squad Leader

Its real, go to the dev tracker and read TH's last reply to the 19 questions. At first I was happy thinking "wow we are going to be able to wear Mandolorian armor". Then I thought about it some more.

How on earth does wearing Mandalorian armor fit into being a Ranger in SWG? The only possible way I can see it fitting is if they are planning, in the Combat Balance, to remake us into the same cookie cutter military style Ranger in every other game on the face of this planet.

It is either that or a cookie the devs are tossing us to try and keep us all from quitting. Don't get me wrong, I'll take it, but the fact we are getting a cert for it comes across as a really blatant and sad attempt by the devs to try and appease us since any real fixes to our profession are long in coming.

Just think of the Antarian Ranger idea. Yes, we don't currently have the skill set to support it. No, I don't think they will turn us into cookie cutter Rangers. But Mandalorians were elite warriors. Any good battle group will have good scouts. This just indicates that the Devs probably no longer think of us as completely creature centric. And that we should be useful if not essential in PvP combat (as Mandalorians almost certainly would be).

Immersion (and thereby players' concerns about immersion) would dictate that regardless of certifications the armor is extremely rare. If the devs adhere to that, this will be an empty bonus to the vast majority of Rangers. I dearly hope that "we gave them Mandalorian armor" does not ever become a dev justification for not making other improvements to the profession. Plus, even assuming any given ranger did manage to acquire it, there are still a number of questions: Does the cert come at novice or master? Will its HAM costs mandate doc buffs just to walk around in it? Personally, I think this cert does fit our profession conceptually, but I don't see it having much real effect on actual gameplay for the majority of rangers.

Well, I know that I will try and get myself a set. Even if I know that I won't get it (I've been trying for many months to get the RIS components and I don't even have enough for one piece). And realize that this probablyisn't the Boba Fett Mandalorian. If you want to see what it will look like, find a BH trainer in armor that you don't recognize or go to the Wayfar cantina and look at the Corvette NPC. That should be the Death Watch armor and the Mandalorian should be a modified version of that. Although maybe they will let us look like Boba Fett.

I have to agree with SolrFlare on this one. What does Mandalorian armor have to do with being a Ranger? I understand the wishful thinking that this might lead into a Ranger along the lines of the "Antarian Rangers", but I just don't see the dev's making that happen. No, I must admit that I fall into the catagory of people who believe this is just a lame attempt by the dev's to keep us playing, while not actually fixing anything in our Profession. Besides, most Rangers I know, or have seen hunting, don't use armor....

I agree. While I will check out the armor, it has nothing to do with Rangers IMO. I guess most of us are jsut used to the only set of Mandalorian to become famus in Star Wars being worn by a single Bounty Hunter family, the Fett's. So yes I will check it out, but that might be it.

And...to me this is bad news. This means that a lot more people will start "grinding" Ranger just to get the armor. Get ready to see our bandwagon start filling up.

well, in the olden times the mandolorians were warriors, not bounty hunters... when you read mandolorian, substitute spartan... the way i see it, rangers in their present form would be vital to the mandolorians (primarily because they would couple their ranger skills with an elite combat profession), but what i think most of us are hoping for is for ranger to get a little more combat capable in the ranger tree...

buti doubtthat many people will start running toward ranger as their source for an armor cert... for most of the folks who would want mandolorian armor commando and BH are the prime targets for their skill points... and it would be cheaper (skill points) and just as useful for them to go up in SL rather than ranger, if they are a marksman elite...

Mandalorian armor was worn by Jaster Mereel's *gasp* Mandalorians.

They werent bounty hunters, they were mercs.

They built their own base camp wherever they were being paid to fight, they tracked down their enemy, and killed them, using a wide array of weapons. I think these certs are PERFECT.

Mandalorians had squad leaders barking orders, Rangers setting up camp, finding food, setting traps, They used bounty hunter-esque skills in finding the exact location of their enemy when neccesary, and they all had the fighting skill of a textbook commando.
