To masselin:

I see jedi crying all day about xp loss, and, even though I never WANTED a jedi, I disagree with the xp loss system. However, I love the game dynamic of BH and jedi. Why should I hurt someone else, in the process of playing the game unnecessarily. It is bad for business.

An example;

Tonight, I stalked and hunted a mark on dant. Got an unlucky lag problem as soon as I engaged, which caused only my auto-attack to go off, and no other specials, thus my mark easily ran into his mobile home. After a short conversation, he agreed to come out under the agreement that we would fight, both learn about our characters, and if I lost, he would DB me and clear his mission from my pad, at least, but I would not DB him, so long as his bounty was paid. We fought, and I won. He paid, and we /bowed and went on our way, after I dueled several of his friends, and traded tips and tactics. (You know, people in a game being friendly with each other. It is possible).

After that, I went for another mark, did the mission, and got another jedi from the hterms, who I discovered was grinding in the same group as before. As I had demonstrated already I could beat any jedi but one there, I sent a tell to my mark and asked if he would be willing to fight under the same conditions as before, and he promptly agreed, thanking me for the chance at a fair fight. He knew he would not win, but chose to fight and learn, rather than hide in the mobile home. I got my money, didnt have to deal with hate tells, and learned some more about fighting jedi, all without spoiling someone else's fun, or setting back their xp grind.

This proves, to me at least, that if I am willing to fight face to face, and give up the surprise advantage, I am much more likely to get the chance to have fun, and not have to sit outside a house while they run inside, or give up and start over. Additionally, they are pleased at the chance to enjoy a BH/jedi fight, without the ridiculous penalty, and I still get paid. Through this process, I had a jedi pay me 2 mil for a suit of faction armor, when I asked for one, and even offered to front me the money for a new suit of recon armor, if I came up short. I made an extra 150k tonight on 2 bounties, by allowing jedi to enjoy the game with me, rather than punishing them for playing it. I even had another jedi (the middle one in my story) give me a stack of accaragam (sp?) and some extra money after we discussed our choices of foods and drink and spice buffs.

I view the xp loss as a failed sytem. It does not prevent people from trying to be a jedi, it just prevents them from enjoying a terrific facet of the game, that being the bh/jedi dynamic. I find that, just like every other part of the game, it is MORE fun for me when all invovled enjoy it, than when I am hurting another player.

It seems I am going soft, but I do not have room in my life for all the hate. Got a new baby, and a new career. Id rather be happy and enjoy a MMORPG with other people who are having fun too.

aye, paying a bh off is only delaying the inevitable. also, in most cases I've come across, bh's travel in pairs.

So, if one said he wasn't going to db me, I'd be pretty convinced the other one would step up for the task. Yeep.. for some reason I don't trust bh, so shootme!

Considering what a bh is, it would seem completely in character for them to let someone live if that person paid their bounty. From the perspective of a completed template I would not pay the bounty. From the perspective of a grinding jedi I would greatly appreciate the option. In most cases I would never pay mainly out of paranoia of a scam for additional money. But there were certainly points in my grinding where that option would have been accepted with great thanks. 10,000xp away from learning a new skill is one such example where I would have been extremely gratefull. I was hunted a lot while I was grinding pre cu and it was brutal then because so many bh had legendary weapons that would kill any jedi that couldn't heal dot's in under a minute. After cu there was a huge influx of bh into the system and the first week of cu i was attacked by over 50 BH mainly groups of 2 to 4 people(mainly noobs). And I of course sent the vast majority of them home in a body bag. Now it is rare for me to see bh but I look forward to my next encounter

i've only had a very few classy bh's not db my sorry 60k cl40 noob butt and not even ask for a payout. i have had a few who tried to extort. by this, i mean you could tell they had guildies with your mission who were 200m away waithing to come in and finish you off after you paid up.

personally, the only time i would probably payup is if i was like 5k away from the next box. i would hurry up to my house and stay logged for a few days. sucks to lose all that xp when your that close to your next box. any other time i would take the db for the simple fact that you will eventually die.
