Thread: Factory Exp.

As both an armorsmith and a tailor, I've been using my factory extensively. I've noticed that while it does not take a huge amount of time to update my xp for smaller items, such as synthetic cloth, the parts for the personal shields take forever. However, as they are immensly boring to craft, its nice for the armorcrafting xp.

Ok, look.

A run of 100 synth takes about 4 hours or so.

You get FULL xp for making them. I watched it, 45xp a pop. I don't know about this radius/logged in thing, my house is next to my factory, so that's where i am 90% of the day. I did make a short run of 15 elegant gemstone necklaces, with premade components, and compared to handmade I seemed to get about 95% xp on those, so you might get a touch less if you're making something that requires subcomponents. But really, unless you're trying to powergrind while you sleep (dumb waste of resources for something you're going to destroy and never get UXP on) there's no reason to be making 100 of the same color of the exact same shirt (or wait, maybe if you're clothing an entire PA...)

Can anyone else confirm this XP chunk thingy?

I wouldn't want to waste 6k of resources over a night to test this. Merchants are also getting XP just for having vendors standing around, so having the factories to give XP for producing independent of your location or online status would just be fair.

I left my factory running, ran to town.. over 2k m away. Still got XP. Went to another planet - no XP.

Also logged off near factory while running. When I got back, no new XP.

So I believe you need to be logged in and at least on the same planet, possibly within some range of proximity. Not necessarily same zone, since my factory is in South Crimson Flats and I got experience in Dearic.

As long as any PC is near the factory, it should continue to update, so you should get XP no matter how far away. My tests have not taken me off-planet, and my offline test was short, maybe only 5 mins without connection. I will know more once I get home this evening....

Can somebody give me an estimate of factory economics? How much is a fair price to pay for one, what do they cost per day in maintenance, what do they require in power per day?

I personally don't find it worth running a factory purely to grind XP - seems to be rather silly, considering the time it takes.. I can grind {insert item here} 10x faster than a factory (at least, non-component items)

I run my factory as much as I can make components, and I'm still out by the end of the day.

Does anyone know the exact exp. that is earned from factory crafting. I know that it has changed a couple of times and I am unsure of where it ended. Please enlighten me with your plethora of knowledge....oh wise ones. <end chant>

I am almost positive that you get 1/10 the XP from factories. And that's only if you are within a certian range of the factory. You may want to back that up from other sources, but I'm rather sure it's right.

When you make items in factories do you get experience for them?

No, you only get exp when making items by hand.

Did they change this? I know when I was doing crafting a long time ago it worked, but hey that was about 7 months ago.

infact u still do get xp for stuff by factory, but u have to be near it and u only get 10% experience. so like said above, your better off to craft by hand with a macro. gl hf
