I don't know about it being "cheaper" than ubese. The creature harvested resource requirement is higher in chitin than in ubese meaningI need to spend more time gathering 3 types of hides and bones to make chitin versus the two types of hidesrequired for ubese. My only other alternative is tobuy hides and bones which usually has a higher cost per cpu than resources obtainable from mechanical harvestors.

I will agree chitin is pretty spiffy looking though.

Well, I'm not a fan of Chitin because I think Mabari is WAY better. If you're going for light HAM, you can't beat Adv Mabari and the 30% Kinetic resist isn't that bad when compared to the HAM you're saving on. If you're hunting without buffs, get Mabari armor. If you're hunting with buffs, then Ubese is better since you don't worry about HAM and it's a lot easier to make. Not to mention that Ubese is only 7 pieces (the Chest functions as 3 pieces of Chitin).

I've just been a fan of Mabari for the longest time. With Mabari and Ubese around, I don't think that Chitin can hold it's ground in a market that goes with what everone else is using...

I have 2 sets of reinforced kliknik shells from the geo caves.

5 with 18% base, integ. 5900, action -27 and mind -8

11 with 26% base, integ. 9200, action -13 and mind -10

What kind of chitin armor will these produce?

Thx,

Shammus

62% Kinetic, 17% Base

All of my materials were from what I had lying around (I have a lot ) so I went for oq+sr and didn't pay much attention to HAM. still comes out way lighter then any sets even after slice. Already got one guy that wants a set just from me wearing it This stuff is wonderful. It's a shame I dont mass produce it

compared to ubese

80% kinetic 16% base

331/391/458 HAM

74% kinetic 16% base

282/335/396 HAM

i think i'd choose the ubese to pvp in. although i like the looks of chitin there's no point in me wearing a suit of it

It would be foolish to PvP in Chitin or Ubese, unless you're going strictly against melee or your defenses are so well stacked that you don't get hit often. Even then, many of the weapons do damage other than kinetic.

Those are very impressive suits. I'm guessing they were made using enhanced components.

I've collected a few of the klicknik shells and will be making a few sets. It's going to be interesting to see how it works out.

I think I'm gonna start wearing it more often. As a master AS, I can pretty much wear what I want. Composite is starting to get old.

but keep in mind that these are basically junk resources... I didn't bother with ham at all... if i wanted, I could raise the kinetic and lower the ham if i really spent time into resources... my ubese comes out at like 50 odd kinetic when i use the same par resources as my chitin.. so the chitin is better. Also, it looks WAY better

After being a master armorsmith for about 3 months now, I have recently started really messing around with chitin armor, first because I think it looks cool (except for the helm, but its better looking than the padded helm) and second because it was my first suit of armor I ever had andI missed wearing it. Some friends had given me both Kliknik segments and Reinforced Kliknik Segments so I used those in to make the first suit and OMFG is what I told myself, for encumbs on the armor the base protections could not be beaten by anything except a PSG and we all know the bain of the PSG. I was getting 35-40% base results on these pieces with 25% kinetic and encumbs in the single digits across the board, UNSLICED. The Helmet was amazing in its own right with only 156 mind encumbrance and single digits on the others with again 25%Kin and 36% Base stats. On these pieces I also DID NOT put a single experimentation point into reducing the encumbrances. Once I realized that the base protections were the only thing really worth experimenting on on these pieces that's where all the points went. Finally just the other day since I was bored with making the new wookie armor and composite i went back and tried makinganother Chitin Bicep with some new Reinforced Kliknik segments I had recently aquired. And just let me tell you WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Got the similar protections as before with ALMOST NOTHING for encumbs on it.

24% Kinetic/35% Base and 0/1/0 on encumbrances.

Yes that does say on 1 pt cost to your action stats to wear this piece of armor. Now if I can only get my hands on enough of those Reinforced Kliknik Segments with the same encumbrances mods on them, I would wear that suit ALL THE TIME
