making a mall with 10 other smiths and 23 armor vendors, we will each take 1-5 vendors
yea it might suck with some of the changes, but I will still be getting PAID once CU goes live

Plan to grind the rest of jedi before CU hits. Make some nice armor along the way in case people are interested in actually buying something.(One of only 2 AS on Naritus to make 80/80/80/80/70% Comp unsliced)Play test center a few more times to see what actually changes. Evaluate the final CU product. If the launch is anything like what the devs are releasing now...Cancel all 4 accounts.
FYI...I am planning to start a Guild in Dark and Light when it launches 11/5/05. Yeah it has been delayed a bunch but hey, I have played SWG for 2 years so disappointments seem to roll right off me.
Our guild site is already up for Dark and Light...check it out here http://101799.aceboard.net/ Would love to play another MMORPG with folks who appreciate the crafting side of things if SOE screws this up as capably as they seem to be doing.

I am praying for conversion too, going to do a run of 90 or so suits and pray, if anything it will save resources (if what takes 10k now wil take 18k of new stuff, make it now and convert it over)

Too be honest I was happy with the current game the way it was. They only need to tweak a few things, instead, their tearing the whole damn house down, instead of fixing the sink.
I have been around since beta, but if things are as bad as they sound. This will be the straw that broke this camels back. I will be out of here.
Maybe in 6-12months when Mr Lucas really flips his lid and takes SWG in house, Imay return.

there have been more than one post that has hinted that you will be able to convert current comp to different armors (like padded, ubese, etc)

Ive just gotten my +22 worth of tapes, for about 45 mill, I have 10's of millions in resources, massive tracts of harvesters and 30ish factories. Houses/factories are full of crated comp and segs sitting idle. I have a lot of credits tied up in this, conservative estimate of 250 million worth. So it's fair to say that I've gone into AS in a heavy way.
Right now I'm just reading a lot and thinking, so I wont be jumping to any hasty decisions. However with the next phase change I will be getting another character slot, so my AS account was going anyway, and I was/am? planning to regrind WS/AS on the new character, I will sit on the 2nd account and see what happens for now, should I continue to craft, I will need a Ranger because there won't be any left after CU unless they get serious loving.
I'm certainly not happy about the stat changes SR<->UT, and it's still unclear if this has been reverted or not. From previous experience anything from an old system that gets converted to a new one will be mediocre at best, not uber 90 base like I've been hoarding, so I know I'll be dissapointed there. The experimental changes are poor to say the least, no challenge means no interest, no interest means no activity.
From what I can glean from the posts here, AS will be even rarer than they are now, consumers will have no option but to buy from a handful of hardcore crafters, who will have carte blanche to charge whatever they like. End of story, you will either be a Jedi, TKM, pay whatever they want, or spend the vast majority of your time inside cities fearing low level mobs, or cloning. This doesnt sound altogether fun to me.
My plans post CU will be Jedi grinding, mining, tinkering and watching. There may be some minor crafting for personal use and close friends, but I fear the large scale production of affordable armour for the masses may be well and truly finished. I'm very aprehentious about the changes, ultimately it will cost them an account either way so thats a moot point, the timing is just convienient for me. Should the changes be abandoned I'll keep that 2nd account open and convert him to a TK/Commando/Scout, if thats even possible with the new points requirements.

I was stupid enough to sign up for a whole year on my crafter account right before CU went up on TC
In short, I'm stuck even though the thought of cancelling has crossed my mind. Luckily, I'm a guild/small scale AS -and- WS. I only really have to worry about supplying my guild mates and my guild isn't huge or anything. Rarely do I have more than 10 suits of armor up on my vendor, so even if I had to shut down my business temporarily due to the CU changes, few would notice. I have a wide selection of resources due to being WS as well, not to mention all the stuff I've been given by guild mates leaving the game. I don't have huge quantities of each type of resource due to being small scale. Combine all this and it seems like I'll be able to adapt somehow and if not, there's always WS to focus on with all their new weapons and such. Of course, I'm now hitting my head against the wall for spending all my money on a 12pt AS suit rather than a 12pt WS suit - anyone wanna trade a 6 piece 12pt AS suit for a 12pt WS suit on Eclipse? LOL

Well, we'll see how it turns out... i don't want to commit myself until it really goes live. But it looks really bad right now. Unless they change their current plans alot i'll most likely drop it.

I'm going to wait and see. It is far too early to say something and I don't think they will go through with all the changes. This is still beta and they are testing our responses asmuch as they are eliminating bugs.
I grinded up to novice armorsmith on TC this weekend to check things out, I reported 30+ bugs and wrote comments about our AS issues in three exit polls.. That's how much I love being an armorsmith.
If too many of these changes we see now go through then maybe I'll drop AS. I don't want to spent more time on boring resource collecting and less on fun experimenting/tweaking/crafting.. I can really see why they need to make adjustments to fit AS into the new system but they are making too many, and many that takes away fun.
