Might be worth investigating.

The bigger question here is the people that say it "DOES" make a difference in PvE. With this bug it tells me those people that came to this conclusion are basing their opinions on inaccurate data. They test with armor on only and NOT without any armor. So, how could they know ?

Either way... With or Without armor, tryng to go after anything 5+ Levels over you equals Death. Since that big of a Level difference means you are taking damage that is too high for armor to make a difference in the calculations. You either Die after getting hit 4 times, or 8. Either way you look at it, you die before you can kill your attacker. Maybe against stuff that is your Level or only a couple of Levels higher, armor will help a little in that situation. But, when it comes down to it, it is not REALLY needed. So, benefit against cost means the average player will not buy armor for PvE. Since the outcome is predetermined (pretty much) by the Level Difference.

This is my experience as well. If you are a number of levels above the mob you are attacking, the damage they will hit you with is so small that it does not matter whether have armor on or not. Who cares if you can prevent 50% of 50 damage when you have 3000 health? I am trying to do a comparison between the various mobs to make a damage table as well.

Comical sidenote...

Looks like my years of playing MUDs is gonna really pay off... holy freakin' battle spam.

"The clouds cover the blood-red moon as Rasth's spinning backslash of d00m hits Hiran in the chest for 495 points of damage. Hiran's armor, being made of Cortosis-weave, stands strong against the attack, and absorbs 355 points of that damage, leaving 140 points... of which Hiran's Imperial Prototype PSG absorbs 50 points! That leaves 90 points which Hiran takes stoically across the chest, not letting a grimace show his discomfort."

Cripes... my pc's gonna lag out just trying to scroll all that text.

Ya, its called the combat upgrade.

Testing with it on and off, it really doesn't make much of a difference in combat because of the level system currently.

I was wondering why my health was going up in combat. Thanks guys.

Back on top. This is a very critical bug for the CURB combat.

Maybe we should repost under a better name, like "Combat Damage / Armor Bug". Might get attention easier... (/gasp!)

Bugged this again for the New Version... There is a slight modification now....

The Value Taken away from Health and the Display Value Overhead now equals Initial Damage (X) - Armor Reduction (Y). Armor Reduction is no longer Added to Health, then Full Damage taken away. But still the problem of the 2 things (Combat Log and Overhead Display) being out-of-sync. Also, the Situation whereArmnor Reduction(Y)is actually Added to your Health is still there.....

Current Bug... (Again Initial Damage before Armor Reduction = X ... Armor Reduction Value = Y)

MISS in Combat Log & MISS in Overhead :

Nothing. Nothing taken away and Nothing Added.

Hit in Combat Log & Hit in Overhead :

Overhead shows (X-Y) Damage. Also (X-Y) is Taken away from Health. Nothing added.

MISSin Combat Log & Hit in Overhead : (BUG: 2 Displays out-of-sync)

Overhead shows (X-Y) Damage. Also (X-Y) is Taken away from Health. Nothing added.

Hit in Combat Log & MISS Overhead : (BUG : Ohhhhh, just wrong in so many ways)

(Y) is Added to your Health and it will do the Regen Tick higher.

EDIT : This can happen with ALL Armor. Even TKA "Natural" Armor.

Yes, it affects (almost) everyone. But, this is still "Test".

It has been /bugged once again with the new info in the current version (Ticket # 116408). Plus, for added measure I added it to the Bugs Thread in the Dev - Testing Forum.

Do not think it is nessacary for everyone to know about it. As long as the Bug gets to the Devs to look into the Coding. That should be enough. They got 1 portion of the original bug fixed in this current version (Damage being taken away is now AFTER Armor Reduction, not before).

Personally, I think the boards are just cluttered with all the Bugs and personal disagreements on how stuff should work.

In the /bug description. I have been putting in All the info, examples and step-by-step how to recreate the situation. So, it should (hopefully) make it easier for them to trace back in the code. And rest assured that with EVERY Version Update they put out, I am and have been re-testing this to see if it was fixed or if the Bug has changed. And /bugging it again with the Full Information.

I merely posted the info here so that we (Armorsmith's) are aware of this while testing Armor out and working our calculations. Plus, the original poster of the Thread asked about it.

WOOOOHOOOOOOO....

Finally working correctly with this latest patch....

Nothing now adds to your Health. Only 1 thing I notice is that the "Overhead" Combat Display (MISS or Damage Taken number) is 1 round BEHIND the Actual Combat, Combat Log and what actually happens to your Health.

Do not think it's a Bug, just a delay and how they got the 2 things to finally use the same info....

Example....

Creatures Attack 1: Creature Hits me for 100 damage, armor absorbed 50 points. This shows in Combat Log and the 50 points taken from my Health. But, nothing shows over my head.

Creatures Attack 2 : Creature Misses me. Nothing taken from Health (or Added). Number over my head now shows the -50 from Attack 1.

Creatures Attack 3 : Creature Hits me for 100 damage, armor absorbed 50 points. This shows in Combat Log and the 50 points taken from my Health. Over my head now shows the "-MISS-" from Attack 2.

etc. etc. etc.... (You get the idea).

The end result is after I kill the creature. About 1 second (or so) after combat is done I see the Overhead indicator for the Creatures Last attack on me (MISS or Damage). Nothing is taken from Health. Just looks weird since you are not being attacked. It's just a delay of the Overhead Display.

In the end, everything adds up the way it should. Misses are misses, Hit are hits, and at no time do you ever get Health for free..
