Thread: Peko Peko Albatross
On Bria I found a spawn somewhat north of Moenia.
No waypoints from me though. I didn't save the spot.
Even if you find them, 22k HAM, insane resists and superfast. One shot kill any toon too.
Better have a good group. We killed 4 before giving up. Luckily, 3 dropped feathers.
Good Luck.
I usually just track them when I get in a general search zone, sorry.

they said on the ranger forum you cant track them
Seriously? Maybe I am mistaken.... maybe I just luckily ran across them while tracking Peko...... it's been a couple months since I've been in that area. Could have sworn I saw it on /areatrack....
I've only seen 2 Albatross, the first was just a random spawn i guess, as i passed it while travelling near kadaara. The second.. I camped a Giant peko spawn, after killing 8-10 of the giants, they were spawning in pairs, an Albatross spawned in their place.

Hi you can /areatrack albatrosses - I found two spawns within two hours of each other two days ago when I was out hunting for avian meat, pulled up areatrack and, wow, look a peku peku albatross 200m to the se, etc.... The first spawn was small -- 3 spawns of 1 each, but the second was substantial -- 4 spawns of 2 each.
Here's the deal with areatrack though (and this is what they might have been getting at on the Ranger boards): rangers can only track things that have spawned, so if none have spawned, areatrack will do no good.
For example, if an albatross spawn is waiting for someone to take out a lair of nightspiders or kaadus, then it will not show up on areatrack because it hasyet to spawn. If, though, one has spawned and is just waiting for someone to happen upon it and a ranger is within 500m, there's a good chance that his or her areatrack will find it.
One thing you might try is taking out some of the lairs/spawns in the area - as this might makeAlbatrosses spawn faster. Do this with a ranger that can track though - otherwise, there mightbe aspawn out ofvisual/map range. I'm not 100% sure that this will work, but I think that one reason I found those two spawnsrelatively close to each other within two hours is that I was taking out all the nightspider, etc... lairs in the hope that non-mission kaadu lairs (ie., naboo avian meat farms) would spawn.... Either that or I should have bought a lottery ticket that morning....
The above is also a great way to relieve frustration - while you're looking for albatrosses hold contests to see which of your elite combat types can take out a nightspider lair the fastest (nightspider lairs are also fun because there's usually a big mean (well relative to your normal nightspider) spider or two in the lair waiting to spawn right before the lair goes). Also, the twelve ch's that you brought along to tank the albatross can milk kaadu lairs for babies to sell as mounts.
I have found the most albatrosses between Kaadara and Theed, which has been mentioned above, but these results might be a little biased, as this is where I spend the majority of my time on naboo (PA city is between Kaadara and Theed and I usually hunt from there). We also found a spawn of albatrosses in the fields south and east of moenia - between the swampsaround the city and the mountains to the east.
Of all the creatures needed for the RIS quest, the albatross seems to be the most easy to find.Itisalsothe most exciting to hunt because you actually have to look forit rather than waiting for, say, an hour and a half for the reclusive gurk king to honor a crowd of some 40 or so elite combat types and their 120 or so pets with his presence (I'm exagerrating here, of course, but we've all been there). Albatrossesalso consistantly drop feathers. Every one we have taken down thus far has had a feather. They also have tons of resources (between 500-700 units), so if you are albatross hunting, equip yourselfwith the following macro:
\harvest [meat/hide/bone];\loot
This will not only harvest the resource you specify from the bird, but it will also loot the birdand hopefully get the feather.
Finally, if you find one albatross, wait around and see if another (or two more) appear. Every albatross we have found has between followed by at least two more spawns of one or two more albatrosses each. Here a ranger is helpful as well, as albatrosses can fly really far really fast (esp. when they are about to die and you need to be within 80m to get xp from the kill - uggh) so you can either move really far from the original spawn point during the kill or you might find the first albatross some distance fromits original spawn point. Areatrack will help you chase down subsequent spawns though. There are usually no more than 5 minutes between the spawns and they seem to spawn either three times in groups of 1 or four times in groups of two.
OK - I hope all of this helps.

Thanks for clearing that up... I could have sworn I used /areatrack to find the Albatross....

I know they drop feathers, and I'm a high lvl Commando now, and interested in hunting them.
1) Can rangers track them?
2) I've heard they spawn near Moenia, Naboo, but any particular areas for hunting?
Yes rangers can track them, they are just like any other animal in that regards.
I have hard them being found West of Moenia, and South West of Thead. Extremely tough, but with commando you might be alright. Three rangers, Rifle, Pistal, and TKM, har hard time killing ONE. It took them several deaths each to finally kill it.
