This would explain why they want to change combat, but I still disagree as to why AS needs these changes. They should look at who their armosmiths are.

Ok, show of hands, how many of us have SW figures on our desks?

PSG changes come with a grain of salt, while they're condition will be better they will only work against ranged attacks and can only block a few hits before going into a recharge period.

I used a Mk3 PSG on TC-EP3.
I am Level 14 vs level 14 NPC. He was hitting me around 200-220 damage per hit. Shield blocked usually around 25 damage per hit.

I've got a life size cardboard cutout of the Emperor next to me, so, nothing on the desk.

All the ranting will do nothing if we want changes we must convince SOE that our way is not better for a very limited hardcore crafting group but also for the masses of new players entering the SWG universe. The way CU works might be a bigdisappointment for oldschool players but those of us who are posting actively are really the vocal minority. The very best chance for Lucas and SOE to get a lot of new customers into the game is the launch of theEP III movie. With over 2 million subscribers (1.2 million in America alone) WoW is not only market leader but beating SWG by a factor of 10. The MMO market is shifting and getting more attention from casual gamers and those are comming in big numbers. That equals big business and more moneyto makean evolving and bettergame. From this perspective all thosenew changes make a lot of sense especially considering the target market of potential new customers.Even the new simplicity of crafting and the adopting of common standards in those fantasy MMORPGs is good. For me the only real sad thing is that SOE is on it's way to abandon their mostunique selling point. And that is the the most complex player-driven economy system and the underlying crafting and resource system. The direction armorcrafting is being moved to,is notfar from having NPC armor vendors selling this standard out of the box armors. If any devs read this they should think about this direction. I wonder what Raph Holocron Koster thinks about the new route SWG is taking.Solast but not leastI am positive, I personally will adept, stay armorsmith no matter what comes.A dead game with too few customers and not enough development power is worse than all bad aspects of the CU.
This is clearly a 5 star post, i like your analysis but i do not share your conclusions.
There will be simply no way to hold the vast negative outcry from the existing player community under cover. We are talkin about >85% of the community who dislike what they see on the Testcenter, while John Smedley is talking about "positive feedback". This was the very last chance to give this game perspective for the future and SOE is spoiling it. While i was quite optimistic when i first saw the concepts of the CURB, i am now deadly pessimistic, because of the utterly poor execution. The general theme appears to be NERF and fix of things that did not need any fix. To my eyes developers have completely lost contact with reality. Just have a look at the recent "Letter to community from James Pratt" and go on TC make up your on mind. "Develop a more consistent look and feel for toolbars and windows " .... unbelievable that he thinks his illegitimate EQ2/WoW-Offspring is aiming at this direction. This guy probable has graduated in psychology in order to analyse his personal mental illness ...
Right now, the negative feedback about CURB starts to spread across the SOE boards and swaps over to game magazines and independet platforms. I agree with you, that some of the changes are intended to make the game more attractive for casual gamers, and that SOE appearently tries to prepare ground for these new aims and forces the change to be in place at same time as EP3:ROTS launches for marketing purposes. But this strategy will foresably fail, because of the vast negative feedback from the existing community. Let's make it clear, if the CURB goes live as it is right now, this means nothing else that we have been paying (not payed) betrayed beta testers for 2 years. I understand that SOE wants to make profit with this game, but this CURB thing really gets out of control. So my personal advise would be, make your voice hearable on independet platforms with high impact factors. All we post here, gets archived in the folder "positive feedback" /sarcasm_off

I dont mind changes but when they go changingcurrent armorschematics where I have to go and get more resources for something I spent 2yrs already harvesting . That is just wrong!
I can understand getting resources for armor which I do not currently carry. I have resources for Ubese, Padded, Composite, RIS, Chitin, and Boneso getting resources for Tantel, Mabari, and Factionarmor would not be that bad, but they are chaning current schematics for existing armor. Bad move IMO.
Good thing this account is month to month, because soon after CU, it will be no more. I will be playing my jedi account, this one will be just a bad memory, thanks to CU.
What I would like to know, this was suppose to be a CU not a AS upgrade (downgrade).
