What are you talking about? The feathered appearance enhancer? If that's the case, +20 is the max that can be get.

Two different things. You can add other health enhancers to armor. The max bonus to one piece is +50. So that's +350 for a suit with seven pieces (not counting boots and gloves since you can enhance them). Peko feathers are but one way (albeit one of the simplest ways) to add a health bonus to armor. They can also be used on any armor where other enhancers are limited to specific types. The bonus on the feathers ranges from +10 to +20 from what I've seen.

I think you should check out the armor loot health enhancer sticky as well, its all explained in there how the segment and final appearance health enhancers stack

4. When he gives you the quest for the RIS layer or feathered enhancement, but he refers to it as a layer, do not freak out and have heart failure like I did thinking my quest was bugged. The feathered enhancement schematic does not show up in the "Layers" subcategory even though he refers to it as a layer. It is found in "components" subcategory.
im having issues trying to find this
, im at a public crafting station with my armour tool and a cannot find the ris layer anywhere even though its in my draft schematics list

Umm, I think you need a Private station.
That's why Jav and I suggested bringing a droid with you.
And by the way, you won't find the RIS Layer anywhere -it no longer exists.
It's now called the Feathered Appearance Enhancer.

Pardon me for being a n00b, but after seeing a few references to dismantling RIS I realized I have no idea what they're talking about. Not in the FAQ either. Or maybe I do -- is this what happens when you refit pre-CU RIS to something other than RIS?

Because people were upset about how RIS converted post-cu, you have the option of "dismantling" the pre-cu RIS armor to get your RIS segment back. You can then recombine them with good post-CU cores and get your higher resists armor.
