Thread: Why won't DEV's change the way UBESE convert

I did make abit of Ubese thinking it would be a better seller post CU. But I only made 30 suits not 300. Frankly Ubese did not sell pre CU even if you maxed condition on it it would not last nearl as long as a suit of Comp. Comp with 80 kinetic and 55 base is pretty cheap to make pre CU and does a much better Job then Ubese so my PVE vendors all stopped carrying Ubese months ago.

As to your original question think about it a moment. Comp can be convertet to Ubese or Tantel post CU so rifleman and Smugglers will be taking 90% Base Comp and giving it an Ubese skin and likely wont by any Ubese we made Pre CU any way Even if it was based on 74% kinetic. You and I took a risk thinking we might get an early jump on the post CU market, It is unfortunate for you that you decided to risk a great deal more then I did.

I think that question has been brought up a lot, and either the devs have remained silent on it, or have just chosen to ignore everything pre-CUrb and pretend that there's no such thing as a thriving economy that they're knocking off base with a change like this. If they can't garauntee to the people who make the items that the items they made, in support of this game, and for all the combatants to use and be merry with, they're going to lose a lot of players, and they won't be getting as many more back, whether or not they add a planet that wasn't even in the original episodes.

Maybe it wasn't the best response, maybe Caile should have said it a bit more gently, but as it is right now ALL armorsmiths on ALL servers are quite literally getting screwed. I used to be a DE, and so I thought that AS's and WS's were the only 2 loved professions in the game....now I see it was only WS's. How arrogant I was. So Caile wasn't saying that "you're" personally being screwed, he was saying "we're" as a collective group of players in a chosen profession getting screwed.

One thing is for sure though, I've seen a lot of new Corr's on all the boards lately...I wonder if SOE's wonderful CS rep Tiggs has taken that into her marketing polls.

or...or....maybe this is a decision that is coming down from above to make the game more compatible with other systems in an effort increase cross-platform sales. Maybe they handed down a list of demands they wanted to see the developers implement, regardless of the personal feelings of the people who created and have supported the game in the first place. When the higher ups were told "hey, this is gonna mess up the game, and piss off our customer-base" they lightly chuckled and said "who cares? We make way more money off these ALL ACCESS passes that we can charge more for basically the same service, and this will allow us to cut our support staff to a third and free up our develpment team for more projects at our whim. Even if we lose half of the current players we'll make that up in sales off of Episode 3 fans buying anything and everything with Star Wars written on it. It will be a feeding frenzy, and they're not going to want to think, they're going to want to play, and so we're going to make it nice and easy, and Mr.Anderson, you're going to help us whether you want to or not"

Oh wait...I think that last bit was from the wrong movie.

Oh yeah, the topic too....dern....okay:

Ubese is THE best PvE starting/hunting armor. It's cheap, it's light (great for rifleman) and you can mix and match if you're just looking for that kinetic edge...post cu....what will be the effect of mixing and matching different types of armor?

Comp can't come anywhere near Ubese as far as encumbrence goes, and that's why I've chosen Ubese over comp for when I got grinding or hunting. Comp will last a while, but when you gotta replace it it always leaves a big divot in the wallet (okay, not huge). At least there will be more armor variety in day-to-day playing...if there is any left. But this just isn't the way to go about it....I mean, there's just no incentive for a newer AS right to craft armor at all. It's silly.

I actually *DID* ask about it. There's nothing that I can personally do except ask the question. Quit blaming me for reporting an answer that you don't like. You're starting to irritate me which ISN'T easy to do. I care about the issue, so I can do 1 of two things:

1) I can waste time on a single issue that one person is screaming about because they took the risk of overstocking (don't tell me 300 suits of ubese isn't overstocking) and now it's coming back to bite them, or

2) I can can concentrate on other issues, like how to make sure we don't get shafted on item conversions (a.k.a. crated things such as layers, segments, etc) and resources and make things better in the long run.

From a business standpoint, you took the risk of running 300 suits. To me, 300 is an ungodly horrible amount of surplus. That isn't my fault in the least.

Don't EVER accuse me of not caring. I didn't have to take the time to respond to your PM (which was quite hostile to me in the first place) but I did.

To the rest of you, I apologize for the incredibly angry tone of this post, but Mr. Skywalker pushed every wrong button tonight.

Well, in spite of getting screwed, screwed and screwed again, I had quite a bit of fun passing out free Ubese tonight.

Please dont take this as a flame...

But we have known this was coming for a long long time.. and it has been stated hundreds of times that they where making no gaurenties that stuff would convert.. Most armorers took the chance and keep producing or do what tons of crafters did stop crafting and sell out stocks and wait..

How do you think i feel about my no ham 80% energy,/80 Kin RIS/Geo-bone gear that i spent 6 months making and finally finished it last week.. just to say i did its going to be turned into a crap worthless suit that i cant even wear its worth easy 10 mill

yea it sucks getting stuck with a few hundred suits.. but if your the kinda person that could make that many to begin with.. im sure you could restock /wink or do what i did.. put a big sign "GONE FISHING"

From Blair's Blog

http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/content.jsp?page=Blair's%20Blog

On to the Questions of the Day: Questions you asked over the weekend based on the document we published Friday.

  1. What's going to happen to all the existing items?

    • We are going to convert all existing itemsto what they need to be. In some cases, the functionality of an item no longer exists, so we will adapt it to make it useful under the new system. Stims (Stimulants) fall into this category. Many of you are concerned about weapons. In many cases the speed and damage values of your weapons will change. As part of the conversion, we are maintaining the scale of all the weapons across the servers. This means, that if you had one of the most powerful weapons on the server before CU, you will still have one of the most powerful weapons on the server after CU. Though it is likely the stats will have been altered.

Doesn't say a thing about armor, isn't that ironic...

Technically they didn't lie. They just didn't tell us the truth.

Well this is also Skywalker123 and I would reply to this but since our beloved new AS didn't like being questioned he reported me and had be banned for 22,000 hours (14 Days). I'm starting to think that Calli is an ALT of a DEV. HMMM I wonder if its chapstick's AS alt. Gotta love it when you present your issues that concern you the Corr doesn't like it and you get banned for flaming. Heck if this was a flame when I posted it MOST people on here should be banned right now. Just SAD

I don't think it had anything to do with the Corr not liking being questioned. Putting a personal spin on an issue that affects the entire community, which had been posted as a concern, and then throwing a tantrum when you don't get the answer you want is not going to help anyone.

We *are* a community and as such need to work together to get anything accomplished. I hate the CU just as much as the next anti-CU person but I realize that I'm not the only one getting screwed over. At least you have finished armor to convert... I have a number of factories full of ubese and comp segments that I have no idea if they are going to be useful for anything.

I fully support Caile just like I did Okram and I have no doubt in my mind that they have tried to preserve as much of our beloved profession as the Devs will allow.

Yes but see I didn't make the Armor FOR the CU. I too have a ton of segments left over and am not complaining about those. I'm talking about armor made MONTHS ago before there was any info disclosed by the DEV's about how armor would be changed. At the time it was made it was only known they were add some suits. It wasn't until very recently we found out how armor is being changed. If I made the Ubese after then, then yea sure the onus should be on me, but like I said this was made a long time ago.

And BTW do a fourm search I was the first person that publicly commented on why Ubese specifically can not be changed. There is a TON of Ubese out there and all the people that have it are going to have a worthless piece of armor, compared to at least Comp that can be converted decently.
