Thread: Can you repair my armor?

I just figured out the perfect solution to this, i tell everyone my armor has a liftime gaurntee, i will repair it, for free, for the life of the armor, And thati only repair my armor..its perfect
Hehe, while it may have sounded like a good idea at first, in business the term lifetime guarantee usually applies to the customers lifetime, notthe product in question!

I have also had my dealing with this in the past 2-3 weeks with people asking me to do some repairs. I have had a policy for a long time that I only repair armor that I make and I do it for free when I have the time. There is nothing worse then when you say no and they say "why" or try to make you feel bad about notfilling all their needs. I wish people would understand that as a crafter you don't sit in your shop crafting the whole time you are online. I try to take good care of my customers and will make the odd exception for those who I know to be a regular customer at my shop, but when somebody I have never seen or heard of before says I got your name from so and so saying you might be able to help me out and asks me to repair some armor that someone else made.../sigh. I do not refuse to repair armor in hopes that you will go and buy a brand new suit from me. I share a lot of what has already been said in the posts previous to mine about not liking the chances of repairing.
Another thing that bothers me is logging in and having tells sitting on my screen before I even load in. Unfortunately as crafters we can not provide office hours to those that will catch us in the worst places when you are out with your friends and you have them ask... yep.. "Can you repair my armor?"![]()

1. I know that I can't repair the jacket, 0 condition is 0 condition. But can *I* repair my armor as good as a Master Artisan or Master Armorsmith? (Assuming I have the same tool.) I repaired my weapon once and it turned out... poorly, so I'd like to hear educated opinions on the matter.
2. Many of the pieces have lost a lot of their effectiveness (60% kinetic instead of the 68% it started with). Will they regain that with repairs? If not when does armor start losing effectiveness?
I'm not trying to come off like an ass to you folks. But after sifting through nine pages of searched threads, and reading every stickied post you have from back to front, there are two things quite clear: First, the above two questions are not answered in the stickied posts, or in 9 pages of threads. Second, every time this is asked, people just keep ranting about people having the audacity to ask an armorsmith to repair their armor.
I'm a doctor, who likes to where his tag, but doesn't really like buffing people all the time. I feel your pain. I need to repair my armor, and I'll happily e-mail an Armorsmith to set up a time to do so--or I'll fix it myself--if someone could answer my two questions. Most of this Ubese has dropped to 60% kinetic from 68%. Can I try to repair it back up to 68% or is it gone for good? When does armor start losing effectiveness for future reference?
This has already been asked previously, but the rant just kept going by, as though the questions were never asked. So please, I sympathize that you hate people asking you repair their armor and bitching if you fail a piece. I hate people asking me how much I charge then bitching that I charge more than everyone else (as a deterrent), but if you came to the Doctor board and asked me a question about your class not contained in our FAQ or a simple search of posts, I'd acknowledge the post and try to help.
Please help.
Keep your eyes open for some light stuff. I make some 60-61% comp in the 500 range.
I basically carry 2 sets. One that's heavy with high resists and one that's light enough to wear all the time. I've found the stuff that's light to begin with is very nice with an encumbrance slice.
I about turn into a gibbering mass of goo when i get asked the question "can your repair my armor!!!"
Some times I am nice and say I dont carry repair tools with me while I am planet hopping (witch is true)
once in a blue moon I'll attempt a repair... Mostly for guild members only though!
Some times I explain that they have the same chance as I do..
and some times I just ask them did I make the armor???? Oh so its one of my competators armors... No I wont repair your armor for you...
and some times I just ignore them and go on my way...
But like most of us I dont need their 5 or 10k they are offering... Especially when I make that much in just a sale of a Composite part..
The sad thing is really that a MAS don't have a better chance or maybe even marginally better chance of success when trying to repair!!
I really think that one that can build a thing also can repair it! Ofcourse i dont think that it will be as it was when new, because then everyone would only need to buy one set of armors and then who would we sell our armors and weapons to!
I really would like to see the formula when trying to determine the seccess or failure of repairing!!
and what about the skilltapes and such with armor and weapon repairs on them. What do they add to?? I mean if i have an injury and wound treatment +5 it adds to my mod for that but i have never seen any mod in th skills like armor repair or weapon repair.
ahhh well im ranting!!
Because I'm so close to Theed, I belive I show up on a character search when people are at the starport. So I get some people asking. For awhile I'd say "no, too many failures," but now I figure if I send them a wp to my shop, perhaps they'll keep it and stop by sometime. So if they come to me, I'll do it for about 5k. Generally people are grateful even if I fail on a piece, and I tell them that it's very possible I will even though I'm a smith.
As someone else has said, what else am I doing besides waiting on factories?
