Thread: multi-component RIS drops are a bug
Eliminate all the serialed/bugged drops, and turn it back the way it was before.
After the combat balance, when groups of people are killing GDKs instead of soloists, turn the drops up so that when the loot comes around, there's enough for everyone.
and out of the irony or irony's, something I was doing to kill the many months before the devlopers can fix the combat situation, has been broken in of all thing... a jedi patch...
man even the irony of this is painful to write.....
ok I can accept even the fact that maybe if a combat balance happened, I shouldn't be able to get RIS.... but I'm not talking maybe's or what-if's... I'm talking about me, now, and the past 2-3 months...
it's fine for someone who hasn't wasted all of that time to say... "well maybe you should've even be doing this"... but that isn't the reality.. the reality is I could solo GDK's.. and I have... and that is the way the game was... and you can be rest assured.. not by MY choice... I'd rather be enjoying a well-balaned PvP situation.. or PvE situation.... I for one LOVED the 3-4 months it took me to get master fencer with groups... but this is the hand the developers gave me... and I ran with it...
and now even THAT was undermined by a "bug"... I guess you just want to prove me wrong or argue with me or something... but after my rant.. I assure you that only reason and hurt feelings remain.... if you don't see the hurt that's fine.... but one day the developers will make a mistake that costs people who aren't so "die-hard" starwars to question, why this deserves 1-2 hours of their day... or 10 hours a week... and maybe the pain in their pocket books will help them see that "foolish mistakes" really really hurt people who give a **edit**...

this armour is meant to be quest end armour high end elite, not something everyone can get and NO i'm not even RIS certified armoursmith not real much interest in it, my main interest lies with Mandalorian Armour and BH armour, and yes i wear BH armour in normal pvp but don't waste it in PVE, also for one of the smaller servers(valcyn) i know at3 ppl who wear RIS armour suits on a regular basis, one armour smith has recrafted certain pieces multiple times, bit wierd that on larger populated/exploited servers that people haven't ever seen RIS in action.
The reason being that the larger servers have 10 to 100 times the number of people looking for the items. It's easy to get looted components when you don't have to compete with lots of people trying to get the same items. On Bria, the geonosian caves are severly crowded during primetime hours. Your only prayer for getting some good loot is to go there at off peak hours, 7-9 a.m. EST appears to be the best time.
Due to SOEs brilliant server load compensating code, the more people who are on the server, the less random spawns that appear. This makes certian planets completely devoid of life. I have been to Lok and Dantooine, traveled well over 5000m on foot, and seenone wild spawn during prime time.
No one has yet to justify why a consumable item should be so rare that no one actually uses or even wears it. If they want to make something super rare, but completely useless, I'm cool with that. These armors will probably be the best armor in the game after the combat balance, yet no one can afford to use them.

I have a masters, and I write the same way he does on message boards... ( as I speak, rather than for a term paper

*5 stars to witcheez* I think that may be the proper solution.
Those who worked really hard on this, I feel for ya! I KNOW Charprime must be upset; he completed his set andthen a week ortwolater BAM! However, most of us agree that the drop rates were rediculous. I played UO in the beginning. It took over a year to master a crafting profession ( without illegal macroing, and even that took months). In a year, I still had only gotten to 93% carpentry ( playing several hours a day). Then they introduced *power hours*, shortening the time by months. They did away with that, but still way upped the rates. I had mixed emotions, but had to agree it was for the best. They ended up going too far ( IMHO), so you can now buy a template. However, they are still going strong after all these years. I played that for 5 years, but only stuck to EQ for 2 ( constant leveling , crafting was for garbage, raids needed to get loot).
I see SWG more and more going to EQ style, and it bothers me BADLY. More and more loot drops better than crafters can make. DOT dropped weapons are common, nice ones uncommon. Now we have a taste of it with this BH armor. ( Yes, my ranger now has a couple pieces far better than I could craft as a 12 point armorsmith). I got over the 100% comp boots that dropped off a krayt, as it was a legendary drop. But simply uncommon drops like BH armor? Like most people, I am waiting for JTL to make my final decision. Many are simply waiting on the combat rebalace and deciding from there.
I bought this game, NOT because it was *star wars* but because it was supposed to have a truly player crafted economy. The item limits here SUCK compared to UO ( anyone else loved decorating as much as I did?? ). The crafting is more complex, and I like that ( imagine cows and sheep having quality!). however, this move towards loot schematics, mandelorean-no quality required, just loot drops and pull a damned switch-, droppable alternatives to player goods......
YUCK.

I agree.
But its the usual garbage on here, the people that already completed the quest and have made a full suit are against the multiple drops (big surprise). When that crafting "fix" was going to go into effect that hugely favored 12 point smiths, all of them were totally for the fix, whereas all the 10 pointers were against it (it would have made 10 point armor garbage).
The thing is, nobody looks out for the "community", based on what I read on this board its pretty much everyone is looking out for themselves.
Even if RIS was medium armor with 90% resists, it still wouldn't be worn based on how impossible to obtain and costly it is. Even when my suit reaches 1/1 condition, I will still use it as Normal clothing. Since it will NEVER be destroyed by someone (all my other armor I pretty much destroy when it falls apart), we will be seeing more and more and more RIS in the game. A full suit is worth about 75 million credits, who in there right mind is gonna use that?
Me and my business partner haven't seen a GDK (only killed 8 so far) in over a week of hunting. I have camped the Temple for 2 weeks, kill 2-6 per day, and haven't had 1 drop. The loot drops are still very low.
ps...............What does it matter if the pieces have serial numbers now? Its not like you could factory produce RIS. Unless you are using the no serial number exploit for making Interwoven RIS segments.

???
I factory ran interwoven segments. Considering that the Nightsister layers, shards, and power cubes all required matching serials I don't consider it an exploit.
