The gist of your post is that armor needs to be revamped. At least thats what I got out of it, and I'm sure others did too. And we're just here to tell you that there is going to be a change. Its going to happen, you're just going to have to wait and see it for yourself.

More like an example of "Armor needs to be completely reworked and it needs X, Y, and Z specifically. Wht do you think of X, Y, and Z?" It's like "Our fottball team needs to draft Joe Schmo from State U.," and getting the response "Trust us, there's is a team and it will make draft picks. The fact that you completely missed X, Y, and Z does not inspire the faith that you ask me to have.

I disagree with some of your X Y and Z, agree with some of it

we are working on X Y and Z and we like what we see

I would love to tell you about this stud we plan on drafting, we know who it is, but we don't show our hand on draft day till we actually take the card up and select our pick

be pessimistic if you want, we arent

in my opinion i think they need to change creature damage type. since just about every npc, or mob do mostley kinetic damage. This makes almost all other protections useless. so even if you change armor to have one type of protection and another armor to have another type of protection, the armor with kinetic will still be the Highest seller. This applys to PVE of course.

Now for PVP. If you PVP then stun composite, the way it is now, is the ONLY way to go because it only has a max of 40% stun protection (on wanderhome anyway). This means that MOST, but not all people use jawa's or stun batons or geo pistols in PVP. If SOE changes the armor protection by making one type of armor have better protection then another then this will now effect the weaponsmiths. For the good or bad, i dont know and cant predict this. But I do know if they take out Cold protection (which I dont know of anyone or anything (NPC) that does this type of damage or uses a cold damage type weapon, which NO melle char can do atm, we will see a huge spike in Sg82 rifles that cant be krated but i belive can be enhanced by spider fangs. Like I said this can be good and this can be bad, but with this issue it can seriously impact the WS as well as AS.

With this said, PSG's must stay stackable. If the stacking of this is removed, then PSG's will (the way they are now) be useless. Jedi cant use them, most kinetic mobhunting PVE'rs cant use em. The only people who do use MOSTLY are pvpers cuz of the stun damage protection.

no matter what the devs come up with to fix this armorsmith issue. I feel sorry for them cuz they got their hands full. I belive this can either make or break this game for most of the crafting proffesions. They of course can fix this back to the way it was after they change it, but who knows how many good crafters and type of crafters SWG may lose by then.

I am in support of some kind of Armor change, what kind? i dont know, im no DEV and will leave that up to them. I can only enjoy it and keep playing or get sick of it and buy eq2. Any which way you look at it SOE wins

But when they nerfed guns like the Fwg and Launcher pistols. I rarely see many pistoleers anymore and those that i do see do not use fwgs much anymore, making some weapons almost useless.

good luck to you devs yall gonna need it with this change, no wonder its taking you guys so long to do this Combat Rebalance

I feel your pain .

peace

So does your NDA prevent you from commenting on what you like and dislike about any of my X, Y, and Z? At this point my concern is not that you have Joe Schmo on your draft board right now, it's that I want to say why I think he's a money pick and lobbying to get him to the top when you get on the clock.

Well basically the whole point of my idea is to make it so composite is not the only way to go. If everybody does kinetic damage, then kinetic will be popular but it will be at the cost of other protections. That means some guy will come in and start using fire damage which most armor will be weak in because it put everything into kinetic. Now some people will get fire protection, so a few people find that acid is a soft wpot in most armors. Thus we have different people wearing different armor, not everyone wearing composite with 80%+ across the board.

Well you have to throw out "the way they are now" because the whole idea is to have them not be "the way they are now." And once again as above, maybe 90% of people won't have them because they choose armor, but that is a choice that has positives and negatives (something the current system sorely lacks.)

i understand your point. what i was saying in my first part of my statement was pertaining to PVE. Almost every creature or NPC does kinetic damage. Composite can be used as the best PVE or best PVP armor atm. So what i meant was if they make one certain type of armor withONLYkinetic protection then all its gonna do is make whatever armor the devs choose to have high kinetic damage the next composite. Since most people do not PVP they will just buy whatever armor has high kinetic damage. making most other armor types useless. This is why i belive that the damage types creatures do should vary. Of course they need to change armor protections as well for this to work so it is going to have to be a joint change not just armor.

As for PVP, making armor protections to certain armor types would be perfect since All players have the option to change there fighting style or weapons, depending on the armor they see their enemys wearing. So its not much of a problem for pvp.

and you cant throw out my statement as you said "the way they are now"because NObody will PvP without armor. So unless PsGs have Full High resists, nobody will ever wear them making them completley useless to everyone. If they make PSG'S high resits then noonewill need armor anymore and just buy PSG's. I dont see this happening so there wont be much of a choice of armor or PSG's. everyone will go for whichever has high resists. Personally id rather walk around with a high resist crate of PSG's and keep popping one every time i am in a fight. But then armor would be useless. So I think PSG'S need to stay stackable. Especially if they are gonna take out and change resists. Which im all for. I'm just laying down some ideas of why JUST shifting protections to armor and not changing the type of damage creature deal out can cause a problem to the armorsmith proffesion as well as combat proffesions.

And like you say, if the Devs make the damage types vary, there will be a reason to choose something different. Personally I would go for high enrergy because I hate melee in all its forms and I try to avoid any fight that might involve melee. I know I'm a very small minority that way, but you get the point.

And as for PvP, if the Combat Upgrade (and the later promised GCW Upgrade, though it is so far in the future I can't imagine) is not a failure, then more people will PvP. PvP is what the system makes it, and right now the system makes it unfun and prohibitive to most players. If you didn't need a few million credits and all your skill points just to last 5 seconds against some superbuffed guy fighting with his bare hands while he heals himself, people would be more inclined to try it.

Did you miss thewhole balance theme I had going? I think PSGs would be a good choice for an energy-only armor type, and there simply has to be a midpoint where they become useful. With buffs fixed, would you trade 50% resist for 33% if it had no encumbrance as opposed to 75%? I would. The trick is in those numbers being tweaked to the point where it's basically a coin flip.
