If its viable for you, you can always turn your alt into a ranger. This cuts my prices down astronomically, as I am selling unlayered armor for only 350k.

I'm currently Master smug/Master armor. Should I try to change toi ranger instead of smug? (smug so I canbuy factional armor for factional armor).

I think you can get Novice Scout, and probably some of the Hunting line there. That's enough, especially if you can use a harvesting droid for the purpose (perhaps not in a fast group).

I tested it with my Jedi around the start of the CURB ... PC towns didn't seem worth the trouble whenI saw too-low missions, so I checked the NPC cities. Theed and Keren were around CL 15, Kaadara (Jedi running missions out of THERE!?) and Moenia were CL 80. The same thing happens on Corellia and Tatooine, I think.

I remember the days when you could actually start from scratch in this profession ... not anymore ... 30 mil minimum venture capital to get going ... resource costs are astronomical ... remember when a newby rifleman could work for a few days doing group solo missions and come knocking at your door for a set of ubese? ... at least it explains the barc speeder

Not true at all. You can start off a lowly newb and build a great crafting empire. Just find good spots to mine reosurces, sell them for $$$, buy grind resources with the profits, sell your grind items for cheap onthe bazaar, make master, keep improving your resources, make some good items and undercut some of the bigger guys, grab your own little share of the pie. Invest profits into bigger harvs, or eventually pay some younglings a few CPU for a particular hide or resources that you need. Sure it takes time, but eventually you can succeed, older crafters will eventually quit the game or move on to a different profession, you can too be a millionnaire!
