Thread: Have Jedi ruined your business?

Sorry if this upsets you, but in my opinion, veteran smiths who did the two-year legwork to grind out their toons, get their resources, pay their dues, and build their operations damn well should have a marked advantage over the "Respec Ricks" who are looking for a quick buck.
Actually, it doesn't upset me..I just wanted to give you a little insight. It's not like us "Respec Ricks" bought the game yesterday or anything. The only people that I know of that have abused the respec system are those that grinded Master Image Designer, then respec'd into their desired profession. Coincidentally (And to refer back to the intent of this thread) those were maily Jedi player's second toons. They found a free round trip ticket, which the devs should have forseen. Anyway, Guys like me have paid our dues..I mean, I did drop master shipwright for master armorsmith. It cost me about 7 million credits and3 weeks to get that.....I'd say those are dues, not to mention I did grind to 2 0 0 2 and intended to grind the whole way until the addional respec was granted, but I digress. Please don't feel that AS's were the only ones screwed. There are now caps on weapons very similar to the armor caps. It sux. Anyway, If I'm doomed to be a "Respec Rick", then so be it.
Finally, to address your concers of unfairness of not having a two year AS grind (which is ludicrus....it shouldn't take 2 years, to be a successful AS)...... a 30k resource deed will not last very long, and I don't know the going price, but I bet they are like 10 CPU or higher, so $300k for 30k of a single resource will take a fortune to get a heafty stockpile of all the resources they need. It will probably take me 6 months or so to harvest the resources I need to be competitive if I choose to pump out lots of armor. Grinding our toons also took time, it's just that the time was spent gaining different skill boxes, in my case it was shipwright, others it may have been rifleman. I only have bitterness towards those that actively chose to defeat the system by performing an easy grind like Image Designer, then respec'd over, but I doubt those went Armorsmith anyway, since Jedi don't use armor, and I doubt they are willing to spend the time making armor, they'd rather run around like idiots like most Jedi tend to do. Anyway, we'll pay our dues, we have to do many of the things that you did in order to even hope to be as good of an armorsmith as The mighty Brutus_Krylop is. Oh...and building their operations is not a respecable skill.
Respec Rick

Seeing as Jedi do not need armor (or weapons) and it seems that on Wanderhome the jedi population has exploded, has this had an impact on your sales?
On Wanderhome, there is a very noticeable lack of Armorsmiths still in practice. According to some I have spoken with, its just too hard to make armor now, takes too long and the results are not very satisfying.
I think all of this is made worse by the fact that there are so few PVPers left that are not Jedi. PvP players used to eat up armor.
I am asking because I do not think the Devs considered the impacts on the player economy by letting jedi run amok.
Thanks,

Odd, You asked a guildy of mine about an armorsmith and he gave you my name... Shame though I only do custom stuff and you are a bh that came after me.. Why would I want to help my enemy?
Jedi don't effect sales as there are still tons of non-jedi. I don't wear armor on any toons of mine since my alt is a TKM with innate armor as well. But unless you have Jedi or TKM you NEED armor so yeh sales won't drop to drastically.
As for jedi running amok... that is the outcome of this game.. how many people started playing this game because they were promised the ability to become a Jedi? Heck I wasn't even one of them I never really wanted to be a jedi until after playing for a year+ and had nothing better to do but grind for one.
Heya Mert. By-gones, by-gones. Anyway, to help clarify my point, since a lot of PvPers are now only using their jedi, it stands to reason that armor demand is dropping. After thinking about it, this is the conclusion I came up with.
I may have come after you, but I didn't shoot you. You were already in your house. So I left. I don't discriminate, I will go after any jedi, so don't take it personally. It's just my job ![]()

I was afk at that
Hey samijx, I dont think most smiths are upset with the respec players to the profession. I think unfortunately, you guys are catching alot of the heat because of how the whole armorsmith situation was handled by chapstick. Had the armorsmiths been dealt with in a more fair form by soe, I dont think anyone would see the lack of respect that some are giving to respec players.
Me personally, I dont care that we have respec smiths, thats kewl with me. What frustrates me more, is that a respec player who comes in with 10 points of experimentation, is now just as good as a the ones who paid millions of credits to become a 12 pointer. When chapstick did the profession as he did, he basically hamstrung the players who have been in the profession through think and thin. I myself have been a smith since 10/03, and with the respec, it was basically throwing my hard work down the drain. I know other classes were done the same way, but its still frustrating non the less.
In addition, its now all about the resources. The armors have no diversity. I said it before and I will say that again. Prior to the cu, I use to work predominately with padded armors on my server. Most other smiths shyed away from padded. Now padded is a dime a dozen, as well as ubese. The armor is nothing more than clone armor. When this was brought out prior to cu coming in from our testers, they were basically told tough by chapstick. In addition, chapstick told the armorsmith community that he increased our resources so that rangers would still have a need. And allthough i do know that the ranger/scout community did need loving, the be resource requirements were not increased near what ours were. Heck, even tailors were not hamstrung with the increased creature resources as we were. When this was brought out, we were all basically told yet again tough.
I know what ive posted here might seem like a rant, but this is a basic form of events that did transpire here sometime ago. Zion might dispute this, and if so thats kewl, but in factuality, you can do searchs and indeed find some of what I said previously in other threads where indeed chapstick did state it.
