Thread: Have Jedi ruined your business?
well dunno how it looks like on yuor servers , but as to farstar , we are pretty blessed with jedi, but as to sales since cu hit live i sold 4k pieces of armor.
well resourses are hard to get now but like for cu did pretty nice economy impact to AS prof , i cant say bad word about it ( in economy ofc , since rest of it sucks)
on Corbantis i see no slow down. with the increase of Jedi yes, but there has also been a huge jump in BH's, Carbiners, and riflemen.
BH's hunting Jedi actually helps the sales as they do some decent damage to the BH's armor and with the decay issues i don't see it hurting.
I actually see a lot of BH's coming back about every 2-3 days for a new set of armor, at least for some parts.
the biggest hurt i see was SOE's fault by killing us AS's with the resources.

All those new Jedi? They get alts. And with Jedi now having armor-resistable damage, it's definitely worth it for people to be wearing high-energy armor.
The only things "ruining" my business right now are the factory colorization problems, the general non-utility of PSGs, and the fact that any "Respec Rick" armorsmith can buy a few 30K deeds and crank out the same stuff I can.

I can't answer your question as I am a new armorsmith...but Jedi are quickly ruining the SWG experience for me. It is so annoying that every time I turn around there's some group of Jedi F'ing off, dueling, playing games, or gang bang PvP.

Umm ... yeah ... feel free to take offense if you want, but I think you totally missed my point.
Let me put it this way: There is a cap on armor resists now. This cap is ridiculously easy to hit for unlayered cores. Those of us who spent two years in the armorsmith profession gathering resources, making armor, striving for the "perfect" armor sets (ridiculously low-HAM 80/80 RIS, anyone?) sort of feel devalued by this new system.
Twelve points? No longer needed or even very worthwhile.
Server best resources? As long as you can get 5600 cores, who cares?
Organic stockpiles that you led groups to get months ago, hoping they'd be useful someday? Hah, let's just use our 30K resource deeds!
Heck, throw in slicing, and you don't even need to get anywhere near capped armor -- the slice will do it for you!
Prior tothe CURB, armorsmiths were easily differentiated by their products. Base resists of 73% were superior to 69%, though the savvy customers knew that 80 Electric (or Cold) / 71% base was generally better for them than 80 Kinetic / 73 base. Some smiths were doing 80x3 builds. Some did low-HAM. You also had your stun armors.
Now? Unlayered 7K/5K/6K Assault, 6000 Battle, and 5K/7K/6K Recon are the order of the day. No one really bothers to look at condition, and any differences are generally minor. If you see any layered armor at all, it's going to be 4EL Recon, or maybe some 4PL suits. Occasionally you'll see some 4KL Assault or even 4EL Battle. But by and large, everyone's making the same stuff.
Sorry if this upsets you, but in my opinion, veteran smiths who did the two-year legwork to grind out their toons, get their resources, pay their dues, and build their operations damn well should have a marked advantage over the "Respec Ricks" who are looking for a quick buck.
Have TKMs ruined your business? I mean, TKMs used to use armor and tanking stuff used to destroy armor!
/sarcasm off
How many doctors used to wear armor? Now most will. I admit that the resources required to make are are insane now, but it is still doable.
And before you complain too much, realize that on some servers, Radiant for example, comp armor that is 5500 to all stats and 40+K condition only sells for 225-250k.
Good luck!
as for everything else... buisness slowed down dramatically since I went to custom order only, think I sell average 2-3 suits a day.

Seeing as Jedi do not need armor (or weapons) and it seems that on Wanderhome the jedi population has exploded, has this had an impact on your sales?
On Wanderhome, there is a very noticeable lack of Armorsmiths still in practice. According to some I have spoken with, its just too hard to make armor now, takes too long and the results are not very satisfying.
I think all of this is made worse by the fact that there are so few PVPers left that are not Jedi. PvP players used to eat up armor.
I am asking because I do not think the Devs considered the impacts on the player economy by letting jedi run amok.
Thanks,
Eawet
I've seen the exact opposite on Wnaderhome. I can't keep up with demand. I also know many smiths that don't stock non faction armor on vendors due to the coloring issues. Myself and others simply make non faction armor by order only to ensure the customer gets what they want. I'm still selling 5-10 suits a day.
