yea to be honest with you i know 95% of the cores that i have seen are not worth using compared to ones i can make.. BUT
people want suits for decoration, and some people dont want to spend the money or have the money to spend on armor. I have lots of freinds that hunt and such and are hooking me with cores for free.. which in turn im going to make into armor and sell suits for about 50-75k 1k hide 40cpu - about 40k (thats what i pay my hunters) Pluss metal.. Im hoping to make an alternative armor thats atleast partaiclaly decent : )
Soo ill have low range stuff that doesnt cost to much to make.. and if they want to spend the bucks for the good crafted stuff then they can.. but with a selection they wont feel that we as armorers are trying to take advantage. After checking my galaxies vendor search there was me and twoother smiths that had any armor at all.. One only had some what i would consiter half way decent wookie armor.. an easy stock as not many wookies : ) and the other selling imp who has been sold out since the game went live and me.. that only sells full suits of reb,. Atleast right now im not even worried about low end though.. i swamped.. but when i slow.. loot cores might be viable..
hmm tat ehh?? maybe dewbacks? or those other lizzards?? or possibly my favorite thing to hunt.. the mighty bantha !

Has anyone tried hunting brackeset (not sure of the spelling) on Dathomir? They used to drop segments before the CU?

I've looted Advanced Assault Cores off of Kraytes with some regularity, and the stats have hovered around 6.4k Kinetic, 4.4k Energy and 5.4k for the rest. After an armorsmith is done with them, the values usually jump a bit. Would that be better or worse then what's crafted?
Also, and I wish I could remember what I looted it from, but I had an advanced battle core and I did not loot it from a Rancor - something else out there is dropping 'em.

Looks like I have some killing to do for this weekend. So many creatures to hunt to see if they drop the legendary RECON cores. If the others are manufacturable I am sure they are as well, but I still find it fun to ease the suffering for Armorsmiths in the time it takes to make all the armor now.
What is funny about the search is that it is intriguing to me as of how they are not as popularly hunted as the remainder. I might try to browse the bazaar, however, and send out some emails, as long as it could save me a trip to Endor hunting for the grand Gorax or the arachane family though maybe the Blurgs have some hope, and Yavin4... I cringe at the thought.. lol.

There have been reports of krayts dropping recon cores, too. According to the loot guide and a post or two I've seen.

I've tried them, they drop basic (crap) cores. I don't know what they thought the market would be for basic cores, when it takes such an extremely short period of time to grind up to idiotic level 80, and resists just don't mean what they used to with combat level damage modifiers...the whole CU stinks for AS really in terms of what they did to armor.

I have yet to see a Core of any type and looted from any MOB that I would consider using in armor. A few have decent stats but with resources as high as they are I would rather make the best armor I can rather than just ok armor.
There has actually been some good drops of battle armor cores on chilastra. I have been able to make up some looted cored armors with 5850+ on several occassions. In addition, looted core armors seem to have higher condition ratings than the ones we make. The set I just made up for a customer, had a 57k condition on the final product for padded armor with 5861 resists.
Also, I had someone bring me some recon cores, but I didnt think to ask him where he got them. They werent the best, but were still cores non the less. When i get home tonight, I will try to contact him to see where he got them. Im thinking it was from kimogilas, but not 100% sure.

I did some RIS for display for a guy using looted cores. The resists were nothing to get excited about, but I hit 109k on condition when I usually get 102k.

Havent seen recon cores for awhile, krayts were dropping them a few publishes ago. I would echo others comments, the condition on looted advanced cores is higher than I can craft, even with 12 points and great resources. I buy any I see with stats over 5400 base and sell armor made from them at a slight premium.
