Can someone please explain to me how the bonus for living in a research center works. I put in a CSR and they told me to check the boards. Just how does it help armorsmiths.

It increases the chance of good experimentation results (good, great, amazing). Basicly it is an area specific increase in the die rolls used to determine how your experimentation goes.

overall i find i get less crits and moderates in a research center, but that dont mean i dont get bad days,it seems they come in groups hehe.can go a week without seeing any then just rains moderates in 1 day.

I live out in the open fields of Naboo, near Theed, pretty near a player city but not actually in it.

I have no FS crafting stuff, just normal MWS with 12 exp points and (I just counted, didn't realize I had this much) +28 weapon assembly. I occasionally (not always) eat Pyollian Cake with +13 Crafting Bonus and Bespin Port +10 Experimentation Bonus. My crafting station is +43.55xxxxx.

I haven't seen a critical fail or even a moderate success in so long, I'd almostforgotten what they look like.

The nearby player city is a Reseach Center, and I very occasionally make the trip into try to take advantage of that.. bonus. I had 1 crit and *3* moderate successes yesterday there. Nothing special or spectacular, but I'd picked up some new resources and was curious how much boost I'd get onnew ABPH, so I headed over.

The only differences were the Research Center status of the player city, and the fact I stood in front of their crafting station instead of mine at home. Location is obviously different too.

Is it just me, or is there something wrong here? I know this isn't any scientific comparison, but I'm not kidding about lack of crits/mods when I'm at home. I don't understand how my crafting could have gotten so many bad rolls in this situation. Have others noticed similar statistics?

I travel to a research center to make schematics. I find I get fewer moderates when I do. I use my droid as the crafting station though. Droid crafting stations have a "null" rating... so no one is quite sure how that affects things.

Well, you're lucky.

I have a 15.0 Tool, 43.xx station and it will sometimes take me 20 tries to get the schematic I want.

I do my crafting in a Research Center(Helios) and rarely have critical failures. Moderates are a little more common, as I don't have much into Assembly, but nothing that I ever worry about. I percieve a drop-off in crafting rolls when I do it out of Helios, but have never done any conclusive research into it. Crafting is just flaky, what else can be said.

I think there are some bugs. I was standing in my 40+ station with 14.25 tool (City isn't crafting specialization) and after 20 experimental tries I couldn't get better than a good success. I was so frustrated I logged out. When I came back the next day and tried again, same thing started happening. So I decided to drop everything in my inventory I didn't need. (Resources mostly, a few components, and a weapon or 2) My next experiment was a great success. I believe that I was bugged because of having something in my inventory.

Well, at least it's not *my* tax dollars going into the Research spec. I guess I'm just staying at home to craft from now on =)

How big of an impact does a research center really make?

I will be a master shipwright tommorow and im trying to decide if I need to setup in a research center or not. Due to the fact shipwright does not have factories, I will have to make everything by hand and just take orders from people. My guild is setup way out on tatooine. im trying to decide if I should setup really close to cornet for easy access or if it would be worth setting up way out on tatooine to get the bonus.

First and foremost you need to have politician at 4-x-x-x. This gives the mayor the ability to set the City to research center. Second, and just as important as the first option, your city has to be a metropolis.

Unless you have those 2 things you cannot set your city to Research Center.
