Thread: Research Center

Does anyone have confirmation yet as to exactly how this works?

My city is currently debating a few options, and not knowing exactly how research center works is making it difficult.

Does it work by increasing the experimentation skill by 15%? Which means 1.5 extra experimentation points for masters? Or is it something else?

Also, can anyone crafting inside the city gain the bonus or is it limited to residents?

We are struggling with the same issue, but apparently no one on Test, none of the many Player cities, have used the Research SPecialization. Either that, or they dont check these Boards. Or they dont feel like answering. Either way, there are those of us still out here looking for information on this important topic.

Does it give you more points? More consistent Great sucesses? More Amazing? Can a Master Weaponsmith "beat" his own best creations with this bonus, using exactly the same resources? If so, by about how much? Basically, is it worth the 80k? Or is the Crit failure thing better overall (in your opinion)? Can a non-citizen get the bonus? Or will there be a single city in each Galaxy with this Bonus that everyone drops by to make schematics at (and not bothering to buy there because they want to spend their money in their own city).

See....no one seems to know, or care (if they know and dont respond).

Friday we should have this active, and I can definitely post how it works after that.

We have the assembly bonus active now - and of course, some people swear by it, others say it makes no difference, yet others say it is worse Not much different from the debate of the effectiveness of crafting stations and tools.

The crit failure thing is always streaky so it is really hard to tell with the crit failure assister skill. Given how much our armor smiths craft I am pretty confident that they should be able to tell pretty well friday/saturday on exactally what this skill does.

I am thinking it will turn out to be 15% chance of better crafting roll when experimenting so more amazing and other high end successes.

If it flat out gave a 15% boost to your experiment skill which for masters would give you another experiment point it would be HUGE!!!

I agree. I would be shocked if it gives you more experimentation points - I think it just gives you a slightly better chance to get an amazing success. So it will be like with the manufacturing specialization - there will be debate as to whether it even works

I searched through and couldn't find anything, so I was wondering how exactly the Research Center spec works. I've added it to my city with no apparent results to crafting, need less to say the crafters are a bit disappointed. So whast the deal with Research Center, and how does the other crafting city spec work out?

they seem to be working fine.. alot of people expected this to work like skilltapes and ad another full roll on experiementation.. or assembly ... but it doesnt work like that... and unfortunatly there is no confirmation that u recieve the bonus..

how it works is it adds 15% to the actual roll itself.. so you are less likely to crit fail..and more likely to have great and amazing succeses... as long as you are in the city city limits..

it works pretty good.. my city is filled with quite a few crafters.. and it is working great for us... (either that ... as soon as we turned it on we all got incredibly lucky ....) last night... had 5out of 7 amazing results..

anyway hope that helps

We got it this week and the crafters are reporting gretaer "amazing successes" than usual. So I gather it raises your experimentation roll, but does not allow you to go over what you could achieve before. You just won't see as many failures, and your average experimentation result will be better.

To sum up, we won't get better items off it, but lousy failures are going to be less common.

Then what the hell is the difference between the manufacturing spec and the research spec? Nothing? They are supposed to do different things. Manufacturing spec should increase the amount of amazings, and research should increase the over all product (how good it is).

They shouldn't do the same thing.

true, they shouldnt do the same thing.. the experimentation bonus should give us at least one more point to work with.. but i dont have any different stats then the stuff i made before
