1) The devs have already said, gated resources are taken into account, and don't hold back the final combine quality ( or our stun layers would look a whole lot worse)

What does that mean exactly? I thought the maximum possible resistance equals the weighted average resource stat divided by 1000 (expressed in %). So if the weighted average equals 954, you can experiment up to 95%. Is this any different for gated resources?

2) You yourself pointed out your segments are alot less than mine. My final combine ingredients are also undoubtedly alot better. I specialized in maberi from get go ( more than 6 months ago), even AFTER I mastered. It's one reason I had a huge stockpile of ditanium when the imp shields came out, when many others didn't. ( As well as high quality scaley and bristley, I actually traded ubese for those hides).

I doubt whether your final combine ingredients are a lot better than mine. Thats what makes it so hard to believe for me. Here are my resources:

Metal OQ 959 SR 970
Hide OQ 917 SR 967
Fiberplast OQ 948 SR 949
Inert Petrochemical OQ 982 SR 964

Oh and I experiment up to 95% resulting in 26% base resist.

3) Just looked in my house, and found a2 34% krayt/voritor pieces left on my vendor, made with only 4% scales. I had some 8.5 % base segments still in my medium house, but they aren't there anymore ( I gave my resources to Dova). I'll get ahold of him. He is now a 12 point smith I believe. If not, I'll ask him for some samples, and I'll give it to Charprime.

I hope you manage to reproduce this

4) I remember asking Sunai to help me with my segments/final combine, because I couldn't max them as a 10 pointer, and he agreed ( however, I got my 12 points right after that, and he quit playing). At the time I was getting 28%, with only 6.8% or so segments. That means the segments maxing took me up to 30% and final combine maxing to 32%.

If this is true then again there is something messed up with the crafting models.

Gated just means the resource won't go above (or below)a certain level. Apparently, the developers decided that certain resources should have certain qualities. ie. Copper is usually a good conductor, whereas iron typically isn't. A good idea IMO, adds some depth.

For example. Have you ever seen Kiirum steel with MA higher than 100? I guess this steel is fairly brittle.

This in no way changes the equation. It just limits the possible weighted figure. In the case of Kiirum, I wouldn't want touse it for making light layers.
