Um, nobody said it wasn't Imperial (the chestplate does pretty clearly resmble the Imperial Army chrestplate, as seen on General Veers). The point was to clarify that it wasn't chitin and certainly wasn't made of anything like chitin, but rather a type of metal.

Context is they key here, you see.
