Heh,.ya know,..I thought it only shifted when tak'in shuttles or even logg'in. But the blasted things shift when travel'in between cities for cry'in out loud too!

I actually found the spot between Anchorhead and Bestine where it 'shifts' and ran back and forth watching it shift before my very eyeballs,..good times!

For cry'in out loud, Dev's, can ya do something already? I gotta log, shuttle hop, etc,..just ta get these puppies to display a decent stat just so I can sell them. Even if people know they shift, it still looks better ta at least Start with decent resists

Energy won't shift,..it's it's primary or special protection. Most of the time, Energy is the top most resist and I have Never ever seen this change due to a bug. Now,.al the other resist, they change like the wind.

Whenever ya log, whenever ya shuttle hop,.whenever you travel via walk or speeder to another city, and even, get this,..if you retrieve it from a bazaar, like if it doesnt sell or somthing.

One thing to note, though, schematics don't change or suffer from this bug.

But,..rumor has it on publish 8, they boasted they'll have this shiftin all fixed and whatnot.

so, hopefully, we won't have this problem anymore.

What about the Ubese shirts and Bandoliers? I've noticed different vulnerabilities in crafting both of these, but I'm not sure if they shift in travel like the others. Anyway, I made 5 of each and these are the resulting vulnerabilities:

Ubese Shirts

1. Energy, Blast, Stun, Restraint

2. Heat, Cold, Acid, Electricity

3. None

4. None

5.Stun, Heat

Ubese Bandoliers

1. Restraint, Heat, Acid

2. None

3. Kinetic, Blast

4. Energy, Blast, Stun, Heat, Cold, Electricity

5. None

Ubese shirts/bandoliers have no resists so the listed vulns doesn't really matter.

I have noticed that RIS no longer shifts. But it has a constant Acid, Stun vulnerability. I crafted two pieces two days ago and they havent shifted. Both have acid/stun vuln. I crafted a piece two weeks prior and it has the same acid/stun vulnerabilities.

To tell you the truth, you will never see RIS in pvp because of the vulnerabilties they placed on it. If it's supposed to be a fantastic armor, why does it have vulnerabilities. It would be useless against most professions.

RIS is indeed supposed to have vulnerabilities. In fact, there aren't supposed to be any armors that have no vulnerabilities. I've learned what the vulnerabilities are supposed to be for tantel...I'm just waiting on permission to release them (and hopefully also find out the vulns for PSG's and RIS).

This is the thing that has always bothered me about people's perceptions about RIS. Please, please, someone show me something, somewhere, where RIS was advertised as anything but a relatively lightweight armor for high kinetic resist.

Also remember that the PvP population is still a minority, so certain vulnerabilities do not matter to a large percentage of players.

Both armorsmiths and customers seem to have made the error of equating rarity and difficulty with high quality, or near-invincibility. Granted, the initial shifting vulnerabilities problem gave many the hope that it would be resistant to everything, or perhaps even stun, but that would have run contrary to the developers' statements that all personal armors are inherently vulnerable to stun, with the exception of personal shield generators.

The acid vulnerability makes sense on some level, as aside from composite, all other personal armors have at least one vulnerability to the an environmental damage (acid, heat, or cold). However, acid seems to be a preferred damage type of the development team for some reason. A heat/cold tandem may have made more sense, but then you'd just have a carbon copy of Ubese.

What is the rationale for this anyways? I mean it's like which armor has only a vulnerability to Blast (for PvE)? or Cold (for PvP)? Hmmmm, oh yeah, not one! And RIS requires Giant Dune Kimo Scales which are basically only slightly less rare than the Genoshian Sonic Blaster Schematic or the Acklay Interwoven RIS Schematic. Why shouldn't a suit that takes 100 million credits worth of EFFORT have no vulnerabilities?

Why should it?

It's eye candy, plain and simple.

People will put 100 million credits worth of effort into something for any reason, be it bragging rights, personal gratification, the best looking house, etc.

You can't always equate time and credits with power.

That is reasonable enough, but what most people here fail to catch as significant is the statement that NO armor should be without vulnerabilities--Stun Composite anyone?

Ok, ok, I mispoke. The word I've gotten time and time again is that it should be extremely difficult to make armor with no vulnerabilities, and that when you do at least one of the resists should be substantially low(i.e.: stun composite).

Indeed, there are only four armor types which can have no vulnerabilities, and they have varying grades of usefulness:

  • Stun-layered Composite

  • RIS with both a stun and an acid layer

  • Padded made with either Sharnaff Plating or Krayt Scales, and then a stun layer. Rancor Hides would work as well, combined with a stun and an acid layer.

  • Ubese made with either Sharnaff Plating, Krayt Scales, or Rancor Hides, and also a stun layer.

I can't seem to find an archive of the "friday features", but when it was initaly released, it was clearly stated it was supposed to protect from stun....
