Thread: Experimenting on Condition for Cores?

Are crafting droids generally as good as stationary stations....and if it "depends" how can I tell?
This is actually a point of debate. There are a few theories about droids vs stations. The one that makes sense to me is that because a droid has no crafting rating, the crafting process only accounts for your tool's ability. So a +15 crafting tool and a droid will equal maximum boost to successful crafting.
But like I said...a few different theories on this.
I have both a 45 station and a crafting droid..and I have to say that I get much better results w/ the station. I can make the exact same thing using the same resources and everything...and I'll get less critical failures w/ the station. While this could just be a random thing...if I'm crafting something that really matters..like RIS or BH armor...I'll trust my station over my droid anyday!

I am the reverse, I seem to get much better socket results when I craft with my droid at a starport compared to at my house with my 44.5 station. This is with using the same tools, same 12/25 point suit, resources etc. I never get anything less than a great success at either station or droid now that I have one box of fs experimentation. Almost at my 2nd box now after a couple of months of custom order work
Just have to drop a note in here to say WOW! What a great thread that illustrates what I have ben seeing in this forum since starting as an armor smith a few weeks ago. A tremendous willingness to help each other out, even on what some would call basic topics.
/hats off to armorsmiths!

Agreed--I'm new at this profession, trying to get something going very quickly for the TC-GCW on TC, and y'all have been a great help.
Thanks for all the info and advice.

Yes, extra points help immensely.
FYI, I went from crafting in my house (with a droid) without buffs, where I go about 1 crit, 2 goods, and the rest greats, to getting buffed, and using my droid in a research center, where I would consistently get about 3-4 out of 10 amazings, and the rest greats. That's without any tapes or other mods.

sounds about right.. I still hit around 5-6 though per 10, mainly cause I have a house in a research city, a 49.999 level CS, +25 mods for assembly and experimentation, plus a buff..
