He got fired for taking drastic action in order to get the developers to make the profession worth something in the post CU world. As it sits now armor in the CU is almost completely worthless and does almost nothing to help protect you what so ever. It will be more expensive due to increased resource requirments and increased manufactor time not to mention that the organic components will be more difficult to obtain and more expensive due to rangers but being able to hunt as well. All the specialty armors like RIS are completely worthless and are no more then something to use for display.

Basically he and the rest of us are trying ot make the system better for YOU especially since we cant wear ANY armor at all.

Our concern isnt or has ever been about armor being "uber" or anything like that. The problems AS are involved in with this CU is the dumbing down of the profession. Whereas in the current system, a lot of thought, calculations and organization went into the production of armor, what the CU has left us with is a simplified, 1 line of experimenting. this 1 line doesnt even have much effect on the results of the armor. That tied in with a huge resource increase, Armorsmiths felt that they were getting the rough end of the stick.

The reason for the non-stop whinging posts and complaints come from the dev's ignoring our correspondant, and our opinions since day one of the CU going on Test Centre. MANY good ideas, and opinions were voiced here, and our correspondant collated the best of them and forwarded them to the devs, but got NO responses from them to relay to us. They have obviously got a game-plan for the CU that alienates a huge proportion of this community, and they don't seem to want to (or have their hands tied) take any ideas on board.

The rear-end projections will hit the fan when this goes live and those who arent testing, or use the forums (a HUGE amount of players) suddenly find the game is no longer what they originally thought it was going to be. Fair enough, having a disclaimer on the box stating "The content of this game may change" is ok, but when everyone is really thinking "The content of this game may change into a totally different game", it's time to make the posts you are now reading.

figures, i come here, try to be civil, try to say "hey intelligent guys worthy of your respect, please separate yourselves from the idiots making you look bad" and i get flamed by half the posts...i wasn't being a jerk at all, maybe this is why SOE didn't give you the time of day if this is how you respond when someone tries to be understanding, i'd ignore you too.

By the way, i'm quite sure they fired him for no reason...yes yes...everyone in jail is innocent too.

He broke his contract, he got players to spam the devs, surely if any of you can call down for a sec you can see that's exactly what happened, he messed up. Its frustrating to not get answers, but you guys aren't the only ones being left in the darka bit during the CU, so settle down and quit acting like spoiled brats

Thanks, a real post. Much appreciated.

Now a serious question again...

I don't know if something changed since last publish...but i noticed a HUGE help when i put on some armor...so i dunno where that is coming from...I don't know how to "read the numbers" yet like i don't know what "5900" energy means...but i know i take a lot less damage while wearing it...no its nothing NEAR the 90% cap but they stated a LONG time ago the best armor would be closer to something like 50%...and that's about what i noticed...so did something change in the last patch or 2 or what?

Yes, you are the type of person I want making decisions for me, i'm very happy knowing the devs ignore you...now do me a favor before posting again...log onto test center and actually i dunno..equip armor and fight something..then fight that same thing without armor....tell me it does nothing again..i'm very sorry that you thought 90% base comp was how it was always gonna be....

If you aren't seriously just trying to feed the fire then the answer you sought in your first question was quite obviously up in the stickies at the top of the page like any other forum. The specific one you are looking for is "Summary of Armorsmith Issues in the CU". It was written by the recently (today) deposed Correspondent. It succintly summarizes the most pressing issues and has received little to no official feedback for the issues therein. TodaysCombat UpgradedPlasma Flame Throwing extravaganza came about due to the correspondents removal and overall omen that Armorsmith issues will continued to be ignored for some time to come.

A list of some of the issues AS had with CU... and tried to get heard.

-----------------------------------------------------------
# Experimentation more or less removed from the game (ie no diversity in armor anymore)
# Massively increased resource requirements (lets say 200% price increase as a result)
# They ditched named resources AS has been saving for the last 2 years
# And replaced them with around 20 new named resources
# Hard core crafters cant leave the doorstep without risking instant-death by krettles (we cant wear armor anymore)
# Armor certifications...
# Faction armor hideously expensive (you think RIS was expensive?)

Ok here's where you'll start flaming me, but let's see....
#1: What do you mean? I haven't played crafter on TC and this is the first I've heard of experimenting being gone...do you mean its more difficult? the resources are less "flexible", or is it actually removed?

One line of experimentation. Thats all we basically have - its useless now to be a 12 point smith.

#2: Maybe its payback for armor being so overpriced in the first place? But come on, I'd really like to see the better armor types a little more rare, your average joe schmoe in SW doesn't run around is badass armor...

This statement just makes you look foolish. Do you see what people charge for resources that are uber???? We have no choice but to respond. You have no understanding of economics. Period.

#3: about the resources....they did this in the past to other profs...they lived....but i feel for ya, i do, but come on...its not THAT bad

Maybe I missed something, what profession had ALL their creations shift stat importance? Thats right, it didn't happen. Ok. Next...

#4: So you might actually have to have help from combat classes? since missions were brought back down to normal pay range...combat classes don't have any "creative" means of making cash...escorting crafters might be a fun new thing in the game....btw, kreetles don't aggro...things like Thugs and Pirates do....kinda realistic though don't you think if they attack a solo crafter with loads of goodies on him to rob him?

And how often would YOU go out with someone to just "place a couple harveys?" Do you see it happening? I don't. It forces us to take a combat class. However, I don't feel this is such a bad thing. If you're not a combatant, then you are in danger, and that makes sense to me. But your reasoning is flawed.

#5 Armor certs....that will take 2 hours for any gamer to reach...no one could afford armor before this point anyway so what's that gonna change?

Its not that there ARE certs, its the CERTS themselves, and we have to do more /telling to explain to people how it works for THEIR class. Talk about tell hell...way to make it easy for us SOE.

#6 I'm totally uninformed on this one...so no comment

Faction points needed to wear and to buy schems for. So, someone who we sell this armor to, will need to have the faction points to wear it. Do you know how hard it is to work up to a full outfit of ST or Rebel armor? THATS why you don't see people running around in it, the devs could have made it more Star Warsy by just allowing people to have this armor, and wear it around. Mighta felt like Star Wars for a second or two actually...

So, before you jump on the boards to attempt to tell us we are being children, try and be more informed before you challenge. That is all.

All i can see is "cry cry cry" could some intelligent AS actually tell me what the problem is? I tried to browse but all i can find is whining. If any of you care this is what it looks like to an outsider:
"Our armor isn't godlike anymore, omg we're worthless"
"Omg all our corr did was get us to spam the devs, what's bad about that?"
So please, I truly want to be concerned about you guys, but the posts i'm reading just make you guys look like Jedis crying about nerfs. So i'm not trying to be a troll, i came here out of concern when i heard "the AS are in a riot" and then I can't even find one post saying anything intelligent about what has happened...please...help me not think of you guys as crybabies, cause i really don't want to.
