Hmm I thought mitigation was not relative to a weapon being equipped just an innate defense with anything equipped.

Fury, you sure about your answer? I know that if I shoot at a friend that has both ranged and damage mitigation 3 with a T21, I hit him for damage with mitigation even if he has sword equipped. This has been tested in the past and I also agree with soulblighter and the other posters that ranged and damage mitigation work regardless of weapon equipped because it is a passive defense.

I believe if you got it, you got it...mitigation is a passivedefensive skill affected by the weapon beingused on you... not by the weapon you are using.

Of course, I may be wrong

The reason they call it the 'American Dream' is beacuse you have to be asleep to believe it.

If you need to test this further, go out and start skilling Swordsman up as a Master Fencer, you will find that your melee mitigation only kicks in when you have learned it on the swordsman tree.

Thus it is restricted by which weapon.

Or better example... watch yourself get pummeled while skilling up Carbine as a Master Fencer.

Yeah, mitigation only works when you have a certain type of weapon out. A pistoleer will have ranged mitigation only while he has his pistol out. A fencer will have melee mitigation only while he has his sword out. The devs told me so at Fan Fest.

I've heard conflicting reports about mitigation. I'm wondering if it works in PvE.

I recall the devs put it in the for the express purpose of effecting PvP, and not PvE - has this changed?
Is mitigation always activitated regardless of the weapon you are using? In other words, does melee mitigation work with a rifle.

I thought that it only effected PvP, and it was always active regardless of the weapon you are using.

Thanks.

I'm almost positive it works in PvE, because I took less damage after I unlocked the Mitiagtion Boxes.

It works in PvE and PvP. It also only works with the weapons your have it for. Melee is for Melee weapons and Raanged for ranged. So a rifle would use melee mitigation. I am not sure if it class specif. Like if your a master swordsman if it would apply if you novice TKA. That I dont know. I do know also if you a two melee master or ranged that it doesnt double it. once you have it melee or ranged mastering another profession wont double you mitigation.

Ok, then am I imagining it when the devs said that mitigation was for PvP only?

Why don't you wear non-advanced armor while you are grinding until you get full mitigations?

OK, so 2&2 on the arms, head, chest and legs. That's 7 pieces that give mitigation hinderance and according to my char, I would have a 90% accuracy hinderance at BH 0003 and similar to that at any combo of BH or Commando. So is Armor mitigation stacking the way I did my calcs?

I am doing the math and it would be better to just suck it up, take my damage and not wear armor untill I am a Master. With that kind of miss ratio, the battle would take so much longer any bonus from armor would get overwhelmed by the amount of hits you would take due to combat duration.
