First if the answers are listed in some FAQ please just post a link. I can't seem to find anything on this at all.
I am a TKM, I am wondering if I pull out a pistol or rifle is the lvl 3 melee mitigation still in effect?
The above isn't very useful but mainly wondering if it is useful to lvl up in a ranged profession just to get mitigation 1 or 2 for a fairly low number of skill points. This would mainly be useful against groups of NPCs when you are attacking 1 the others are still firing blasters at you, some added defence there would be very helpful.

Yes it is. Mitigation is in effect no matter what weapon you have. There's a faq on the pistoleer boards somewhere where they ask the devs that question but I don't have the link for it.

Sorry if this has previously been asked. I have not been PvP'ing very long.
I am master pistoleer, master fencer and therefore have ranged and melee mitigation 3. If I am holding one of my blades, does theranged mitigation still work, and vice-versa?
Thanks in advance,

As far as we've always been told mitigation ranged or melee isnt affected by what weapon you are holding so even with a stun baton in your hand your ranged mitigation still applies, probably going to test it out in the next day or so to make 100% sure the devs arent talking out their rears.

I am not sure if this belongs on this board, but with the examples i have it might fit here.
If i had a jawa rifle that was 170-220 damage and another that was 120-340 damage....
Which weapon would do most damage on a target with ranged mitigation 3, and why?

w00t!
From my personal experience i haven't noticed this being the case, but it should be relatively easy to test.

I was just wondering becauseI have noticed thatI rarely miss a target who is KD'd, and once the fall I can often land all three states from FAS2 in a couple of hits. It would make sense that all defenses would drop significantly when knocked down (although mitigation might have slipped through because it is an ability rather than a skill mod).

Does anybody know if Damage Mitigation takes effect if the target is KD'd?
If not, then this would be very useful information as it would allow us to use our600+ damage LaserCarbines instead of the mediocre Elite Carbine as a damage dealer.
Also, has it been confirmed that Ranged Mitigation works even if you are carrying a melee weapon and vice versa?
Yes, i have read the FAQ and did not find the answer (excellent job by the way).

Has this been tested? When i verified all my mitigation it was against a standing and healthy target. If so we should add this to the FAQ

KD'd opponents take 50% extra damage, so it may seem mitigation is being ignored, but it probably isnt

Hi I am currently a Master Pistoleer with BH Pistol IV and due to the current skill modifications to the BH tree Ihave decidedto pick up fencer. Currently I am working Quenkers on dant with my gaffi and am at 3-0-1-0.......... I think thats its........Well anyways I have 3 on the tree with melee/ranged def and 1 on the tree with dodge. Im Planning on going 4 with the def tree and 3 with the dodge. If I pick up melee damage mitigation I will it still work when I have my gun out?
Thanks
