Thread: The thing people have been waiting for: What armors are certified for which professions.

Your best defensive equipment isn't your armor...it's your vehicle. The only time you have to get off the vehicle is to place harvestors. You don't have to get off to survey, to check harvs or to redeed them. Even if crafters got some kind of low-level non-cert armor, it would likely be worthless crap anyways. Not having armor isn't the end of the world for pure crafters (I'm a pure crafter too).

No biggie, I never wear armor anyways and rarely get off my speeder and that's because I got knocked off.

Keep in mind these aren't certifications! Anyone who wants to can equip the armor, the professions just get mitigations on the debuffs applied by the armor so you don't lose as much movement speed, accuracy, and attack speed, thus making that armor the better choice for the stated professions.
No, that is precisely what they are - I believe the devs have already said that you will not be able to equip armor unless you have the appropriate certification.
Sorry but NOWHERE does it say Certification for any of the armors! All it says is Mitigation movement speed 60% and such, meaning there ARE armors that are better suited to different professions, but anyone can still use them! (They will just move slow, attack slow, and not be able to hit anything)

From the armor crafting document:
Armor certifications will control what types of armor players can wear by profession.
- Beginning players are not intended to have armor when they start playing (they will not receive any armor certifications) and are able to successfully fight against enemies that they can conquer without any armor.
- As a player progresses they will gain certifications for armor in their chosen profession.
It should be a given that those are certifications for professions, based on the CU documentation. Your resistance to that despite the facts staring you in the face and kicking you in the balls is ludacrious at best.

Where is this information coming from? I have a lot of customers who are going to be *&SSED that they cannot wear their ADK'd RIS suits anymore -- not to mention me.
Should I dump my RIS resources? Holy crap. So much for waiting until after CU to craft a bunch of RIS.
I got this information based off the CU armor documantation on certification, and combining it with what armors were listed under what professions when I went into the skill page, and looked at all the professions. It seems armor will have more mitigation properties as you advance, but it is no leap of logic to see that based on the CU armor docs, this is CURRENTLY (I cannot stress that enough) where the certs will most likely be.
That doesn't mean they won't change in the future. Just meansthat for right now, this is the layout. As changes are made, I will make changes to my original post.

I'm not personally worried about the diversity in armor types as an AS. I am however worried about resources like everyone else. But I'll at least wait and see what seems to show up as an answer in CU before I go into panic mode.
However I'm not exactly happy that BE's will be the only crafter class that can wear armor. I mean it seems silly to me that as an AS I wouldnt beable to even wear armor that I could make from scratch. And its hard enough making a harvester run on Yavin, Endor, Dathomir etc. After CU by the sounds of it. It'll be impossible without armor evne with a buff. I've a hard enough time right now with critters blowing up my bikes now too, and doing tons of damage to me even wearing composite.
As for the shift away from comp to other types though. I'm all for it. Personally I'm not too taken in by the look of comp. If only because it was a bloody clone army it created. I only make it since it's the only thing that really sells. Beyond crappy padded armor for looks.
I have to admit, I did find it curious that Docs and BE's could wear armor.
As an armorsmith, all I care about is whether being an armorsmith will continue to be fun and challenging. I don't care about what armor I can personally wear, or whether all my resources are now useless.
