it sounds like his cores were already capped, so that 2% increase in the elemental is causing the discrepency. As that approaches to within 400 points of the cap, the bonus to the stats on the cores will decrease. So if he was capped on the cores, then added 2% general protection to them, you would expect that the final build would have the energy layered protection, but since the cores are closer to the cap, they recieve less of a bonus - probably by around 2% in one of the factors.

So basically he's saying (dumbed down for people like me ):

-If your core comes within 400 points without any layers, do not add more protection, because it will hit the cieling and you will actually be losing protection.

s'at righ?

The same increase is added to all resists, though. If the core base gets an additional 100 points, it will be added to energy and kin as well, leading to no net change in the level of energy resists on the final armor piece.

For example, if you have 7700 energy 3500 kin 5600 base before buffing, 400 is added to the core, to get the final stats.

If you then have a buff increase of 100, your core will now looklike 7800 energy 3600 kin 5700 base, and 300 is added to final combine, giving the same resists as before on the final armor piece. (A smart smith will exploit this to increase condition on stat capped armor)

The only way energy will change is if the layers are different, so I am guessing either a different resource slipped intot his batch or maybe experimentation went awry with the poster not noticing.

had a similar issue, so what I did was keep using the same energy layers 93's, but my segments i made with a lower "elemental" protection (like 927 base) so upon crafting cores I was somewhere around 6750e and 5620'ish elemental. I kept the good energy layers and used a lower quality something in the segments and good stuff in the cores. then on final combine i got a 380 bonus, or somewhere around that dont remember exact numbers, bringing my final stats to 7150 energy and 6000 base for battle armor. which turned out better than using the best of everything and gettin a 7042 energy resist.

anyway, get the best layers you can and play around from there.

oh, this was all done whileinspired from a musician AS buff and stats are approximate from batle armor. uninspired I am about 2% lower on stats.

OK, lemme see if I can throw in a bone...

I can say with 90%+ confidence thatthecores used in this particular combine hadone singleamazing success whenexperimenting the bar all the way up. When this happens, it seems like you are thrown off a few points from your max compared to say 2 great successes.

The below is a copy of a bug I reported week or so ago.

While crafting Battle Cores, when I had an amazing success on my first experimentation, I filled the bar up all the way, but the cores were coming out 5595. I couldn't experiment any further because the bar was full.

However, when I had the normal great success, andwas able todo a second experimentation to fill the last box, my cores came out 5620.

Itried like 10 timesuntil I got3 "one-experiment-to-fill-up-the-whole-bar" amazing successes and all 3 times the cores came out 5695. The other 7 times, the cores came out 5620.

All crafted in a research center with entertainer buffs using the same exact resources and experimented to the same percentage.
