I agree entirely with the person who said to avoid grinding jedi and a crafting alt at the same time.

With BH being the new 'loot profession' I would suggest going something like MBH, Smuggler 4440, Artisan 0034.
The reason I say that is because the Artisan gives you a vendor and the ability to find resource spawns and the smuggler allows you to buy and sell faction as well as slice items, where the BH ties everything together by becoming the loot farmer. And with the lots between a jedi and his alt dropping harvy's should be fairly easy.

Otherwise, yes, most AS's make some money. But the time-to-money ratio as well as the conditions on acquiring the appropreate resources is very harsh.

To one of my guildies who wanted cash I also mentioned going Merchant 0004, Artisan 0044, Ranger 0040 and the rest rifle so he could be a Resource Gatherer (more in greed for another person to supply my with resources for my AS shop).

Loot was, is, and always shall be the best way to make a quick buck in this game. If I wanted to be rich, I'd have just spent my time being a loot **Mod Bot - Be Nice** instead of running a shop.

Armor is pretty lucrative, but it's nowhere nearthe loot business.

Your dedication to crafting has always been admirable. However if you'd like to scale back a little that is just fine with me. I'm trying to get into this whole gig as I make my trip around each crafting profession.

In regards to money, I have not made any yet as I'm finally making suits this week (all protection capped, unlayered for now, 46k or higher condition pieces). However I built myself a nifty little AS price calculator (I'm an actual programmer by day). All I can say is that the profit margins for AS are sickening. Extremely sickening. Even if you buy all the resources and don't mine yourself, or harvest the hides yourself. Seriously I don't understand yet why unlayered suits are selling for so much but I'll just go with the flow I guess.

I'm a newbie Armorsmith and always wondered if I could reduce my time committment by creating only Advanced Cores/Layer sub-components for sale to other Armorsmiths around my galaxy. To all the very experienced AS on this board would this work?

Would you be willing to buy sub-components if they were the highest quality?

Yea, im sure you could get some good sales that way as the cores take so long to do. I know I wouldnt mind having this done for me sometimes.

If they were better cores than mine, definitely.

If they've good statsand are at a decent price, I'd also take them.. cuz yeah - like the poster above said, it saves me so much time

Im one of the lucky smiths on my server. Ive been around since 10/03 doing armor and have collected tons of the best resources for our server. This has equated to making and maintaining decent supplies. Being an armorsmith definitely requires alot of time. I am constantly restocking the vendors, not to mention the multiple orders I get daily.

If you can keep your vendors adequately stocked, then you will definitely make insane amts of credits. When the CU started I was down to maybe 75 mil credits, but since the CU's inception, ive bought over 300 mil worth of hides and resources and im still well over the 500 mil mark. So if you are willing to dedicate yourself to keeping vendors stocked and customers happy, then you will be flowing in credits in no time.

The only downside, is ive not really seen the outside of my shop since the CU actually hit.

Try To programm the Investment in to it , and value loss of a new shifts comes in...

Unlayerd suits are overpriced.... 63cpu and higher.....
Layerd suits are overpriced to 57cpu from me .... but well I increased it to slow down the sales maiby I lower it some day in the future, when I totaly dont have to use the resourse kits any more. and that comes very close

also take in mind that Pre CU cpu rates where also around 60cpu on composite ..... so provites are the same and with the new Experiment what removed the crafters skills and lowerd the time spend in to it..... it shoud be a lot lower.

but well I still sell ad a good lvl

well, to get best layer stuff most of time it is from resource kit, and costs of those on my server are 125-175cpu, so you have to charge a lot to make a lot, and 57cpu won't cut it

Completely agreed - I use resource crates for plexite (for energy layers) and a single 3.75 mill crate will allow me to make20 suits if I remember correctly.. that's an overhead ofnearly 200k per suit forjust one layer resource. And I am beginning to run low on the other server-best resources for energy layers, so..

And, as someone else said about investment. You will need to have preferably 500-1000k of each of some 30+ named resources in your storage.. That is neither cheap nor easy to do. Nor is it good in terms of resource storage. I needed to sacrifice skillpoints to go master merchant just to have a functional storage vendor.

Last point from my perspective (brought up already) is that I cannot keep stocked if I price any lower. I charge 400k for unlayered capped suits, and I barely have enough time keep my vendors stocked. And, I prefer to be stocked and expensive, rather than having cheap but empty vendors.
