Thread: Merchant Nerf and Armorsmiths

With management 4 and Master Armorsmith, you can still master an elite brawler or ranged weapons profession as well and have points left over (which you can put towards some medic or artisan etc). Which is ok with me, but bareable. I like to hunt every now and again and its annoying when you cant because you have no skills. Mostly hybrid professions that are out of the question with this coming system.
As for it being nessary, I dont like it, but I can live with it. Really, you hire someone to hold your things and give them to people who buy them, I could pay someone to that who has no experience at all. Vendors dont sell items, the items sell themselves. If the vendor was a Salesman, sure I could understand the need for management.
ps - if management 4 isnt enough to keep my vendors, then sorry, they're not worth it. I'll stick with the big clunky artisan one. Like I said, if the armor is good, no-one cares about asthetics in the vendor.

Theonly problem i see is that if you are a master crafter in any profession whether it be chef, armor, weapons, tailor, dorids or structures you should have the ability to place A vendor.
I admit that i trained novice merchant and dropped a descent looking vendor and dropped merchant all the way out. By dropping all the way out i mean i even dropped the business line in artisan. Don't flame me for this because I pay my monthly fees to have FUN. Fun is the key word here. I happen to know that on the kettemoor server there are two people that do nothing but stand in front of the starport barking "I am selling this and I am selling that." I am sorry, this may be enjoyable to some but how is it? Making tons of money is great and this rings true to real life too but if you are not willing to get out and enjoy having it, then there is no point in having it.
I believe that a master crafter should be able to maintain there own vendor on there own without paying for a merchant's service. I really only have my vendor for people to drop off lotts because i mainly do special orders for friends, but that doesn't mean i want to lose my vendor.
These are just my opinions though.
so just because you find it not "fun" its okay to exploit that part of the system..okay with that reasoning..I don't find it fun to go find different Segment Enhancers so Im gonna go use some of the No Serial ones...or how bout I go PvP and use some of the exploits in that aspect of the game because otherwise it simply isn't fun?
Do you read what you write? I find it funny that people thing just because they don't find some aspect fun they see that as reason to Exploit..And as for the RL comparisons..this is a game...I don't need to get Pistoleer in RL to be able to Pistol Whip someone..honestly its easier to do that then try and shoot the pistol if i've never used one before.
its a game..there are rules and you guys think you should be rewarded for breaking them...I hope they delete the vendors if you don't have merchant..sucks should have played by the rules..i have no sympathy for ya
The 1 Star button is below...use it at will

It would be cool to get a vender when you master an advanced crafting profession, but that would remove half the reason to take merchant, and the DEV's probably don't want to give people more reason to drop it.
Again, if you don't have the skill boxes you shouldn't have the skills period. Its different in this case only because the DEV's let this bug go for so long that an imediate fix would make a lot of people unhappy. Its not the way it was ment to be.
It is not going to stay as it is, the DEV's have stated this, they are just trying to figure out how to give people fair warning before their venders go poof.

No, this argument is stupid, and I'm tired of hearing it.
I trained as a merchant to hire the vendors, taught them accordingly and left it at that. I can no longer change their ad barking, their names, register them, create new ones, etc.
Having to waste SP on merchant is just stupid. This change better not go into effect.

Ok, devs say the economy is bad, maybe they should put more focus on the merchant profession. I mean, having to list 100 items individually when you want them all set at the same price... it's more like work than anything else.
And how difficult would it be to take empty vendors off the map? Merchant stands to benefit as much as or more than any other proffession out there. If the profession is so fun, why does everyone drop it?
There have been many proposals put forward for a more streamlined vendor interface, and the devs have said they have plans on upgrading it eventually.
According to TH, the empty vendors will no longer be listed on the map...I forget the date he gave but it was sometime in the next publish or two.
