I will give you a simple answer. You do not take the profits from a successful venture and use them to fund a losing operation. you will only fund as long as the model shows that there will be a conciderable movement past the break even point. if not, you providing a service and not running a business. SOE's stock holders will not stand for thier using profits from division to uphold and maintain a losing venture.
the root cause of all this is simple. They have Jump to Lightspeed coming out in a few months and thier Database cna not handle it. they need to reduce the load on the database to handle the expected incoming accounts from the release of JTLS.
What does this mean? It means that the basic structure of the game has a limit they did not think about and that now they can not easily and cheaply correct the problem. They are going to have to find new ways to make the increase in DB load available by taking from the existing accounts.
The signs are very clear. either JTLS is a success or SWG will cap at its current level with a few increases and decreases according to market fluctuation. Octobe release means they are counting on the Xmas holiday sales to generate the necessary numbers. If that fails, forget the rest. They will cut the cost load, (developers), and go to a cost maintenance format that spells the end for all games eventually.
Point?? Money talks, and in this instance, talks big.
But don't post in this forum you are going to quit or cancel. Instead, send an email expressing your reasoning along with your request for cancellation, directly to SOE Corporate Headquarters.

I cancelled my accounts at the beginning of the month, and decisions like this and the combat balance delay keep reassuring me that I made the right decision. The dev team obviously doesn't have the planning and decision making skills to take this game in the right direction. Even if this doesn't make it to live, the idea was still there, and obviously not thought out.

If i remember correctly, there is FAR more outcry on this issue then the crafting change. I doubt this will make it live.

Totally agree. With 99% of the ENTIRE population (not just crafters and merchants) slamming this change, I highly doubt it'll go through. Just like that 1 day crafting change.

no one knows what is going live
remember the crafting changes that lasted 1 day after the outcry? Is there an outcry now?
I think those vendor limits will be adjusted. Why cancel for a change that may not even be implemented. I am betting that they listen to us, and adjust those numbers, and it won't be so bad. If all the AS do leave, then good, more business for those of us that are still having fun.

Oh sorry for showing my disappointment in the game. I've always tried to make posts in here that would benefit the AS community and the game.
But I will stop now so your inflated ego can have some more room to expand.
