I don't wear bracers or biceps and nothing ever gets through. I do wear pants and boots however, I can't get away with only wearing pants or only wearing boots, my legs get hit fairly often without armor if I do.

However a buddy of mine can go the full mini suit (helm, chest, gloves, boots) and he doesn't ever get armorless hits.

I would not call this a cheat suit. There are disadvantages of only using 4 parts and that is higher decay on them and less parts to put AA in. If you need to put any AA in another part than Ubese shirt etc. It might be better to wear full arm armor to spread out the decay.

I can currently use Just Helm, Chest, Gloves and Boots and not get hit anywhere that doesnt get mitigated by my armor.. however every so often one or more pieces of the armor completely stop working, as if I am not wearing them at all.

Usually if this happens I have to unequip all the armor then re-equip it to get it to work again(assuming I survived upon discovering the problem heh)
