My top 5:

1) Factional Armor - The art is in the game, we just need the schematics. No-brainer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2) Armorsmith Belt - Why no dev has commented on this is beyond me. Why did AS and BE get left out of this?

3) Armor Powerups - There is a whole damn section on it in the bazaar with nothing in it. Could require no art. Another no-brainer.

4) PSG's - Any and all PSG suggestions. I think we need a PSG mini-publish!

5) Armor Color - More options (like true black or true white on composite), fully colored composite legs...

Now... about this issue:

Ragnoraq wrote:

1- Jedi robes- this will put me out of business, a huge % of my customers are jedi- let armorsmiths be involved with the jedi armoring

(when people open a second slot, the tend to have 1 crafter, 1 combat (jedi) if their combat/PvP armor, it'd put me out of work)

I have heard others talk about this. I am of the opinion though that this HAS to change. I mean honestly its just plain dumb for Jedi to wear armor at all. Darth Vader is the only force user in any of the movies who you could say wore any kind of armor. I'm not unsympathetic to the loss of customers, but this is just something that can't stay the way it is. I've said many times that "this isn't Star Wars its SWG", but this is one continuity issue that I think should be fixed.

Alright here is my top five...

1. Armor Experimentation-- It doesnt make alot of sense as I see no difference in % between "great" and "amazing" sucesses

2. More types of armor that compare to composite--- Mandalorian & RIS are great ideas as far as "uber & rare" (god i hate using those words) go. but I personally would like to see more common types of armor such as more racial armor, possibly trandoshen, and zabrak. And of course I would love to see a full array of Faction armor... it would even be pretty cool to have for dark jedi, darktrooper armor...

3. Armor not stacking with synthsteak-- this is definatly something that needs adressing if its true...

4. Show PSG's humming around a player when active

5. Fix the Skill Tapes where so that skill tapes will stack, and that the highest value will not be the only value to show up....

#1 - Let us make factional armour.

#2 - Give us factional armour. Not in four months, not ' sometime after the GCW patch' - redo the skins on composite if you have to, but end the madness and give us factional armour.

#3 - We need to be able to make factional armour if this game is ever to resemble Star Wars.

#4 - Factional armour - let it be made by AS.

#5 - We would really like to make factional armour.

Oh, and if these issues are not looked at:

#6 - Stop slicing. Armour is too good as is - slices just make us so uber it is ridiculous. Slicing also means that we are not armoursmiths, any more than a master artisan is an armoursmith - we don't make armour at all. Smugglers make armour. We make subcomponents. Weaponsmiths are the same - smugglers make weapons, they make subcomponents. There is no logical reason for slicing - we all know that armour is too good, we all know that slicing it to make it better and better is unnecessary. Slicing means that we have to stock vast amounts of stuff because people will buy 10 suits to get one good sliced one. Slicing means that there is no point to maximising our stats except bragging rights - the slice will cover up any weakness if it slices right. Multiply our resource requirements by two or three if you are worried about uber crafters stocking vast amounts of resources for years, but stop this slicing rubbish.

1) Armorsmith Belt: but please please please make sure to specify a belt, or an apron, or something! make sure they don't give us a bandoleer.

2) psg's: I wish they'd fix these buggers once and for all

3) visual effect for psg's: I wish there was some sort of visual effect when psg's are equiped. (think the slow shields (or whatever they're called) from the origional dune movie )

1) Armor Repair. There are Skill enhancing tapes out there that have armor repair on them. I currently own +25 armor repair on my 2nd toon who is the master armorsmith. Make this work. I made a very nice set of composite using various armor enhancers (ie.. krayt segments/scales , NS layers etc) but i refuse to use it as i will kill the armor in a weeks time and with repair the way it is, not worth it.

2) Armor Powerup's would be a great thing to impliment.

3) Experimental Variances.. comes to mind.

Thats about it.. mainly repair.

Now that pretty much everything on the old top-five list has been addressed/fixed, it's time to come up with a new set of priorities. To that end, please state your list of five things you like to see fixed/improved. I will read through all of them and select five to be our new Top 5.

Some comments before you post:

1. Please do not include the GDK scale drop as one of your top five. This is already being addressed inthis week's "19 Questions" (just as soon as TH gets back from E3). The answer provided by the Devs will resolve this issue one way or the other.

2. Recognize that the Combat Rebalance will significantly impact armor, but at this point we do not know how. As a result, suggestions like "make RIS better" will probably be of limited use at the present time.

3. Try to keep your suggestions as focused as possible. The more focused the ideas are, the easier it will be to implement them.

Some current bugs/suggestions:

Armorsmith Belt- Most professions got a +experimentation/assembly belt due to the theme park loot upgrades. Armorsmiths would like one as well (one that is wearable by wookies).

Experimentation irregularities- There are a variety of irregularities in the experimentation process. For instance, the way composite is experimented seems to be different from how other armors are experimented. Along the same lines, experimenting encumbrance costs on segments seems to be acting strangely.

Mabari special protection irregularities- Mabari has two special protections (heat and blast), but only heat can be raised on the chest and only blast can be raised on the legs. Moreover, the segments contain only a heat special resist.

Composite pants missing a colorable area- The thigh portion of the composite pants cannot be changed from gray, even when a different color is chosen for the armor.

Glove/bracer irregularities- some glove/bracer combinations are impermissible, even though the graphics for those items appear as 'hand only.' In particular, chitin gloves, while appearing small, cannot be worn with bracers.

AP weapons ignoring PSG's entirely- There are reports that AP weapons ignore the effects of PSG's entirely.

PSG's still not working 100% of the time- There are still occasional reports that PSG's are not working all the time.

Armor not stacking with synthsteak- It is unclear exactly what is going on here.

Some looted segments not working properly- The latest reports deal with Fambaa segments not being usable in padded armor.

Looted armor segments are generally useless- Most looted segments contain base statistics that are lower than those crafted by a novice armorsmith with only one experimentation point. As a result, they are essentially useless. The looted segment table should be reviewed and particular segments should be modified.

Dual condition shields- These would be Personal Shield Generators with two conditions: a maximum condition and a temporary condition. The temporary condition would slowly recharge over time and would deplete at the same rate that PSG's currently degenerate. The permanent condition would degenerate at a much slower (1/10th or less) rate.

Experimentation range for encumbrance is too small- the trade off for experimenting encumbrance versus resistances is weighed heavily in favor of experimenting resistances, because the benefits from experimenting encumbrances are much smaller than for experimenting resistances. The benefits for experimenting encumbrance on all armor types should be increased.

Increase Giant Dune Kimo scale drop rate- The drop rate for GDK scales is vastly lower than that for the other RIS components. It seems to be in the neighborhood of 1/20 or lower. Given that the GDK is by far the hardest of the four creatures to kill, it seems counterintuitive that it should also have the lowest drop rate.

Armor powerups- Some kind of modification, similar to the one in place for weapons, would add a bit more variation to armor.

More questable armor schematics- RIS was a great idea, even if the quest items were a bit on the unobtainable side. The PSG quest is a bit too easy, although the fact that it is a limited schematic makes up for this. Armorsmiths would really welcome a questable armor schematic that did not require looted components to make, or only required a one time acquisition of a looted component.

Real shields- Either energy or physical shields would make a good addition to the game.

Pet/mount armor

Visual effect for PSG's- When shield generators are active in the movies there is a very clear visual effect. This would add a strong immersion element to the game.

Sound effects associated with armor- Heavy breathing or altered impact noises are two possibilities

Grant more experimentation points to low level smiths when crafting low level armors- Currently, it is difficult for low level smiths to compete with master armorsmiths at all because they suffer a double penalty- not only can they not make the high level armors, but the low level armors that they can make are inferior to those made by a master smith. Even a smith with Techniques IV has only 7 experimentation points- three fewer than a master armorsmith and five fewer than most established masters. One possibility would be to simply give armorsmiths with Tech IV +80 to experimentation rather than +75, thus giving them 8 experimentation points. Another alternative would be to grant them a higher number of experimentation points for use on low level armors but decreasing the higher the armor is.

Tantel color bug:When you choose color 1 (as master), the first 3-4 rows of colors will change the color of both the colar and the belt, the next few rows will only change the colars color! This was tested on a chestplate (with a heavy +base energy layer). For more info see: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=armorsmith&message.id=47863

i'd like so see something like a gas mask be implemented in armor. at least something to protect against combat medics. since they don't have the 75% pvp reduction they are a force to be reckoned with. at least this way we can have some kinda resist to the poisons and diseases

[top_five]

[1] Armorsmith Belt/Apron - It would be nice to have a +5 Assembly, +3 Experimentation, +5 Repair belt just like WS/DE/Arch.

[2] Craftable Items to be used in sockets - Be it for clothing or armor, actually crafting items that give +1 to Melee Defense or something would make having sockets more worthwhile. Right now a tape is either worthless or expensive, so having some sort of craftable standby would be nice. It would take really specific resources, and it would add something to our shops.

[3] Different types of armor -I'd like some more armor at the lower levels especially, and then work on making more armor higher up. Variety is the spice of life!

[4] Armor that provides other functions than just damage resists - The DE revamp comes to mind.

[5] Impact noises/graphics - This would look/feel nice!

Jatto poses some interesting ideas, and I'm seeing a lot of things I hadn't even thought of here. I am new to master Armorsmith but I see a few modifications that would make things more interesting and to be honest, adding more armor types all the time isn't one of them. I know, it doesn't sound like an armorsmith really talking here but hear me out.

1) the slicing idea. I would be in favor of removing slicing for armor altogether. Slicing a weapon makes sense to me much like reprogramming your car's computer can squeak out extra performance ( and is illegal, because lets face it, when the speed limit is 65, nobody really needs an SUV that goes 125 miles an hour... but many of them are CAPABLE of it if their limiters vere removed! ) Slicing armor makes no sense to me... what are you going to do, shave a bit of padding off the liner? It'll chafe! I didn't use all that precious wooly hide just to have it all cut out of that piece anyway. Come to think of it, the belt idea would fit nicely here because if they removed slicing armor the belt would make up for the points nicely. ( Besides... what slicer likes slicing armor? The ones I know drool over weapons where they can show off )

2) Shields. I love this idea. this makes sense in more ways than are countable... and if SOE will forgive me a "Real Starwars Universe" moment... Stun baton and Riot Shield... pretty much a standard set. They work well with pistols too if you ask any police officer. I'm not much for the Shield Bash but hey, some people like to. Besides... after what they did with the SG-82 they could at least follow the universe SOMEWHAT. ( For anyone who doesn't know... SG-82 = Sonic Gun model# 82. Yes, it's a sonic weapon, not a cold weapon... which is why you generally wear padded armor with it... because padding absorbs sound waves better than steel does. Anyway, I'll refrain from my where's the SG pistol rant and get on with business )

3) Disease resists. Yea, I like the gas mask idea but lets face it... Composite armor makes you look like a walking tank, you mean to tell me that isn't NBC ( Nuclear, Biological, Chemical ) shielded? Anyone is composite armor should be able to stroll into Chernobyl and grab some souveniers without fear of radiation poisoning in my opinion. Just an opinion, after seeing droves and droves of people suffer to a single doctor's area poison. I'm starting to see why peopl ecomplain about Snipers/Master Doctors now that I've seen how not-fun poison can be. That and I'd like it for everyday use. Nothing ruins an evening for me like taking an unlucky hit from ANY insect in the game and ending up diseased. I play in the middle of the night and Doctors are a rarity, that ruins the whole night right there.

4) Further Stabilize PSG's. Granted... the PSG isn't as popular an item as I thought it would be, even after the stat migration fix. We appreciated that one, believe me... but there is still room for improovement. I love the particle effect idea, that's just class right there. Starwars is a very flashy game, and shield generator effects would not only be visually appealing, they would show a) the target is wearing a shield generator, and b) ... it's working! The whole, server forgot I was wearing the PSG thing does need addressed in my opinion because when you rely on it to stop a T21 1 shot kill you kind of can't afford to discover it wasn't working on that one hit... you don't GET a second chance to take it off and re-equip it... you're dead!Personally I haven't experienced the AP bypassing PSG's thing yet but I generally don't PVP when I can avoid it, though it would concern me if I did. I'm on the fence about the dual condition shield bit. While it would raise the value of shield generators it almost seems like it would unnecessarilly complicate things. Granted, shields are a staple of starship combat, but for personal use they are bulky, expensive, tempermental, and generally elite only form of protection. I don't recall seeing them actually used in any Starwars movie on anything smaller than a Fambaa. I like the IDEA and all, but I think the miniaturization of the field generator to personal levels wouldn't go so well. then again... a recharging shield... ( drooooool )

5) Extend armor layers into more or all armor types. Lets face it... what do people want? Stun protection, and where do they want it? On their Composite. See how we all said that together? That makes the other layers just... well, not in demand. One guy asked me about electrical resist for fighting Jedi once but composite has that in spades anyway so there was another idea shot. To be honest, apart from the stun layer, the others are useless. Not because they don't work, but because you can only use them in the most elite armors and nobody buys them. right now it's a wasted tree since we get Stun at master. There's a reason people take that tree last.

A few reasons I didn't cite certain things you may ask? Well... I know they've been doing the revamps but lets face it... Armorsmiths have gotten a LOT of lovin compared to other professions. We got a whole new suit of armor ( Wookie ) with promises of more on the way there, well done. They added Composite ( before I even started the game ) well done indeed. I have heard RUMOR of power armor a-la the thing the Zabrak was wearing in the art book and believe me, that would be beautiful to have because from an aesthetic standpoint I hate composite, it looks like Ewok butt in my opinion. THey fixed the stat morphing for PSG's and Tantel ( yes, I know, a long timne in coming but they DID do it ). And Tantel SHOULDn't have an advanced segment or more parts. Lando didn't have more parts when he wore it on Jabba's skiff, and it is an ANCIENT form of armor, why should there be an advanced form? ( If anything, I would just remove the factory crate requirement from it... if it's ancient it also stands to reason it should be craftable without advanced manufacturing techniques... besides, it looks like someone shredded the Scarecrow and strapped him on! Helmet's cool though, people like that, keep the helmet ) Jedi robes shouldn't be armor... the Tailors need SOMETHING to keep them busy afterall. I mean, armor breaks all the time, but when's the last time you replaced your wardrobe? I agree somewhat about the master versus Novice argument, though it's like that with any profession so what are you going to do, you know? Nature of the beast. And contrary to popular belief I actually have found buyers for armor other than Ubese and Composite. Who and what you ask? Well, dedicated Combat Medics hate the encumberance of armor but also dislike death. They seem to like lightweight mabari everything except Ubese Jacket. It fits nice, covers everything, no bracers, and is so light it isn't funny. My Teras Kasi customers like this too... or at least the ones who generally don't wear armor at all and are just looking for a little something.I'm moderately for the other things I just ran out of numbers to deliniate them, heh. Let the flame begin!

  1. armorsmith repair modifiers (using a 99% repair kit and having the item crumble is so wrong)

  2. armorsmith crafted customization kits (give our customers something to change the colors themselves. have the color change be semi-permanent tho, meaning that it doesn't fade or degrade or change until they choose to use the tool again)

  3. armor attachments customizable (say an AA has 3 mods and the person doesn't want the 18 to rifle crawl speed, but the 10 to dodge, we should be able to fix this somehow)

  4. larger color palette for ubese armor

  5. make the cheaper armors (mabari/chitin etc) more versatile. rather than have a 50% heat on mabari, why not be able to make that 50% energy?

My top3 priorities would be:

Armour repair - Get it to be more effective and trustworthy

Crafting- Show the hidden decimals to make it easier to plan production

Dual condition shields / self repairing shields - They should operate where their condition reduces to zero, and then slowly recharge - Dont know how to cover decay of them, something like they lose 1% condition on every full reduction to zero or something similar - the PSGs are designed to be 'energy fields' which should slowly recharge - they arent 'physical' armour which can be broken after enough damage - though the unit itself can be eventually destroyed though.
