That's what I'm saying. You want to look pretty, go see a tailor. I make armor to make sure your a$$ isn't toast when a Krayt dragon tries to eat you. Not so you can look hawt doing that little dance in the cantina.
MY JOB IS NOT TO MAKE YOU LOOK GOOD!
What drives me nuts is the people who complain "The RIS palette is too limiting" "Can you match and blend these two colors?" Blah blah blah.
I'm an armorsmith. Not a fashion consultant.Message Edited by CaileSathinor on 04-06-2005 09:51 AM
It's not whether you win or lose; it's how you dress that counts!
I'll miss the dancers in their padded boots. I always thought that was the best use of a 12 percent rancor seg. I think I'd like to see all the skins be equippable, assuming there are separate skins for each piece. Tie certs to the cores and not the skins.

I kid you not, I sat for an hour with a customer who was agonizing over blending of colors on an RIS skirt.
It drove me NUTS. Not to mention people who were like, "Can't you use your good resources and make me fashion armor?" "Sure. But you pay regular price like my combat customers do." "What? (insert stream of profanity) Stop ripping me off!"
Ahh, those days will soon be gone.

Now the tailors can deal with it all

THIS IS TRUE FOR ALL PROFESSIONS
There's this idea running around the forums that there's a true "certification" for armor. I'm not sure there is. I've looked at the skillsheets on TC-5 and you know what? There's no explicit certification for any armor. There's just a reduction in the penalties for wearing a certain type of armor as you get more skilled in the elite combat profession. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that's what they're referring to when they say "certified" to wear certain armor. It's not like a Novice Bounty Hunter gets a certification entitled: "Assault Armor Certification" Rather, at BH 2xxx, x3xx, xx4x, and MBH, they ameliorate the penalties of wearing the armor.
I could be wrong, but this is what it's smelling like right now...

One of the devs stated that the first set of armor mitigations granted at novice elite also granted the ability to equip the armor.

Pretty much boils down to whether you have more than one account. If you have only one account, find something more flexible to play than an armorsmith.

lol, I was thinking about that today. I still have to have my AS go out and change the admin rights on my harvestors so I can even check them with my alt....

I believe it is based upon KOTOR type hindrances. For instance in KOTOR in order to wear the Sand People outfit your characters must have +8 Dexterity. If they do not have +8 Dexterity then they cannot equip it. Sosay the novice Elite profs would give you 20% it would allow you to wear something up to the max of that hindrance/penalty

Wow, boy are you confused.
No, those weren't hinderances in KOTOR, those were Bonuses.
Every time I slapped on one of them Jedi Robes that had a dex bonus, it would add to my total. That's how they counteracted the fact that you had less armor protection - by giving you more of an ability to dodge hits.
Lol, you need to pay attention.

LOL I just had a commision for a suit of each armor to be used as display. and last couple orders had been "fashion wear(padded armor)" I'm getting paid for it, that's all that matters.
my tantel and ubese is doing well. and there is always my Wookie line.

Each to their own
As a master armorsmith, master tailor I pay attention to both protection and looks as do many of my customers
P.S. I have no problem not being able to wear stuff that I make, of course I have the luxury of 2 accounts so I have some sympathy for those with only one.

But I don't understand why doctors have armor certifications, yet other crafters do not

Doctors are no longer crafters. BE's craft meds now.
