OUCH! Any suggestions on how to get that kind of credits?

Well... become a loot wh0re is one option. Find rich friends who would want to adopt you is another. My conversation with someone who asks me about becoming an AS usually goes something like this... Me:"Be prepared to spend ungodly amounts of credits on your start up costs; RESOURCES, factories, harvestors, shop, storage houses and CAs (you can wait on exp and assembly CAs for a while maybe a long while since you don't need 12 pts to cap)" Them:"I don't have much money... I want to become an AS to make money." There lies the problem... sure you can start out with little to no money and become a successful AS ...but,it will take you months to aquire all the resources to make a commercial viable product.

Since you aren't going into this with a large bankroll you need to work your way up to the final step when you actually grind AS... KEEP YOUR COMBAT PROFESSIONS that will be your way to make the money to get yourself started. Pick up as much surveying as you can while keeping a viable combat template. With the future of BH looking kind of dim with pub 20 just around the corner and you are probably wanting to completely dump BH which is understandable if you do that is fine but keep your scouting skills... hides are our hardest resource to aquire. Keep an eye out for quality hides and when they come into shift harvest them until your fingers bleed from clicking your harvest macro hotkey. Keep an eye on SWGcraft too... know what resources you need to get and the quality you need when something good comes into shift through every harvestor you can at it, bug your friends to use their lots until they threaten to /addignore you. Make yourself a list of your resources you need and dig through the vendor search on the global bazaar until your vision is blurry and you have your optomitrist on speed dial. Watch your trade forum for resource auctions, you might be able to pick up some great resources for next to nothing, you will have a good idea what your new loot whoring spoils will fetch. I hope I haven't scared you off...if I did ...consider yourself lucky, that you realized what a huge undertaking this is and ran for the hills with your sanity intact. All in all AS is a GREAT profession. The reality of it is the resources makes or breaks all your hard work and effort. If you are still reading this... good for you!!! Now go get yourself some hunting partners and camp krayts until you have enough cash and resources to get yourself started, in that time they might fix pearl drops so you don't have to count completely on tissues.

I respec'd my combat toon to AS, my alt was an AS a long time ago and lucky for me I kept all my resources and in my stash was a lot of best ever resources which cut down my ramp up time drasticly. The fact that I had a fair bankroll to get me started help a lot. Just remember this is only a game and if going through with this endevor will ruin your enjoyment of this game find something else to do. You can do it, you just need to find your bearings and remember your end goal.

I haven't had a particularly hard time starting up as an AS on Bloodfin. My character was old - started her back in November 03 - and just came back recently. I had a self-power kit and a resource crate when I came back, so I sold those for three million credits and used that to grind AS and buy enough resources to make some recon armor with decent stats (around 6200/4200/5200). That money ran out a while ago, and I've been able to stay afloat just on armor sales since. Pretty much every credit I make goes into new resources, and I'm about to start making battle armor too.

Tips:

Browse the Bazaar obsessively. I've found some amazing deals - 20cpu hide for 4cpu, 100k steel for 20k.

Get Advertising 3, and make sure to list your vendors on the global search. When people start coming in, watch what they buy. At my shop, I can barely keep Ubese in stock, Tantel sells alright, and Mabari won't move. Manufacture accordingly.

Start with just one kind of armor. The available Naboo Bristley and Corellian Fiberplast on my server sucks, so Battle armor wasn't the way to go. Everything for Recon was pretty readily available through mining or purchase, so I went that route.

Start a shop near people. Theed, Mos Eisley, Dantooine are usually good choices.
