Aye. As I've said in other posts. When I was still a 10 point smith I hit 66 base easily with 80 kin. And even managed to pull off 68 with only 10 points. Sure I didnt have 80 Kinetic/Energy/Electricity. But my HAM was about the same. And the resists not much lower. Slice it and you wont even know the difference. Hell get a really good slice. And it'll even be better because you'll hit that 90 base cap instead of 80 cap with specials.
There's an attraction to both types of armor. For those that dont want as much risk. Go for the 12pt suit with the tripple or quad 80's. THen even if you get an encumberance or plain old crappy slice. Wont matter.
For those that like to gamble abit more. Go for that 10pt or 11pt suit.
And its not like its hard to join a guild (Many often cry out for their own AS or two) and just go to them and say hey look. You guys give me any AS tapes you loot. And I'll give you armor for free. Afterall if your selling it on the side. It's easy to pay back for the resources and take the long term chunk out of yoru resources to be making such as such a guildie free armor for life or some such thing.
God knows my guild has been wonderfully supportive. Any AS tapes they get they give to me. Any time there's a really good resource spawn I just put out a guild mail and post to our form. Hey look there's this really kilelr spawn. Here's a few waypoints could you please drop harvesters for me. And they will. At their cost to boot. And in return any armor they need they get. Now and then they still pay me for the armor jsut because I still have to buy tons of natural resources and the like. But as a whole the guild tends to share the costs with it's crafters and we all wind up benifiting.
Not all guilds are like that of course but still. There are some that are. And even without their help I'd still have eventually made 12pt. It would have just taken me alot longer to do so. My armor quality wouldnt have increased quite so quickly. But due to alot of good spawns lately it still would have gotten better with time. It was hardly an unrealistic goal. And its one thing I find alot of combat proffs lack in CU... an end goal that isnt met in a few weeks.
If you do nothing but grind out yoru template. Your done there unless you start swappign all the time. So what else is there left to do in SWG? Be a loot whore, and chat with friends. Not too much else. Sure there's a few RP guilds out there and the like. But their few and far between. And SWG doesnt make for the best RP setting with people spamming like mad etc.

totaly.
Me and my guild have good relationship. they said they wanted to get some crafters in the guild, I almost went WS, I asked around, they said they already had 3 WS, but no AS. so I went AS. along the way I was supported with any harvest I needed to grind/ craft up.
Once I hit Master I was thier little investment. they needed armor, they just had to ask. I needed resources, I had no hunting skills (and lets not go into Combat, it's embarrasing), so alot of them took up Scout Novice to some extent. they do there combating, picking up stuff along the way, or Isend them on Mass hunts for hides and bones. Personaly I don't know how an AS can survive without some friends or Even a guild.

well unless every single Crafter in game states that this is going to kill AS proffession , the Dervs will do nothing.

I for one am a 12 pt smith(AS) just cause thats the best you can get in game . I have crafted every armour in game you can craft as a Master As.(some well-- some uber and most crappy due to limits on certain types of armour)I always try to be the best of what ever prof i go . 12 pts were only really needed to get that bit lighter armour . Seeing as another good thing such as encumbrance is getting the boot there is no need for the 12 pt smith other than bragging rights. Which is what this game seems to be about to the majority as simple case of "My dad is bigger than your Dad" .

However, if this does come to light ,I will join the bully boys with my other toon and just kill everything i see ;collect loot and sell it for stupid amount of credits.

How boring just killing things, might as well get doom 3 and just play a platform game and then i want have to pay $14.99 a month to shoot things.

Experimenting on the three lines was great and i really enjoyed it .

Gave me a sense of achivement when i made my first set of 80kin/80elec/80blast/80energy/70 base with low ham.

but then i made a set of 80%electric 10% stun / 70% base , got it sliced so i now have 5 suits of 80%electric 10% stun and 90% base (kin/blast/energy/heat/cold/acid/) and they are all mine lol. Oh and i have a crate of imp psg,s sliced to 55% stun resist 55% LS resist --shame the LS has now gone ( hate it when that happens, server re-set).

So what am isaying?

Well The dervs are going to kill AS and any enjoyment I / Us have in crafting.

Why strive to be the best in what you do, when a monkey with a key board, is going to craft the same armour as you.

Aset of armour is now going to cost millions of credits even for basic armour due to extra hide.Oh and the whole change in resourse's.

I for one try to charge as little as i can for any peice of armour.

I mean i was dropping 50%kin Ubese on vendors for 2k a piece cause i was grinding up force crafting.mastery ( which i might aswel stop, cause whats the point in grinding something thats not going to be of use any more . i mean less) oh not to mention that these FS trees Crafting takes 10x as long as any combat tree i mean we cant throw armour segments at Baz nitch and get extracrafting exp.

Well winging over after all its just a game right ???????

Still say 12 pts should make a difference-- never spent as much money as some ppl ,just waited a long time for the loot to drop.

Now if the Giant Dune Kimos would just drop. I could become a multi millionire Master.

I mean come on 140+kills and two scales.

Totally agree Bisek!

Resources is the key, not 10 or 12pt. For the most part it would only affect encumbrance, which most of the customers didnt care about anyway. Granted, for high end Stun Comp or Triple/Quad Comp, you would need 12pt for the best result. But noone has ever said that a 10pt should be able to do everything...

Find your market niche, sell at a price that people will buy and make a profit like everyone else.

Problem is I care about it.... TBH I do not make armor that I think will just sell, I make it to be the best, 12 points, best resources, using only amazings etc are all part....

My 80% kin armor may be exactly the same base as the smith across the road, but my HAM would be 150 points lower = me happy.

In the main it's not about money, there are other professions better at that (resource miner is probably the best long run, I know some who make 3 or 4 million credits profit a week, week in week out) it's about playing the game to the max... That's what keeps me.

I hear ya Biseks, I am a 10 pt smith and I make great, fast selling armor. And I agree with some other replies in that the resources are the key, exp. points just lower enc. and add condition, which can almost be made up for with crafting successes, and definetily with slicing, and the triple 80 stuff isnt much of a problem either

It takes creativity. As a 10 point smith, I was able to make 80kin/80elec/80ene/70base armor. It was heavier than all hell, but I was creative with the wears and hows I used my resources...It didn't even take all my best resources except on the chest plate. That's why I bemoan the nerf. Any one that says they can't has simply never tried, and I don't think this was thought up by some ten point smith. I think SOE took it upon themselves to nerf it probably because they felt the price of the tapes was too high. Guess what, now armor is loot driven and it's the only way to differentiate your armor...do you think the combat classes are going to give it away...Yeah that worked so well when the village stage 2 showed up *thinking of the million credits I spent just to complete the quest*

I'm a 12 point smith, I make 80% Blast with 73% Bases (KINETIC & ENERGY) that can be sliced up to 90%. 90% Kinetic helps against all creatures and 90% Energy is awesome for Geo Cave Droideka's and Super Battle Droids... My pieces are also nearly 37K in condition and as low in ham as I can get them. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes tocrafting. I also don't sell sets anymore, got sick of putting peices into backpacks. I sell only individual pieces so my customers can buy only what they need. I have actually had an INCREASE in vendor sales by doing this.

I like being a 12 point smith with 3 lines of experimentation. It will totally suck if they change armor to one-line experimentation. It'll be like crafting swoop bikes... boring.
