To help you determine the best resources without having to break your head on the math Id like to point to my signature :-)

Sorry for the plug but I cant resist as I think it could really help alot of people

What I've been doing with my resources is going through 1 schematic at a time and and trying out each resource to see what gives the highest green bar and them putting that into a backpack. Yes it's time consuming, but then again I need to know what I have that's good and what I have that's crap.

some resources even though they can be as low as 200 and high as 1000 seam to have a huge increase in just a tiny range.. ive seen things go up nearly double by just adding 20 overall points.. addingas much as3 points on a layer, or 40 points in a seg. by barely being better. even consitering the range of the gates. i think those gauges on the side are guestiments not acual fact and it seams shock can weight more on somethings and less on others.. (thats taking gates into effect as well)

After i get some sutis made in the up coming weeks im going to play with the extreems of using low QO and high shock and vice versa to see how things change.

I dunno guys...most things less advanced primus and energy layers I am able to achieve 91% "experimental resistance." Its the d4m vintrium ore...I'm convinced.

Oh by the way just worry about SR...of course u want hi OQ but SR is more influential. For instance, if I use hideA 891oq/892sr and Hide B 960oq/sr725...Hide A will always gimme better results. There's more to than just worry about SR, I think its a balancing act...I've had luck with it.

Would it be reasonable to request that resources display their gated stats?

For example: Shock Resistance (922-1000): 967

This does make sense , hides are ungated so the range goes from 1-1000 for both quality and sr.

hide A 891+892 = 1783 , /2 = 891

hide B 960+725 = 1685, /2 = 842

so hideA should be a little better if my understanding of how the new crafting scheme works. (edited previous silly error )

Regarding the vintrium ore you mentioned earlier. The SR gate on vintrium is 922-1000. So a small change in SR makes a big difference in the results. If the SR on your vintrium is anywhere close to 922 it will be rubbish for adv cores. I actually have some vintrium ore with qual 992 and sr 932 and the maximum experimentation is ~50% I think due to the relatively low sr compared to gate.

The new system can really make those previous excellent resources with high gates very poor.

I have 1 million units of what was the best carbonite steel pre CU. quality 963, sr 896. This has gone from a 93% resource to a ~52% resource when used inthenamed carbonite steel slot. Conversely, my 350k units of a worse carb steel with 724 Q, 956 sr has become server best now. CArb steel sr gate is 885-965.

The new system also boosts some of those new rare ores we now have to use since they have small sr ranges and if you have some that has an sr close to max cap with decent quality it can become a 85+% resource easily.

The most amusing obsversation I have made over the last few weeks as the CU has rolled out and we have become aware of the different rules is when I remember back to a comment Blitxev made when we had that big discussion about the orginally intended change of resists depending on Qual and UT rather than Qual and SR on the armorsmith forum.

Blitxev's justification was that UT might be better due to the new resource requirements. The reason he stated this was because the new layer resources, siliclastic and carbonate ores, are some of the only resources that have a higher UT gate than SR. However, since the new crafting system effectively negates the gating system his arguement is completely irelevant and so it suggests to me that

a. the "right hand does not know what the left hand is doing" as far as crafting changes is concerned with the devs.

b. Blitxev's stated reason was not the true reason for the UT change.

c. Who knows

Cheers

hide A 891+892 = 1783 , /2 = 891

hide B 960+725 = 1685, /2 = 842

so hide b should be a little better if my understanding of how the new crafting scheme works.

If hide isn't gated, why would Hide B be better? 842 < 891

Am I missing something?

From my understanding Hide A would be better, but not because the SR is higher. Because the the average is higher.

Vintrium Extrusive Ore: CR 896 - 1000, DR 909 - 1000, HR 922 - 1000, MA 522 - 600, SR 922 - 1000, UT 922 - 1000

928 SR is pretty low. I really hate this gated weighting system. From looking at that ore it should be good stuff!!!!

Lol, yes you are completely right, was a brain fart on my part I meant to say the one with the higher average which is obviously hide A,mixed the two hides up in my head when I added it up before I posted and then just spouted a rubbish calculation onto the page. Never mind, was at the end of a long day at work when I posted

i would humbly like to say.

this system is absolutely insane. w']['f ..? gates. hum where in game can people see these? oh i see you have to peruse a huge list found on a geek site somwhere on the net before you have the vaguest clue as to which resource is better. and ultimately the armor experimentation system is laughable. 4 points left over after final experimentation. hum surely that cant be intended.

"i got a great idea"

"shoot"

"lets make armor crafting only need 8 points, and lets also hide some statistics from these crafters"

"thats insane, lets do it"

"woohoo! do i get a payrise?"
