To elaborate on the points above, consider this:

Layering a suit of armor with quad energy/kinetic layers uses a total of 7392 resources (10692 for primus layers) for a potential max resist improvement of 1200 points. If we assume that you use mediocre resources @5 cpu getting you 84% layers for a total of 1000 protection, that is an expense of close to 40k excluding factory maintenance/power.

Also not considered in this calculation is the fact that you will have to useadditional lots for factories that could have been put to use gathering resources and the additional time-to-market for running those layers (3½ days or so for 1000 layers).

The segmentsfor a suit of armor totals 1155 resources and represents a potential 2700 base protection, meaning that if you improve your segment qualityby 37% you will improve your base armor protection by the same amount that quad layering improvesone resist.

Granted, 37% is a rather large improvement. Still, the point is that if you spend those 40k buying 1155 units of resources, you can buy top of the line resources and improve your average protection by the same amount that you can improve one line by layering, even disregarding that layers subtract from another resist.

I support the NGE - NOT!
