/sigh
With the massive changes that the CURB will bring to the table for everyone and just about every profession, the fairest and simplest thing to do would be to allow a total skillpoint reallocation to everyone who has spent 230+ skillpoints, mastered a profession, and had three months active time.
Would there be some inequities? Yeah, the fact that someone could go from a total non-combat toon to Master BH in one fell swoop would sort of cheapen the investigation grind, but there's no real reason to oppose it other than for pettiness' sake. Total reallocation for everyone is the best solution.

As much as I wish it were possible to respec SP from artisan to combat it is not logical. As it is in live right now I cango from a blank character to using every skill point in a matter ofless than aweekend JUST on the artisan tree. If I can do that and respec it to combat what would stop people from doing that with all their alts to master any professions they wish? Would you also find it to be "fair" to them when they spent the time IN combat masterting those professions? Even though I have serious issues with crafters not being able to wear armor and think this game is going to hell it is in all honesty not fair to respec artisan SP to combat.

I haven't kept track of all of this, but aren't they allowing doctors to respec?

Good point, and yes they are since Doc is not a combat related profession.

Doctors, medics and CMs get to respec. As for time spent grinding? Ermmm.. I've ground out some professions (Like TK) far faster than some crafting professions (Like master armorsmith). Not to mention the TK grind was waaaaaaaayyyy cheaper. I needed in the end 2 VKs at 20k a pop (very low speed, decent damage), and one suit of composite. Whcih as my AS toon wasnt finished yet. At the time cost me about 300k. My AS grind on the other hand cost me easily 500K+ in materials at 2-3 CPU.If not more than that. I'm affraid to really work it all out.

so, let me ask this question. Why are they allowing respec of any profession? Surely there is some logic to it.

Like I said earlier, they are allowing respecs because all the combat profs (except CH which was already "rebalanced" almost 2 years ago) now have to have one more branch of novice skill as a prequisite to their elite profession. example: my swordsman tree now requires I fill all for tiers of one handed as well as two handed on the brawler table.

Interestingly enough though if you -dont- respec. You can retain your current template. Complete with new required skills and all. But you'll be in the negatives as far as skill points go.

ok..but I thought the prereqs for Doc were becoming less. I don't know, but somone told me that. Seems counter to what you describe which makes sense to me.

Yes, and if you do not respec it to fit the new requiremnts before the end of the respec period your points will be rearranged for you.
Also, if you have free skill points they will be automatically used to fill your new prerequisites

Two thumbs up to the original poster. The devs have made huge, unfathomable changes to game, and they shouldn't punish the crafters forSOE's vision of the game.
If the devs don't want people to craft anymore (which the nerf says in plain and simple terms), at least they could allow for a decent conversion.
