Just one thing. The R.I.S. layer is not as bad as people make it. I do 3.16% R.I.S layer with -6/-6/-6 enc. This is the only way apart from Nightsister shards and red Geonosian Powercubes to reduce health and mind encumbrance. very useful to create 0/0/0 R.I.S. boots

umm are you referring to the interwoven RIS schem on this?

after reading this I went in and tried adding a red geo cube to the RIS layer and no dice

Does the segment have a slot for enhancers? By the way the Janta hides and NS shards are enhancers not layers. It's the NS layers that you can use in place of RIS layers, I don't think you can use Janta hides or NS shards in the layer slot.

Great post!

Yes, both the RIS and interwoven RIS segmenthave a slot for a segment enhancer.

Woah, I'm getting a little confused here (like I said originally, I'm no Armorsmith)...

Are Segment Enhancers replacements for Layers, or is there an additional slot for a Segment Enhancer in Segments?

For example, which of these are correct:

1) A regular RIS Segment can take two Layers, or one Layer andone Segment Enhancer, or two Segment Enhancers.

2) A regular RIS Segment can take two Layers plus a Segment Enhancer.

Also, how are looted armor components classified?

I know that things like Krayt Dragon Segments and Rancor Hide Segmentsare considered as Armor Segments and can replace regular segments in particular armors.

However, how are things like Nightsister Armor Layers, Nightsister Shards, and Krayt Dragon Scales described? Are they all considered Segment Enhancers, or are some simply considered as Armor Layers?

Thanks again in advance,

Every crafted segment has 1 to 3 layer slots, and an additional slot for a segment enhancer. Nightsister layers are layers and go in the layer slots, while Nightsister shards are segment enhancers and go in the enhancement slot. Janta hides are segment enhancers as well. A regular RIS segment has 2 layer slots and one enhancement slot. The interwoven RIS segment has 3 layer slots and one segment enhancers. The way the loots are classified is usually by their icon. Loot items that replace segments look like segments (square with several groves cut in it), layer loots look like layers (square without groves), and segment enhancers usually look like hide containers. They don't all follow this unfortuatly, the Nightsister shards, the segment enhancers, don't look like hide boxes, they look more like small segments.

Wow, thanks a lot owako and DirthNader, again

Now my only question is, given your choiceofall the lootable resources, what would you put into an Interwoven RIS Segment to make it the "best"? And if possible, what stats would you be looking for on those pieces? I'm not too interested in lowering encumbrance, unless RIS has very high encumbrance, such that a full suit can't be equipped when buffed in all secondaries.

For example, would you use a Stun layer (sp+?%), an Acid layer (sp+?%), a NS layer (eff+10%), a Yellow Cube (eff+7%), and aJanta Hide (eff+7%)? (BTW, what wouldthe stats on thatpiece look like when finished?)

I amvery determined to own a "good"set of RIS, and I'll do whatever it takes...

Thanks again,

Oops, forgot I had another question about Segment Enhancers...

So, given whatwas said above by owako, does that mean that NS Armor Layers are the only lootable layer replacement?

Brackaset Plates, Fambaa Hides, Gorax Shards, Janta Hides, Kimogila Scales, Krayt Dragon Scales, Nightsister Shards, Rancor Hides, Sharnaff Plates, and Voritor Lizard Scales...

All of these are considered Segment Enhancers?

First i never said that you can use a Powercube in the R.I.S. layer, in fact you dont have any optional slotsin the R.I.S. layer.

I just listed all 3 components that reduce health encumberance and one of them is the R.I.S.layer (NS layers just reduce action).

On Chimaera that would be a waste of base effectiveness. R.I.S without layers or extrashas 61% base if you put 8 points into experimetal quality on the segment and final combine.

The Stun and Acid layers can be 13% with 3% base.In Interwoven youuse3 layers that add a total of 9% base, plus your 7% Powercube you are alreadylooking at 77% base effectiveness. Now a3% Janta hide is enough for the 80% cap.I would use a nice NS shard to reduce HAM because77% base should beenough afterwards if you get an eff slice to hit 90%.

My current plan is this: Interwoven schmatic so better base, yellow cubes 4% base (cube requirement), janta hide with 5% base (segment enhancer), 7% NS layer, 6% NS layer, and hoping to get another high NS layer (need the differnt ones as am going to factory the interwoven so can make a full suit with one schmatic.

I only know of the NS layers that are loot layers. There are lots of loots, but most of them are useless.

Heh, a sticky would be cool

BTW, got a few final questions (I hope) about making the armor:

First off, from what I've read so far can I assume that a "base" piece of RISis 50% kinetic and 61% base effect (with no layers or enhancements)? As Arem said, with 8 points into Quality on both the segment and the final piece combine, and I'm guessing the rest into Resistance. I'm alsoguessing that'sas a12-point AS as well.

So, taking the above "base", how about these two assemblies:

Assembly 1

1Kinetic Layer: +16% kinetic, +3% base

1Kinetic Layer: +16% kinetic, +3% base

1 Nightsister Layer: +7% base

1 Yellow Geo Cube: +6% base

1 Nightsister Shard: -Encum (thinking of the combat balance here)

= +32% kinetic, +19% base

Final Piece: 80% kinetic, 80% base effect, Acid & Stun vulnerabilities

Assembly 2

1Kinetic Layer: +16% kinetic, +3% base

1 Acid Layer: +16% acid, +3% base

1 Stun Layer: +16% stun, +3% base

1 Yellow Geo Cube: +6% base

1 Nightsister Shard: -Encum (again, combat balance)

= +16% kinetic, +16% acid, +16% stun, +15% base

Final Piece: 66% kinetic, 16% acid, 16% stun, 76% base effect, no vulnerabilities

Note that if I'm missing something (which I probably am) andall that stuff would push theresists over the 80% cap,I would prolly use a Red Geo Cube instead of the Yellow to further reduce encumbrance.

So how does that look? I want to start planning ahead for the pieces (already have 5 bone frags and the Interwoven RIS seg schema, and I started last collecting last Thurs), and the looted enhancers will play a big role into how many "extra" components I need for the factory runs. For example, if I'm only able to get sets of 3, 1, 2, and 2 of the same serial geo cubes I would need 4 extrabone frags and gurk hides to "burn up" making factory schemas of the interwoven segs.

Once again, thanks!
