That is a different issue all together and not related to the focus of the thread, which is a strange recentbug. Please read above where Pyke clearified the issue. This is effecting several crafters of different types in my guild and we really didn't notice it untilrecently and are now tracking it. Sad to say thebug list is growing yet again.

Guys, I *really* need numbers in order to report this. Can you try and get me that please? I can't seem to duplicate it.

Hey caile I was getting this bug on your factories too.

It wasn't more than a few hundred resources (equilvent to like 1-3 guns here and there). But it did eat a finished product...a full crate of power handlers. Then after an hour of producing more weaponry, it reappeared in the hopper!

With my stuff it disspears then reappears, only a few hundred resources haven't come back...

!!!!!!!!! I was just browsing different crafting forums.....happened upon this...I'm a DE/SW ...and I thought I had just miscalculated the resources I needed for a run...

I SWEAR I never miscalculate, now I know it probably WASN'T me !!!!

Caile,

It happened to me while running Primus layers. I always load exactly the needed amount of resourcesfor 1000 layers, and when it stopped it was 131 layers short. The leftovers were:

Neutronium steel : 3250 units (enough for 130 layers) (25 u/layer)

Gravitonic Fiberplast : 1834 units (131 layers) (14 u/layer)

Peroviskitic Aluminium : 1572 units (131 layers) (12 u/layer)

Vintrium Extrusive Ore : 2096 units (131 layers) (16 u/layer)

Polymer: 5 units (14 u/layer)

The strange things is that Polymer is supposed to take 14 units per layer, and as long as I load an even 1000x n there is no way you will manage to get 5 units left. No obvious pattern, to me at least...

btw, did you read my PM a week or two back?

wow, caile stickied my desperation thread and i didn't even notice /doh! /whap self

sry, here's all the hard info i can give ya at the moment, i'm taking screenies of a test run now to try and catch it in the act and then i might have some exact numbers for ya.

ok, THIS IS WHAT'S HAPPENING: First of all, I seem to be the onlyarmorsmith in my townexperiencing this bug, as i had a guildie exactly reproducea couple of myfactory runs with no problems whatsoever, and none of our armorsmiths have noticed any problems with their own factory runs. Also, i've made runs of other items without having this problem, even other AS items. I think it only happened with battle armor subs, both segments and cores (but may have happened earlier with other items without being detected), and it happened in 3 different factories, both my ownand others'.

The factories i used had plenty of power and maintenance, and my math was perfect, triple checked each time (not that it's hard to multiply a number by 1000...) It was certainly NOT an issue of the input hopper running low on crafted subcomponents, as those seemed to be the only thing left unmolested in there (which is odd). I only lost raw resources, all of them evenly, about 33% ofeach resourcein the input hopper. As thula said, there doesn't seem to be any obvious mathematical pattern here, the leftover scraps were in multiples of 5 and somewhat proportional to the numbers in the schematic but the increments used don't match the schematic at all. I just realized that doesn't make any sense to any of you, so i'll just go ahead and shut up till i get my screenies.....

anyways, thnx for the focus thread Caile, REALLY appreciate it!

you do get a confirmation e-mail actually, but only if the factory belongs to you. if not, than find out who IS getting the mails... well, in the interest of not having to make 12,000 extra primus layers for a run of armor, i've been being extremely careful about what i do to my factories, no examining, no mid-production stopping, nobody else on admin or hopper entry, and it hasn't recurred yet. it seemed random before, so that isn't saying much, but my last 2 runs were without incident so i've nothing to report. it's obviously still happening somewhere tho, so if you're doing a run, take a screenshot of the input hopper and the materials needed windowbefore you start the factory.if anything seems out of order when it's done, take another screenie and compare. it's a lot easier than making a log book

I haven't been able to play much for the last few weeks, so I'm not sure what is being reported and if this is something new, but I'll mention a factory bug that has been around a while (pre-CU even).

Anyway, if you are short on a sub-component (like if you are making final armor pieces and are short on cores, fiberplast panels, synth cloth, etc.) then you will lose some of the regular resources even though an item was not created. The amount lost is exactly as if one item was created.

Sub-components don't ever seem to be lost this way... in other words if I'm short on synthetic cloth I won't lose a core. Only harvested/mined resources are lost.

this is how it happens.. we have done ALOT of testing on this in the Arch side.. also if you stop the factory mid run you will loose resources as well.. ( not exactly sure where the point of No return is during the production time of an item...

However say in example where resources are in the input hopper and you are short a subcomponant.. Factory stops you loose the resources.. but if you throw in the missing subcomponant and hit start after factory does its run through again it will finish the product.. ( well at least it will 50% of the time.. ) .. Our conclusion was that there is a third hopper in the equation.. at some point in the process it transfers all of the needed ingrediants for one item into this third hopper when the timer expires it then does the check for required resource then converts to finished product if all elements are there...

Just an FYI to all. ive had the disappearing resources issue appear on my factory quite a few times. I've noticed it most recently while making Adv Armor Primus Layers. I've also heard a WS friend of mine complain about factories eating resources so much so, that he ONLY puts the exact amount of resources into his factories, so he can see when they eat stuff. Generally i've thought this to be related to how often i 'examine' the factory to see how many components have been made, so nowadays i just ignore it until i think it should be ready. Wish they emailed us when complete.

CAILE, i have had the problem you are looking for. I have not touched the 4 factories in question since it occured.

I started 4 factories all at the same time, each factory had a brand new energy layer schematic good for 1000 items and the exact amount of resoruces needed to make all 1000 items.

When i came back a few days later all the resources were gone from the input hopper, the schematic was gone from the factory and i was left with approx 250 (can get exact number as i havnt touched those 4 factories since) layers in the output hopper.

Raised a CSR ticket asking for my lost resources back and was simple told that it was a bug.. end of story.

The factories were not owned by me, i was on admin.

Well I've had several factory runs now without incident, and I'm not particularly keen on wasting resources by tempting fate just to catch SOE in the act. But i tsounds like we all have a bug of a slightly different nature than the others. I would like to think it's not actually 8 or 9 different coding errors, just 1 that gets around... but you never know. If it is just 1 tho, than it manifests itself in many different ways, producing many different results. Of course, this means going thru every line of code that has anything to do with it, but hey, there are plenty of other online games to play and if SOE wants my money then they'll have to earn it. It's not our duty to fix bugs for the game developers, that's their job. It's quite clear that we have a serious problem here that affects quite a large number of customers so let's all get on their a5$$ with tickets and bug reports until it's fixed! VIVA LA RESISTANCE!!
