I agree with most of the original posting, with the exception of the changing Jedi sabre damage to restraint. That makes about as much sense as them being kinetic Maybe a higher AP on sabers and moving them to energy or electric would make more sense if they are hitting below par.

I also agree with what DirthNader said in the post before mine, armour is only part of the problem with low PvP damage. The biggest single problem with PvP balance is buffs, more specifically secondary stat buffing (including food/drink). If armour encumberance was checked against a characters base secondary stats then we wouldnt ever see this uber resist armour in the game, other than a few parts covering critical locations. It might also be worth changing the PvP damage reduction from 75% to 50%. If secondary stat buffs werent as high as they are we wouldnt have zero cost specials and regens so high that we can regen any damage we take almost instantly.

As for fixing the PvE side of things further, add AP to creature attacks and reduce the arbitary multiplies that are factored into every bit of damage a player does to a creature. Just make it so white cons are even fights, yellows are hard fights and reds are near impossible, like its meant to be. Im bored of being able to solo pikets with novice brawler or marksman

Are you actually advocating that the ultimate warrior society in the Star Wars universe cant kill certain npc's with ease but a rifleman could due to the creature having a high kinetic or energy resist?

No. The best suggestion I've seen to date is to move saber damage to energy (it is a blade of energy after all) and to then change the damage type of the various force attacks to something that makes sense (i.e. mind blast = stun, force lightening = electricity).

Look, if you go through the original poster's history it's obvious what profession is his top priority. All of the Jedi vs. BH and Jedi vs. everyone else BS is what drove me out of being a BH, and I've considered myself an armorsmith first and foremost for a good amount of time now. I don't appreciate someone coming to our forums and composing a "buff Jedi, nerf everyone else" thread under the thin veil of "revamping" our profession.

Yawn I have seen lightning cannons and Flamethrowers up to 1200 damage so nothing special about that saber considering with buffs a BH or Commando can spam specials with these weapons while the Jedi can not. Not to mention these 2 weapons arecomparable in the fact that they are ranged and AP doesnt matter in pvp its all bugged. Oh lets not mention that your friends saber took easily 50 million credits to make, while a comparable Lightning Cannon might take 4 million for the very top end.

Flamethrower. AP0 heat damage, with each special taking around 6 seconds to recharge. Oh! and also with less then lunge range.

Commando's are a non factor in pvp nowadays. Comparing em to jedi is laughable at best.

That proposal still doesnt fix a single thing, most of the npc's in the game with 100% resists to a certain damage type either resist kinetic or energy. Also shifting the AP value from 2 to 3 does jack squat considering 100% resist is 100% resist. As I mentioned before should the ultimate profession in the game that takes 30 times the effort to master not be able to kill certain npc's in the game while a profession like rifleman can easily switch to a different damage type and take down the npc easily?

SWG Dev's for PRESIDENT!!!!!
They have the two most fundamental skills of an American Politician
Steal from the middle class (Jedi) and give to the poor (veteran rewards starship).
Lying for political favor.

If that's what they're resistant too, then yes. There are things in the game riflemen can't touch- IIRC most high-level Nightsisters are 100% resistant to everything but blast and kinetic. The game is currently set up so that thereis no combat profession, regardless of the amount of mindless grinding required, that is effective against everything in the galaxy. I doubt you'd get any resistance (no pun intended) from the other combat classes if you proposed balancing damage types and dps among the professions, but you can't seem to see beyond Jedi when it comes to any balance issues (a quick trip through your post history proves that).

If you want to discuss yet another idea for making sabers that "IWIN" button you say that Jedi deserve in your older posts, there's and entire forum dedicated to it, and it's not this one. From here on out, I'm going to stick to discussing armorsmithing in the armorsmith forum. I'm sure you'll say it was me who "derailed" your thread, but you sure did latch onto the Jedi part of the discussion quickly. No guilt here, I can tell what your intentions were, and so can any other dedicated armorsmith with an ounce of common sense.
