Thread: PSG
I have some uber crystal gemstone and my MK2 PSG's are almost (within a few %) as good as my MK3. Sure the MK2 does take more damage per hit than the MK3 but its got almost twice theHAM. The MK2 is 23% across the board. the MK3 is 30% energy 25% base. Obviously a proper functioning MK3 would be better for PVP than an MK2. Alot of my wookie customers loooooove my HAM experimented MK1's.. yes belive it or not they insist on buying my MK1's experimented for durability. The HAm is roughly 3k on the MK1 compared to 800'ish on the MK3. Some Wookie brawlers in my guild report the MK1 lasts much much longer (many fights) and is apparently easier to repair and thus stays operational much longer than an MK3 which usually burns up after one fight. Most wookies like the MK1 for pve. Problem is the MK1 is usually around 10-15% resist compared to the MK2 which is about 20% compared to my MK3 which is 25'ish% in kinetic. With hams of 2900, 1800 and 800 respectively. Looking at that it seems like the MK1 would last longer even if it were taking a few points more of damage per hit than an MK3. My conclusion is the best on average shield is by far the MK2. I sell MK2's for 10K at the moment in the TAG bazaar in New Hope on Lok/Lowca. They sell very quickly. It seems my customers are not intimidated by the price. I started selling them at 5K each and the price had to be raised as people would just go to my vendor and buy them all. Now I put crates up to 20 on them and I swear the crates go before the individual shields go so there is definately a demand.
One thing people dont know about PSGs is that they take forever to make! they are a total pain in the rear end and you have to have a serious mass production mindset to continuously churn out a lot of MK3's. In fact it is easier for a Master Architect to churn out Harvesters than it is for a Master Armorsmith to make PSG's.. the PSG takes longer to make (factory time) almost twice as long as a harvester which requires tons more resources. When you add up all the components factory time is greatly increased (or youve got oneserious case of carpaltunnel) I currently run 7 wearables factories and I have 5 equipment factories, and it is still a pain to make PSG's So I have to say. They are worth the money we armorsmiths get for them due to the effort it takes and the factory time that is diverted from more lucrative activities like making composite armor. An MK3 has 8 sub components. 2 of which requires a master artisan to make, and 3 must be identical factory components.
If you are wearing an average suit of composite with 50% resist and you are hit for 100 points of damage you will take 25 points. If you have a MK2 PSG (20%) you will take 10 points of damage. That is 90% total resist!!! an MK3 and you might take 8 points (woot!)
Someone Tell me what a suit of 90% Composite costs!!
If you are enjoying a suit of armor that already has 80% base resists an MK2 PSG will lower a 100 point hit to 4 points!? Thats equal to the protection of a suit of comp that has 96% reissts!?!
The stacking power of the PSG is what makes it so great and the time that it takes to make it (which is extreme) coupled with the added protection makes them somewhat expensive. You dont need 90% damage protection all the time..but isnt it worth it when you need it?
Oh and have you figured out that your uber expensive suit of armor lasts longer if more than half the damage is diverted away from it by a PSG? ( a good reason for an uber long lasting MK1 !!) Since the condition of armor is reduced by the amount of damage that gets past it you could drastically increase the life of a very good suit of armor by using PSGs.
Now if we can only get the devs to fix PSGs! There seem to be bugs with them beyond the shifting issue with the PSG that I am hearing about (not tested them myself) but otherwise The PSG is a useful item. My vendor is out so I will be spending the night making a new batch. I could make much more money with composite or ubese armor believe me, but the PSGs do a little to help keep traffic in our Bazaar and my guild mates use them alot. I have to sell 50PSGs to equal one sale of my decent composite armor. both run about 500k. Composite is far easier to make and sell so thats why you probably dont see many Armorsmiths going through the hassle of making PSGs and having to teach/inform everyone about the bugs associated with them.
Elecktra <TAG> Master Armorsmith/Master Artisan
New Hope Tag Bazaar is located right next to the Shuttle Port..You cant miss it!!!
1 other thing psg doesnt show on the combatlog as armor does is this normal?
funny, the vendor who sells thes psg s has them in crates as well but the ls effictiveness is gone in crates.

Yeah jedi can wear them now, but unless I'm missing something, they're almost useless. A few shots in, and (mine) shows 0 resists.
Still, this can help you through those first few seconds of rooting.

Ya imp ones have some useful mods on them too.
Yeah i was wondering if that was just me...
I have something like +10 ranged accuracy and +10 melee accuracy on my PSG.
I can't see how a shield generator would help accuracy, but who am i to complain....
Ifriend gave me the imp one 9500 condition with +10 General Melee Accuracy and +10 Ranged.
I wondered if the accuracy mod was useful whats the difference beteween ls accuracy and general ?
