As a crafter on a couple servers but NOT an Armorsmith I must step in here because the failure of the Devs to "listen" to any of us is universal. I must also point out that the ONLY problem here is the communities failure to REALLY do anything about it. I read all these posts about the Devs failure to heed to the desires of us, the guys who pay their salaries, and act accordingly. How many of you guys who constantly post how the Devs never listen to us have actually cancelled your subscriptions? Almost 2 yrs into this and the problem from the beginning is the same problem as today. The devs refuse to listen to the community. If its been 2 yrs and no progress how many of you actually think its ever gonna get better?! If you want to make a statement then cancel your subscriptions. That is the only "post" they will listen to.I know this game is addictive and all but if things are that bad then quit. The devs will take notice of that if nothing else. I dont expect this post to be around long so take heed, and yes I have cancelled my subscription in case anyone asks.
Well, I can only speak for myself as to why I haven't cancelled..I still have hope. I used to be super postive about the devs and their changes but the CU has changed that.
True, cancelling my account will hurt them, but it will also hurt me. I truly enjoy Star Wars and all things Star Wars related. That being said, I plan on "aggressively" confronting these people at C3. I also plan to bring this up in the Q and A with George Lucas. I will continue fighting until this goes live.
To hit them in the pocketbook, I have cancelled my pre-order for Rotw. A small thing, but a a start.
It's like having a cell phone in an area only serviced by one company. I could cancel, but that would cut me off and bother me more than bother them. This is the rub, quoting from a movie " I have nowhere else to go!"
This is actually happening on Tempest. I read a post last night that is the Who's Who of founding fathers and server community leaders all cancelling accounts and taking a prove us wrong approach. It will be sad to see them all go. Most have several accounts. My friends are all defecting to other games. Of course threatening me after taking my post out of context does not encourage me to stay.

/agree, Tempest is the smallest or second smallest server, depending on day of week. This is my fear...

Another problem with mass quitting is this-they will just merge servers. That will be the end of SWG if they ever did that.

lol i can't believe you actually sat there and read through this thread. Any way I think people are miss-directing or venting their anger at Tiggs what i think would have been better is that a dedicated thread which only devs responsible for each profession could post on in the profession forums . So someone like Blix or Even Tiggs could pop on look at the top 5 issues for Armorsmith profession or any profession and just take 5 mins and say "yup i've seen what you have to say and its noted". I think thats where the root problem is pushing aside the issues regarding okaram2k being removed as the correspondent for Armorsmith.
Read the rest of the threads, that is not what people are asking for. Everyone is demanding regular updates with what is being worked on, how it is being worked on, when it will be ready, why the changes are made etc. A simple "we read your issues" thread would never be enough. It would only generate about two dozen pages of "what do you think?" and "thats not enough, give us more!" posts.
Armorsmith has received posts, not as many as you'd all like, but has received posts from Blixtev when many other professions are not getting any responses at all.
The mass mailing of the Devs probably hurt you guys more than it helped. Think about it: I'm betting their boxes were so clogged that they started deleting everything instead of reading it. If there was a constructive or helpful message in there, it probably got overlooked and deleted. Can you imagine what would happen if the rest of the correspondents took this course of action? Everybody's issues would be lost.
Your correspondent sounds like he was a good one, but he knew what his job was and then took action contrary to his responsibilities. I'm sure you all have plenty of good armorsmiths that can get the job done without resorting to such a tactic.

All i have to say is if the DEVs didnt have to quell little problems like this they would have had more time to read and respond to our problems. ever think about that before you start forum wars?
Ever think that if the Devs listened PROPERLY and did their job PROPERLY this wouldnt happen ? We pay their wages through a small percentage of our subscriptions and thus we expect value for money. The old sayinf "If it isnt broke dont fix it." comes to mind. Shame that cant be said for the game though. And to my knowledge this isnt a forum war, its about the people ( the armoursmiths ) showing their concerns for the apparent changes to their trade ( and livliehood ) with the CU just around the corner. Its about the LACK of understanding the Devs have for the genuine concerns of the armoursmiths. To me thats not a forum war, its people expressing their constitutional right about something that needs looking at and worked out / fixed.

problem is, the Armosmith's answers from Blivex STILL only gives Devspeak. No explanation is given as to why these changes are being made and not ONCE have they said "wow, I didn't realize you guys felt so strongly, I'll not even touch that aspect of it."
I never saw a majority of these crafting professions ask for ANY of these changes so there is no reason in hell they should have them and if the Devs insist on doing it, they damn well better give us a thourough explanation as to why this way is being done as opposed to all the other suggestions, when this was announced.
I support the AS in flooding the boxes and hope all professions do it. You know why? Because all we need them to do is to come here and be accountable to our customers. If they know we aren't going to take it quietly, maybe they will do that. Worse case scenario, they take time away form destroying the game to delete the 1000's of e-mails they are getting.
if they would stop lying and would start explaining the REAL reason we need this version of the CU, that would be a start.
True, we still wouldn't stop but they need to explain to us why this is a must when 3/4 of the players HATE it and why they are lying. then they need to stop both.
It's rather simple to get everyone off their backs.
1.)Start communicatiing with us-notice I said communicating-not posting
2.)Stop Lying
3.) Change the CU based on our feedback.
We all know sacrifices need to be made but people have given them alternatives. We need to know why those aren't being considered.
I'm curious as to what the lying is? What have they lied about in the CU since they started testing?
Sure, the crafting professions didn't ask for the changes, but some changes have to be made for the greater good of the game and so that new items will work in the new combat system. You really can't say "we didn't ask for the change, so it shouldn't be in the game." If you went along thoselines, creature handlers would still be the dominant profession in the game (remember what it was like when creatures, not players determined the outcome of every battle?), andcombat medics would still be the king of the PvP battlefields. Neither one of those professions asked to be changed either, but they still got their changes.
So, even though the Devs have said this flooding isn't going to change anything, you're advocating it anyway? You realize this will just lead to suspensions and not more communication. Your correspondent needs to be an advocate for your profession, needs to go after the Tiggs and Thunderheart and get answers and needs to report back with what they can when they can and when they don' thave concrete information, they need to reassure you guys that they are still working. Sounds like your advocate just got frustrated and gave up. Without access to the correspondents' forum, I guess we'll never know exactly what was done or communicated, will we?
I don't disagree that there could be more communication, but the way you are going about getting it is not productive. Notice that it hasn't gotten any more Devs to come to the boards and spill the beans.

When I see good people that bust their butts at their totally unrelated job and are still taking time to post for the betterment of the community in every forum I visit and then see someone, whos actual job it is to post in those forums, complain that they get too busy and cannot respond it really tweaks my mellon.Meh, I'm just grumpy I guess. Where's my coffee? If your grumpy then dont post because it will get you suspended and/or banned, your trolling and stating that Tiggs does not respond to the community regularly is a lie and just pointless ranting if post like that continue I will start handing out suspensions. Just because Your personal most important question or concern is not answered individually does not mean that there is a lack of communication. If the devs (or anyone for that matter) were to sit here and reply to every question that each individual feels they deserve an immediate answer to there would never be any game dev going on, there would be no maintenance, there would be no patches, and there would be nothing done.
Community relations Director is not just about posting and there is a ton of work and Tiggs (as you can see by her posting times) pretty much works 24/7 and that is by no means an exaggeration.
Your threating him with a suspension/ban because of his personal opinion? *scratches head* You continue to amaze me. I find your post rather low. I didn't see him comment on wanting to anwser his personal questions, you jumped to assumptions. But wanting someone to anwser more on why and how this happend in a little more detail isn't a bad thing. How times change, aye. Start of SWG I doubt you would have made a post of that nature. Rather, I never saw one.(I lurk well too.
