IMO, I played this game both before buffs, and now, and I can say I enjoy myself more now. PVP, I get owned in, and do not care, since I know I will get owned.I get owned bythe people who made their money on old krayt stuff and other uber loot, the same people who can afford the 5-10 suits of 35%+ stun armorsliced toalmost 90% base. They have the money, they can get the best stuff. Hey... isn't that why only a few people have italian and exotic cars in RL?

Before buffs, I remember a TKM was uber, so was a BH with eye shot and a scatter, commando burned stuff... look at pvp now, BH spends the most SP and royally sucks in PVP, TKM is rendered useless, commando isn't even worth bothering with for PVP. Creatures used to be usefull! I had 0044 bh, and almost mch, I used graul maulers as my main pet, I still have 4 which I can't get rid of. When the CH nerf happened, I quit for a few months. Why? Because I was able to go out and kill 3 graul maulers with one of mine with my mount and I attacking at the same time. What happened after nerf? My maulers were getting owned be freaking NPC rebs on DANT....

Now, people are crying nerf buffs, nerf the %'s, composite isn't meant to be uber... blah blah blah.... if you don't like uber armor.... GO PLAY A WOOKIE! play with 45%ish kinetic 25%ish base. Have fun with that. If you like PVP, go get owned as a wookie with that armor an armorsmith made for you. If you don't have the money for 90% armor, then don't PVP, if you don't have the money for 120+ ackley bones for stun batons, don't PVP. If you want to group to kill things on yavin, or dath or dant, go find newbs who don't have enough cash for buffs. Personally I like being as self-sufficient as possible, since others can let you down when you need them the most/ 20 person groups don't last 10 min.(the kind of groups people are wanting to be required to go onto yavin).

Being an 11 point armorsmith, I can say if the %'s change on armor, you wont be seeing many of the best armorsmiths (The 12 pointers/ people who make the best stun/kinetic composite)in the game anymore due to the EXTREME amount of money spent on resources, time spend getting those resources, and the time MAKING the armor. If you don't think my sentiment is true, go ask a 12 pointer what they'd think after spending around 30+mill on thosetapes for +20 armor exp.

More vulnerablities in composite is a horrible idea. I wear Composite Armor because it protects from a huge range of damage types. I don't have the inventory space to carry around 2-3 different types of armor with me at all times. Its a little peace of mind knowing that I could take several hits while tending to harvestors-factories.

I wouldn't mind it having more vulnerabilities if PvE creature damage types were limited to Kinetic and Energy.

I could imagine some of these Armorsmiths and other craftersthat have no combat skills trying to go through the Death Watch bunker in Composite with nerfed %'s and more vulnerabilities.

Good! The game is far too easy as it is now. Im sick of composite. I remember when the game started, combat was much MUCH more fun because we didnt have composite and doctor buffs! Going to elite planets really put fear into my character.. now its just a walk in the park.
Challengeing gameplay = Fun. Right now combat is too boring and no sence of danger.

I'm with neinnunb on this one.

> 2. Combat Rebalance is so that you can no longer go out and solo in "adventure planets like Yavin, Dath, Dantooine and etc.
That would be retarded, it would mean SWG becoming just like Everquest, where you can not do anything interesting solo.

That's part of the reason why I quit EQ and came to SWG : I was happy to have a game where I could just play without having to be looking for a group for an hour before I could do anything.
Death Watch Bunker is just like that : It is stupidely hard, and is no fun. It would be a great dungeon without the Super battle droids.

As for them nerfing armor to get rid of 80% resists etc, that is an utter crock. To me that just implies that the devs. are going to take a half a**ed approach in balancing the combat profs.

As compared with their full a**ed approach to everything else?

Right now PvP is suffering all over the place in the game and it has little to do with armor and more to do with things like a single combat medic being able to wipe out an entire group of fully buffed and armored players with mind poison, riflemen taking out a fully mind buffed and food enhanced player's mind in 2 or 3 shots, etc. Now, if they nerfthose profs and then nerf armoron top of that, guess what, we revert right back to 4or 5 months ago when everyone was calling for a nerf to TKA.

I agree with this.

Oh and as for the argument that they should nerf armorso people are forced to hunt in groups. Not everyonein this game wants to hunt in a group. Does that mean they should be denied the ability to go out and enjoy themselves in game just because they are not the social type?

From the beginning, they told us that we would be able to solo and/or group. To take away peoples ability to solo is taking away from us the ability to make our own choices in game. If they're going to do that, then they need to trash SWG, and take another approach, like KoToR. There were choices, sure, but they were limited, and they call it a role-playing game.

If this rumor is true then I think the devs. need to go back to the drawing boards and come up with a new plan for a combat balance. From my point of view, nerfing armor just is not going to cut it.

Or fire the current bunch and get in a new team who can actually make this game into what it has been promisded to be. If the code is too messed up, then fire the SWG team, trash the game and start over fresh. They could then set this game during the Old Republic, so everyone has a chance to be a Jedi if they want.

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news for everyone. But there is a very good reason that composite and ubese are the only armors that are made often. Let me run down a quick list of the reasons this is going to screw you if they nerf those two armors. Ill list them in order of seriousness. Note I am an armorsmith and have quite literally mastered most of the inner workings of composite.

1: Comp and ubese are the only armors that require very few specialized creatures components that cant be mined. If these two armors become obsolete, expect that you will have a harder time finding armor than back when chitin was killer on the bazzar. 99% of the Armorsmiths will only make armor for them and a few freinds. Lord knows im not running out and collecting avian bones and 3-4 different types of hides in order to make you an armor your only going to want to pay 50 k for the entire set due to its crap resists.

2: We have been collecting special resources for a year, to make the composite your seeing now. We have invested 10s of millions of credits (High end armorsmiths i speak of here.) To get the best resources possible, to be able to get 65%- 70% base preslice composite out on the market for you all, in a large enough supply that not only the filthy rich can have it. You want this game to be balanced, well welcome to the world of the haves and the have nots. This is not good for pvp, and will make the game unplayable. The developers already have started making weapons unbelievably powerful if you play EQ style and camp the same mobs all over. This is not what made the game good, this is what made UO Fail. Item based PVP is no good in a MMORPG. IF you want to have that go play carebear EQ and that way you can use your uber wep to camp the same mobs over and over faster.

3: Lowering the resists on this armor is going to make the players with the akva min looted 1200 dmg t 21s or vibro lances tear through you in 1 - 2 hits with out a problem. We lower the resists and this will be a one sided whichever class has the best wep dropped cosntantly FOTM, and youll never see another carbineer or commando again.

4: If you want armorsmiths to take the time to make you armor do not make it even harder to make. I for one will not do it, if they are going to require me to work 3 x harder to do the same amt of business. Armor is already the hardest market to compete in, requiring the most expensive tapes on the game to be competitive, and requiring a huge amt of cash in creature resources. And also requiring rare resources on par with noone else. How many of AS specific resources are gated... I hear alot of players that have never made a single piece of armor save for maybe ubese shirts or mabari chests while grinding for retarded Holo's saying this is good for the game. Well welcome to the world of thats probably the only armor your going to find anymore on the bazzar. They want us to wear faction armor more often HAH. That will actually work with this patch, cause its going to be one of the only armors youll be able to get your hands on.

You all may disregard this as a rant, but I know for a fact that there is quite a few armorsmiths that are thinking to themselves, damn hes right. Theres a reason i havent made chitin or padded since i was a noob, or just for looks. So go ahead and keep cheering them on so you can play your Borked pvp EQ style game. It will kill this game faster than anyone of you think. That is all, good luck with your Item based pvp one shot kill game.

Honestly I don't see anything wrong with the reasons you listed for the 'nerf' other than people don't want to be immortal anymore.

Your later post justifying this as somehow making Combat Medics less powerful than their current overpowered state is most telling about how you feel the current state of PVP is.

Right now there are very few professions (and weapons contained within) that work against a prepared player in pvp. With 80%+ composite, doc enhances, PSGs, and synthsteak it is almost impossible to kill a player without using poison or some means to disable the player for an extended period of time (dizzy+kd isn't even enough).

The problem with the current state of PVP is not the weapons, it's the armor and the other support functions available to players.

We are just too damn powerful.

That being said if they are going to alter armor, they need to be absolutely SURE to do it accross the board (none of this "pre-patch" nonsense that's terribly unbalancing) and afterwards need to re-assess the current 'supermobs' that exist in the game to give the current 'god characters' a challenge.

Ideally what I'd like to see is every armor type having a place in pve and pvp. Every armor type having vulnerabilities that can't be factored out (or at least not very much so) so you have to mix and match depending on what your class is, what your strengths are, and what you're up against. The current system is really a load of crap, just get 65% or whatever base composite, with your 40% stun special protection, and get it sliced to 80% or better effectiveness and you're done. There is no better armor than that and no reason to use any armor BUT that since buffs make HAM costs a complete joke.

Ok now who in the hell are you going to get to make all those armor types for you?

Armor specialists. See you'd start to see people specializing in certain types of armor (kind of how you see people specialize in weapons now) instead of everyone shooting for the holy grail that is composite.

Ya, Composite needs more vulnerabilites. Give it an Acid vuln too. Then whenpeople get 1 shot killed by a Master Rifleman with a DSXR-6b people will start complaining again.

Also one of the major reasons you don't see the other armor types is because of the amount of organic resources needed. If I want to stock ADV Chitin on my vendor, I need HUGE amounts of Dantooine animal bone, scaley hide, wooly hide, leathery hide, and normal bone (if i remember correctly off the top of my head). Getting these in huge quantities, with the awesome stats that us Armorsmiths need, makes it EXTREMELY costly to make. I have problems just getting good amounts of wooly hide, let alone 4 other types of organics.

If I had to buy these resources, I would have to price the Chitin higher than Composite. It would never sell then, who in there right mind would buy it?

No, that's not true at all.

The reason you don't see other armor types is because they ALL SUCK. The best chitin anyone's ever made pales compared to the best ubese which also is subpar to the best composite.

This isn't balanced in my opinion. Chitin should have the best potential for kinetic or whatever it's designed specifically to protect against, assuming you get the best resources. Currently, that is just not the case even with the best possible resources.

Also if you read I suggested that every armor would also have a place, therefore there'd be a form of helm you could get (whether padded or tantel or whatever) with high acid resist if you start to see a lot of DXR-6b people running around. I just don't see the balance or fun in having one super all purpose armor and a bunch of useless crap in the Armorsmith profession.

If they made ADV Chitin layerable it would make it a lil more popular I'm sure. Totally agree with ya though, you can't compare it to Ubese and Composite and that all the other armor types suck.

Personally, I'd like to see all the ADV armor segments at least accept 1 layer. I'm sure we would start seeing a lot more of Mabori and maybe even some Bone Armor. It would also put Chitin more inline with Ubese then.
