Thread: Things not to ask an Armorsmith as a customer

Your right slim I've said my peace and I'm moving on but just so everyone knows I came to the AS thread today because I had a question about armor and its new resistant values to maybe help me pick out a suit in game but I became afraid to ask questions so someone else's thread or maybe even a new thread of my own because I felt like it was considered OK to bash someone for asking what others considered stupid questions.

If we had to answer everyones questions, good or bad, just because they decide not to read the 15 or so stickies we have that perfectly detail pretty much everything an armorsmith, customer of farmer bob from hobo county could ever want, we would have to hire 25 people to sit here and answer posts.

There is a reason we have a stiky called "READ THESE LINKS BEFORE POSTING WITH QUESTIONS".

So it surprises you that we bash some people who ask the most inane questions when the answer can be found alot faster by reading the posts you are told to read BEFORE asking said question?

And this thread is NOT a public humiliation of a person or persons. I don't see one post saying:

"Yeah I saw this one guy named "iPwnzors" on the "forRPonlY" server. He was such a *beep*ing noob I mean here's some of the the things he said".

Do you see that?

I sure don't.

That basically means that it's not a public display.

Yes, I agree with you that some of the posts here are very harsh by my standards as well. I don't have a single person on my ignore list. And I doubt I ever will. But these posts are meant for laughs. Most of them are funny, some are less funny. None of them infer any public degradation of a person unless you are offended by being an anonimous post in a AS thread.

Basically, I ganked this idea off the WS forum. Feel free to add the most annoying, aggravating and irritatingly amusing questions you've gotten. Feel free to add in your most sarcastic/witty responses too.

I'll start with the most common one (that's also in my bio):

"Hi, are you an Armorsmith?"
"Last time I checked I was."
"Do you make armor?"
"I'm afraid not. I just wear the Master Armorsmith tag to make people think I'm rich and pick up hot Twi'lek dancers in the cantina."

Ironically, that's how I met my IG wife.

I think its pretty pathetic that a correspondant is basically making fun of someone in game asking very polite questions to you !!!

I'm glad your not on my server. After you answered the guys first question like you say you did I wouldn't have anything to do with you and I'd go find a good armorsmith not some jerk. I think you need to check your head....

I don't know why but for some reason reading what you wrote really made me mad. There are alot of new people in game now and since the game has totally changed even us quote un quote veterans have many questions about how professions are working now a days especially the crafting profs...

Actual conversation from my alt who is Armorsmith:

Person: Hi, I want some armor.

Me: What kind of armor are you looking for.

Person: The kind this guy is wearing.

Me: The kind what guy is wearing.

Person: The guy that just left the Starport.

Me: Well what did it look like.

Person: Oh it was black and uber cool lookin.

Me: Well, that doesn't help me much.

Person: So you can make uber cool looking armor?

Me: I suppose I can, its according to what you consider "uber cool".

Person: I want some armor so that I won't die.

Me: Well, there are 3 types of armor, which one are you specialized in?

Person: The kick ass armor B***H! Make me sum or I bust a cap in you.

Me: Umm yeah, sorry I don't take orders like that, have fun trying to find someone who does.

Me: "actually no, i just trained in novice armorsmith about five minutes ago."

guy: "you suck n00b."

Yeah You'll get alot of that on Bria. I get alot of people asking me for armor. Or to make them BH armor. Then tell me I suck because I cant make 8k energy resist Assault armor....

And then when I explain to them that it's impossible to make 8k E resist Assault armor because BH armor is ASSAULT armor and thus has a -1k penalty to energy vs Recon which has a +1k bonus etc. They then tell me my armor sucks cause it's all of 160 points off the cap for assault armor (And that's only cause I dont have one extremely rare and horrifically expensive resource on the server that came out LONG before I started playing)

That and with the changes to AS is the whoel reason I dont really make armor anymore save for special orders and guildmates. Now and then I stock my vendors but I just got sick of it all. You'll find alot of iddiots like that. Some people though quite simply dont understand the difference (Still to this day) between Recon, Battle and Assault armor. MOST of them when you explain it. Will go. Ooohh ok. And then promptly expect you to be able to hit the cap on resists like the very small handful of very old AS on Bria. (Folks like ZabTek, FoE's AS, Jarveth etc) who have hands down the best resources for armor on the server.Others extensively use resource deeds at an alarming rate no doubt to make capped armor.

And course now that folk are finding out i'm a WS I'm starting to get flooded with a bunch of questions for that >.< *sigh*

"Do You make armor?"
yes
"Can you make me an uber set so i can kill jedi?"
Well what kind do you want?
"something really good so i can own jedi"
So your a BH...can you wear recon armor too?
"I can wear anything, i dont care what it looks like as long is its really good"
I mean , are you certified to wear recon?
"I dont know, im a master bounty hunter"
ok whats your template
"bounty hunter and pistoleer"
ok cool, so you are a master pistoleer you can wear recon armor.
"ok, is recon good, and what does it look like?"
there are different appearances for recon, i take it you want it energy layered
"yeah energy layered recon would be cool"
ok, do you know what appearance you want
"yup, black composite"
ummm composite is not recon armor
"but i know i can wear composite"
yes because your a mbh, but because your a Master pistoleer, you can wear recon as well
"?? im not a master pistoleer"
I thought you said you had pistoleer
"I have all 4 boxes of pistols"
in marksman?
"yeah"
ok so so you cant wear recon then
"listen i just want some reaaly good armor to kill jedi with, can you make it"
You are only certified for assault, i can make energy layered assault if you want?
"ok, what are my choices?"
well you can have composite
"i thought you said i couldnt have composite"
composite is assualt, before we were talking about recon
"ok then ill take a energy layered composite suit"
ok cool, now we are getting somewhere
"How much do you think that will be, imm willing to spen up to 100k"
umm, i can sell you the bracer for 100k...sorry come back when you have saved up a bit more
"will you trade for it?"
i will if you have good resources or loot
"Ill give you my swoop"
hehe no thanks

10 minutes later from the same guy
"Can you make me a pistol?"
/ignore

"That's too much. I can get R.I.S. for a million."

and

"Make me a deal on that suit in the hallway."

Which, btw, is a primus-layered, +350 health suit of RIS sliced to 6800+ kinetic and energy before Pub 20. There will never be another suit like it.
