A PSG should cover you on the stun side. That leaves acid and if you do put acid in there, you lose out on getting that 80/80. So it is up to you. Maybe with some exceptional or legendary krayt scales you could put everything into special with enough resists to make a difference. Otherwise leave the acid out.

You can use a PSG for stun resists. As for Acid, there are a lot of player weapons that do acid damage, and after the combat rebalance I expect that a lot more of them are going to see regular use in PvP. If you ever plan on using your RIS in PvP combat, then I would most definately find a way to give it some acid resistance. Its not to hard to find some yellow named Krayt scales that have an Acid resist of around 14% or so. Even better would be if you could find a scale that had both Kinetic and Acid up around that level. Your options would then be to go with the scale and three Acid layers, thus getting your Acid resistance up to around 56% or so, or you could choose to go with only two acid layers and use a real high resist NS layer in the third layer slot. The only real downside of using a scale to boost your Acid is that it pushes everything into Special Protection, and thus you won't be able to benefit from an effectiveness slice. Another option would be to try and get either a super nice Janta Hide or a super nice yellow power cube. Personally, I'm currently sitting on some 9% Janta Hides. My plan is to use one of these hides along with three Acid layers. I know this probably won't be enough to get up to 80/80, but as long as I can get the base resists up to 72%, I'll have a good chance of hitting 90% with an effectiveness slice. I've got nine GDK scales to work with, so I might try some attempts with some nice Krayt scales, too.

thanks for both your replys, youve got me thinking here id thought ov nice krayt scales but also knew it drove everything else into special. what i have so far to use is 2* 9% ns layers 2* 15% base ns layers 2* ns shards -sommit -40 -34 and 5* 5% yellow cubes , i had fully intended on going the 80/80 route but a confirmation on the scales idea is very intriguing only scales i have is a 9% ones so guess i may have to start tracking some down. any AS made any ris this way with good scales ??? and if so any details and screenies would be great

I haven't looked too hard but I've managed to find a few Krayt scales that have 14% for Acid and around 6-7% for everything else. Like I said in my first post, if you're going to take the time to look for a nice Krayt scale, you might as well try to find one that has both Acid and Kinetic with +10% or higher. Getting the extra boost to Kinetic off the bat would make it a little easier to get to 80/80. Also, the 15% NS layers you have open up some more options. Assuming you have similar resourses to the RIS pieces JZeus made in this link...http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=armorsmith&message.id=56041then it looks like your layers, enhancer, and cube need to add up to about +24% Base/+14% Kinetic to be able to reliably hit 80/80. If you went with one 15% NS layer, two 4% base Acid layers, one 4% yellow power cube, and a 3% Janta Hide, then you'd be sitting at +30% base/+0% Kinetic. You'd be lower on the Kinetic than what Jzeus went with, but the extra experimentation point(s) you'd save by going with +30% base rather than +24% like he did might be enough to get your Kinetic back up near 80%. If you could find some Janta hide that was higher than 3% and maybe get a 5% or 6% yellow power cube, than you'd be in an even better position. You'd only end up with about 28% Acid resistance in the end, but as long as you got over 25% you wouldn't have to worry about the AP2 DXR-6r Rifle doing more damage because of the current AP/AR bugs.

To be honest it is probably just better ignoring the Acid resist all together unless you intend to boost it really high.
The most common acid weapons are dx2 (ap1) and drx-6b (ap2). Damage from the dx2 will only be reduced by the % of your acid resist and not your AR. Damage from the drx-6b is even worse. Here you will actually need a 20% acid resist or more in order to not take MORE damage than you would had without armor on.
A third and imho very important drawback is that your armor is going to decay alot faster with acid resists. If your current armor have a base of 80% and we say that you end up with 20% acid resists if you do it acid layered your armor will loose 4 times the durability from getting hit by an acid weapon compared to if it had been hit by energy.
Oh and it really is 20% you need to hit in order to not take more damage not 25% as posted above since 1.25*0.8=1

I might be mistaken, but I'm pretty certain that your armor will decay from hits even if it is vulnerable to that damage type, however you are correct about it needing to be only 20% and not 25% to keep from taking more damage than normal from the DXR-6b. As for weather or not to go with acid resists, why go for just 80/80 RIS when you can potentially get 80/80/40+ RIS? Heck, with the right Krayt scale and good resourses you could potentially get acid resists up to 60% or higher. The only thing you lose by putting in acid resists is that your armor's HAM is going to be a little higher, but you could make up for that by using good NS shards on some pieces and/or goingfor encumbrance slices instead of effectiveness slices on some pieces. Also keep in mind that theissues with AP/AR could get fixed at any time. If things get fixed, all those AP1 Acid weapons might start doing 25% more damage to everyone who is Acid vulnerable. I wouldn't be surpised if there's a push during testing of the combat rebalance to get the AP/AR issues taken care of, since any balancing would be thrown out of wack if they arn't fixed until a later patch. (Who knows, though, considering SOE's track record.)

Not sure how you intend to get 80/80/40 if you can only use acid layers...
Try getting shot in the head by a stun rifle while wearing armor and you will see that it takes no damage

well best krayt scales i can find atm are 12% acid 10% kinetic, but i have managed to get some 6% yellows and some 4% janta hide, so its looking like my best bet will be with the 2 crafted layers along with my 15% base layers , im sitting on some ok ish exeptional shards so hopefully theyll negate the rise in ham . im still very keen to get that acid resist as i can also see the ap bug being adressed in the cb, and i can get my stun resist from a psg. gonna keep up the search for nicer krayt scales, since i have a chest there 80/80 with acid and stun vun im pretty sure im wanting the others crafted differently but i wont be doing so if it cant hit over the 20%.

Well, there are a coupleoptions...
A. Go with three Acid layers and then get a real nice yellow cube and an real nice Janta hide.
B. Go with two Acid layers, one real nice NS layer, and a yellow-mamed Krayt scale that has high Acid and Kinetic.
The other option is to not go for 80% on your base resists. If you're planning on going for an effectiveness slice anyways, getting the base up to only 72% would be enough to hit 90% with a fairly common 25% effectiveness slice.
As for armor not loosing condition if its vulnerable, you might be corrent, but I've seen pre-nerf Krayt composite that had 100% resists to everythingexcept stun, yet still somehow had apparent condition loss.

I wouldn't try to remove either vulnerabilities on RIS armor.
RIS armor will never be good pvp armor.
It can be very light kick ass pve armor but it's just not designed to be used for pvp.....
Personaly I rather focus on kinetic/dur/ham and base...
Just made my first helmet and it turned out to be decent :
80% kinetic
51% base
0/6/157 HAM.
53499 Dur.
unsliced....
It's not the best I can make ( didn't use my best enhancers and still playing out with how to experiment) but I kinda like it
