Is anyone finding themselves stuck in a position where you have no resouces or a factory to make the segments or cores or doesn't even have the money to get the resources? Well that a position most novice armorsmith run into these days and I created this thread so Master armorsmith can sell thier segments and cores to us novices. If you are master put your name below and what resources you can sell to help us grind and your server.

Although I admire what you're trying to do, it prolly belongs in the trade forum.

It'll probably be easiest if you talk to other veteran players on your server about finding resource sellers and/or former crafters. But expect to pay a large amount of money for excellent quality materials.

My advice would be to take things slowly.

There are many smiths out there that started out with nothing (including myself).

I couldn't even pay the harvester maintenance fees when I first started out.

Slowly gather the resources you need.Harvesting all the needed inorganics (of decent quality) without having to buy a single unit of any resource will take you roughly 4-5 months on average to collect. You'll also need plenty of hides so it might even be a good idea to get some fighting skillsand scout so you can harvest everything yourself at aminimal cost.

Pre-CU, it took me a little under 4 months of collecting resources by myself to make triple-80 composite. I see you registered after the CU so you may not know what I'm talking about, but making triple-80 composite was waaaaaaaaaay harder than capping armor now.

Yep, I am familiar with armor crafting both pre and post cu. I studied in pre, but didn't actually start my AS until after. I didn't use money or any help from my combat toon and was producing in just about two months. Remember, work hard and gather your own resources. Don't expect to be able to produce overnight and lower quality armor still sells as EVERYBODY seems to be doing the jedi grind. It wiil be hard for an AS to give you his segments and cores because that IS what defines the amor and that would just be putting your name on our hard work and none of us really want to do that.

There is a huge need for AS, be patient and you'll do fine!

Hit the nail on the head. I have had so many brand new masters ask me to sell them my cores (or give in some cases lol)...

Are you kidding me? You start a post that basically is asking all us hard working crafters (who you also suggested have no life) to spoon feed lazy crafters that don't want to do any work and just make money off of us. There's nothing wrong with buying resources, but you will not get far in this business buying resources that sell for 2 or 3 cpu. Good luck to you.

So you spent 2M on cheap 2-3CPU resources and expect to be able to make decent armor?

Trust me, 2M for AS resources won't get you far unless you start harvesting yourself.

Plus, you don't have a combat toon and you don't have time to go harvesting?

What do you do in-game then?

Whatever it is, If you're not up to it, I don't think this profession is for you.

I don't think any of us got it wrong. All of us make armor and had to get there one way or the other.

I spent about equal amounts of time doing swordsman and armorsmith. Had to harvest as much of my own stuff as possible. MUCH CHEAPER that way.

If you think this is bad, wait until you reach master and getting the stats on your armor that others have is completely out of your reach. I can almost promise you that there are some resources needed that the smiths on your server will not sell....period.

What you have said indicates that you want someone to give you what you need to grind AS. At least, that's what I read into it. No one likes people that expect something for nothing. Especially the ones that have been through it, worked to overcome obstacles, and are now enjoying the fruits of their labor.

Running out of resources and money is an obstacle you will have to overcome. If you don't learn how to do it now, you will be back in a week...asking for more handouts.

So are you saying you want to make crappy RIS with your 2-3cpu resources?

Or are you gonna go spend 10-100cpu (or whatever prices are on your server) for the better quality resources when you can get similar resourcesfor 0.2cpu if you harvest it yourself now?

Oh, and I guess you don'tunderstandyou can get alot of XP crafting the segments and cores either...

I'm not sure this will help you, as you seem to want to skip this part, but here is a way to make the initial grind easier.

Step 1. Run Artisan Resource Missions for Credits. Just pick up a Steel or Named Steel (dependant on your level of survey) and run out and find it to complete your mission. Make a waypoint to that spot and return to the artisan Mission term. Make sure you go through the list of available missions until you find the mission for the steel twice, then run to waypoint, survey, get money, repeat till bored. Do this for 1/2 hour each day before you start crafting and the grind will go faster. You seem to have cash and probably dont need this step.

Step 2. Make 2 or 3 personal harvesters. I know you dont want to really harvest, or atleast that was way I took it, but this will keep your cost and time down. Just make the harvesters yourself, the cheap ones from Engineering tiers 3 and 4 of Artisan (you have to have them for AS anyway) and place them on the resources needed for battle segments. Find a low-level scout and either tag along and get hide/bone or give him a bit of cash for his crappy stuff, which shouldnt cost much.

Step 3. Hand-craft your segments. Just make a bunch in a row, say 20, and get the XP from each one. Use the segments you made to make Battle Cores, and get the xp from them. Now use the cores tomake Bone Arm Pieces. Put the bone arm pieces up on bazaar for going rate based on what quality you achieve and they usually sell fairly quickly. You wont need a factory for the arm pieces as they all take just 1core. I'm not even sure why, but it works. This way you can get a bit more credits for your time spent, wont be much, buy anything is always better than nothing.

Step 4. (This requires friends or a combat toon) Go to naboo and go Fambaa hunting. Make sure your group knows you want to loot the cores that drop. Use those cores to make Bone Chestplates, Legs, Helms and get the xp from the crafting. Sell those pieces on the bazaar for the going rate based on stats.

This should keep you busy till you hit AS 3 0 0 0 while padding your pockets a bit and stocking up your resources. Obviously once you hit 3 0 0 0 you will be making Ubese shirts anyway.

Now, I just got MAS maybe 3 weeks ago and I gotta say, if you refuse to harvest your own resources, then you better have one heck of a money-making scheme in effect now. The required named-resources for cores alone are extremely expensive, especially to newer players, and lets not even talk about layer resources. From reading your last post I get the feeling you have no intentions of actually working to sell armor, or I just misread. Sounds like you are taking AS just to get to MAS for RIS for yourself and friends. You can certainly do that if you desire, but, I think you will ultimately be happier and less bored just to make some money from missions or selling loot and buying the RIS than taking this grind all the way as it is pretty long and boring.

Oh well, just trying to help. Good luck
