Did you calculate the XP gained with Practice Mode and Entertainer Buffs included?

Also, I believe all types of segments give the same XP. It might be easier for the grinder to grind whatever segment they can getthe resoueces for(or whatever's cheap on the bazaar).

I'll post more when I have some more time.

I am sure you get more than 36xp for cores, I am just doing This, I have been making the segments in a factory (no xp, but works quite quickly) and then crafting the cores using a macro, but without the buff (no entertainers near)

I have enough xp for the first two boxes, and think I will start making the segments by hand now as well so I double up on the xp.

Can someone confirm this?

Was factory XP taken out of the game?

Like when they took out usage XP or something?

I haven't used a factory for XP since like 2 years ago, but just curious.

I can confirm that on factory xp.

Ill take the advice into account guys and post a new version when i get all these in game orders taken care of, maybe the step where i suggest crafting segs could have a note (if you are rich enuff to afford core resources, you may want to take an extra step to speed the process up)

Ill go over my numbers again with a fine tooth comb and add in a table maybe of hard numbers without buff and then numbers with standard insp and armorsmith insp.

Just grinded AS a few months back and it's about right. With the Entertainer buff it was like 39 xp on practise mode for segments. Can't remember cores tho.

What I found to be easier was grind battle segs -> cores - bone chest armour since the resources are faily cheap on the market, which gave you about 250-290 XP if I can remember correctly. Mabari still gives the biggest yeild in XP per resource but most of the resources can be costly.

A Guide on How to Grind Armorsmith Post-CU (draft)

So you just picked up Novice Artisan and wanna be an armorsmith? Heres a recipe that a few of us have put together:

Step 1) Prepare your mind and your stomach for the not so daunting task ahead. Grab a beer, a beverage, a can of lemonade from your local fridge. You will need it.

Step 2) Grab your nearest four Generic Crafting Tools. Place them in the F1-F4 Slots on your toolbar.

Step 3)Get a inspiration buff from your local entertainers. This will last you for 330 minutes.

Step 4) How to grind to Artisan III: Engineering: For this task you need 4500 General Crafting Experience.

I recommend grinding on Mineral Survey Devices. Each device takes 19 Metal and 8 Mineral and gives 55xp.

You will need 82 Mineral Survey Devices to complete your task. To make these you will need 2214 units of Metal. On commencment of crafting, as you go to assemble your first Mineral Survey Device, set your tool to practice mode. This will stop 82 Mineral Survey Devices appearing in your inventory.

While you are grinding out Artisan, you may also like to grind out Surveying. You can craft and survey at the same time using a simple macro. Please check out the Q&A part of this FAQ for an example of one.

Step 5) How to grind to Novice Armorsmith. For this task you will need 22800 General Crafting Experience.

I recommend grinding on Wind Power Generators. Each Wind Power Generator takes 145 Metal, 45 Steel, 40 Low-Grade Ore, 20 Non-Ferrous Metal, 10 Aluminium and gives you 446xp in practice mode. You wil need 51 Wind Power Generators to complete your task. To make these you will need 7395 units of Metal, 2295 units of Steel, 2040 units of Low-Grade Ore, 1020 units of Non-Ferrous Metal, 510 units of Aluminium.

Step 6) Acquire four Clothing and Armor Crafting Tools. Place them in the F1-F4 Slots on your toolbar. You will also need a crafting droid or Clothing and Armor Crafting Station.

Step 7) How to grind to Personal Armor Appearance III: Expert Appearance. For this task, you will need 117600 Armorsmith Crafting Experience

I recommend grinding on Armor Segments. EachBattle Segment (for instance) takes 10 Steel, 5 Aluminium, 15 Polymer, 5 Wooly Hide and gives 36xp in practice mode. You will need 3267 Battle Segments to complete your task. To make these you will need 32670 Steel, 16335 Aluminium, 49005 Polymer, 16335 Wooly Hide

Step 7 (Faster Version) - New Armorsmiths with startup capital for Core Resources may wish to produce segments in a factory and then use these segments to macro grind the equivalent armor core (will add in some numbers here soon for equiv xp gain + gain/resource p/u). You can even go an additional step and use the cores you produce to macro crafting Mabari Chestplates (will add in numbers here soon for equiv xp gain + gain/resource p/u)

Step 8) How to grind to Master Armorsmith. For this task, you will need 599200 Armorsmith Crafting Experience.

I recommend grinding on Ubese Shirts. Each Shirt takes 20 Iron, 36 Steel, 16 Fiberplast and gives you 94 in practice mode. You will need 6374 Ubese shirts to complete your task. To make these you will need 127480 Iron, 229464 Steel, 101984 Fiberplast.

(If anyone has any suggestions on additions here please advise, in particular, if there is a quicker path to Personal Armor Appearance 3)

Step 9) Have a drink - You deserve it. Congratulations you are Master Armorsmith.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How long will it take to grind Master Armorsmith?

A long time. It can be done quicker if you use inspiration buffs from entertainers and are efficient in terms of finding the necessary resources and tools. Also, the shorter the delays you have on any macro you use will increase the speed at which you grind.

Q. I've heard of this thing called a macro? Could you recommend one to me?

Macros are a must have. You can google for them or make them urself. Heres one worth a try.

Please note, when googling you may find programs to "craft for you", dont use those, against the EULA = account suspended = bad.

Crafting Macro

First Create a Macro with the name Crafting.
If you do not know how to create a macro this is how.

  • Press Ctrl + A This will bring up your Command Browser.

  • Click on Macro.

  • Click on Add

  • Here is where you want to Name your macro .. Name this new Macro .. Crafting

  • Pick an Icon

  • Add the following into the macro instruction field:

    /ui action toolbarSlot01;

    /ui action defaultButton;

    /pause 20;

    /nextC;

    /nextC;

    /nextC;

    /createPrototype practice no item;

    /createPrototype practice no item;

    /pause 3;

    /ui action toolbarSlot02;

    /ui action defaultButton;

    /pause 20;

    /nextC;

    /nextC;

    /nextC;

    /createPrototype practice no item;

    /createPrototype practice no item;

    /pause 3;

    /ui action toolbarSlot03;

    /ui action defaultButton;

    /pause 20;

    /nextC;

    /nextC;

    /nextC;

    /createPrototype practice no item;

    /createPrototype practice no item;

    /macro crafting

    With the macro in the first toolbar slot and three armor crafting tools in the next three slots. This macro opens each of the tools in turn, selects the schematic you have previously crafted, gives you 20 seconds to select the resources, and then makes the item in practice mode.

    In relation to the macro selecting the schematic you have previously crafted, you will need to prime a crafting tool by starting a crafting session, selecting the proper draft schematic, then using the esc key to back out of the crafting session once you have reached the window where you search for ingredients. Once you have done this, the /ui action defaultButton command line will select that crafting draft schematic as its default within your macro.

    After the third tool, the macro calls itself, thereby starting again at the first tool. If you make something less complicated, you can make the pause for adding the resources shorter, but then you might need to add a 4th tool and macro part for it.

    Survey Macro (Can be used in conjunction with crafting)

    First Create a Macro with the name Sample.
    If you do not know how to create a macro this is how.

  • Press Ctrl + A This will bring up your Command Browser.

  • Click on Macro.

  • Click on Add

  • Here is where you want to Name your macro .. Name this new Macro .. Sample

  • Pick an Icon

  • Now here is where you put in the macro

    /kneel;
    /pause 1;
    /sample;
    /pause 610; (added this time frame to allow for regen of your mind, you may like to shorten it if you use mind food/spice to increase your regen while crafting, tailor this one to your own needs)
    /stand;
    /emote stretches - sampling is hard work!;
    /macro sample

    To prime this macro, all you now need to do is go out and take some surveys until you find a decent spot for a resource. A 80% or above spot will increase your chances of a sample, thus increasing the rate at which you gain experience. Experience gain is a random thing here, the more units you successfully harvest per sample, the more experience you will be adding up. Once you have found a 80% or above spot, type /macro sample to begin.

    Q. How do I acquire the resources necessary? It seems like a lot for a poor new player like me!

    Go to your nearest bazaar terminal, there is a option for galaxy vendor search. If you type in the type of resource you are after it will show you the cheapest vendors to find it. If you can not afford it, mining and harvesting your own resources might be necessary, or better still ask a Jedi for help. They should be all helpful, right?

    Q. What professions should I combine with Master Armorsmith now that I am the master of my domain?

    You will want to consider the following:

    Master Artisan: (Profit margin P/U of resource = largest on some artisan wares such as repair tools/powerups)

    0300 Tailor: So you can make your own reinforced fiber panel, padding, synth cloth, fiber panels

    0004 Merchant: So you can keep a lot of stock on your vendors and a lot of vendors in your galaxy.

    Master Smuggler: Armor-breakresistance slicing is extremely popular on any armor

    Q. What resources will I need now that I have mastered Armorsmith?

    Use this list as a reference when you go to survey, respectively to buy the resources you'll need for all your crafting.

    If you need to check which resources are in current spawn, I recommend Swgcraft.com. It is generally kept up to date by players like you so if you find a good resource spawn all on your own, help out your fellow crafters by listing it up here.

    Another tip I like to use for finding resources that are in current spawn involves the 30k Free Crate of Resources Vet Reward. Instead of running around to each planet like a crazy survey junkie, if you open up your vet reward and select a particular resource, lets run with duralloy steel,go to the very bottom of the listed available resources. From here, you will be able to select the ones that have most recently spawned, see theirstats and then click X at the top right to escape from wasting your Free Crate of Resources. This is how I check which resources are currently available for harvesting.

    One suggestion about using /ui action defaultButton; ... you mention that it uses the "schematic you have previously crafted", but what that means might not be obvious to someone new to macros or that particular command. You might want to add something about "priming" the macro by starting a crafting session, selecting the proper draft schematic, then using the esc key to back out of the crafting session.

    Good work! Tying in the info about grinding up what's needed in artisan is a nice touch -- all the necessary info in one spot.

    One method not mentioned for getting to PA III is creating segments then practicing basic cores. You may not be able to macro this, but it capitalizes on the time spent craftingsegments...and the xp for crafting cores in practice mode is significant...(147 per swgcraft.com).

    might put a little tip

    if also grinding artisan, you can craft while surveying. So.....setup a survey macro and knock out two birds with one stone
